Philip gallantly assists them to the border and returns to Alcorta; Consuelo tells Juan that she will still consent to marriage but that she can never love him, since she loves Philip instead. Not to be shamed by Philip's gallantry, Juan decides to step aside. He is returning to Alcorta to give himself up when he is shot by Senator Cornejo.

The father shows up to close the deal but is frustrated. Endicott's henchman, Boyer, beats Don unconscious in a fight. Boyer relates matters to Endicott, who is disappointed in the apparently cowardly behavior of his son. Don recovers and defeats Boyer in a second fight, winning the respect of his father and approval of his love for Millie.

Andy forces José to change clothes, and José is mistaken by the ranchers for Andy. They let José go, after Lola's pleas, but first they brand him on the forehead. A gunfight ensues between José and Andy in which the latter kills Lola. The Rurales capture José but later collaborate with him in Andy's capture. In the end, José and Conchita are reunited.
