Marilyn Monroe: One of the true icons of 50s American cinema.
It's interesting to note that despite Marilyn Monroe working in Hollywood for nearly 10 years, her star status as a top leading lady was somewhat riddled with frequent battles with her studio bosses, her own deep rooted insecurity and Monroe's yearning to be taken seriously as a dramatic actress. At one stage, she was absent from movie theatres for 3 years and could have become a name from the past. However, Monroe still had a couple of classic films left before her tragic passing in 1962. Marilyn Monroe shall always be regarded by movie buffs, as one of the most iconic film stars in Hollywood history.
