- DirectorRichard CurtisStarsDomhnall GleesonRachel McAdamsBill NighyAt the age of 21, Tim discovers he can travel in time and change what happens and has happened in his own life. His decision to make his world a better place by getting a girlfriend turns out not to be as easy as you might think.Watched: June 1st 2015
My Opinions: Very sweet and sentimental movie. Very moving, not risky... Its a bit dark and it works. The leads are charming and have chemistry with one another and the script balances romance with humor. Very nice film.
Verdict: B- - DirectorNeil BurgerStarsBradley CooperAnna FrielAbbie CornishA mysterious pill that enables the user to access 100% of his brain's abilities transforms a struggling writer into a financial wizard, but it also puts him in a new world with many dangers.Watched: June 2nd 2015
My Opinions: Very smart, very fun, very original. Bradley Cooper is a great lead and the script has a lot of cleverness to it. I'll admit that the final act started to deteriorate and I didn't quite enjoy that final scene with Robert De'Niro but overall this was a great film.
Verdict: B - DirectorSydney PollackStarsRobert RedfordFaye DunawayCliff RobertsonA bookish CIA researcher in Manhattan finds all his co-workers dead, and must outwit those responsible until he figures out who he can really trust.Watched: June 2nd 2015
My Opinions: This is a tricky film. The first 40 minutes were brilliant, thrilling and engaging... Then the rest of the movie came and the story began to fall. I loved the performances from Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway, however I feel their romantic subplot was not only rushed but a bit unbelievable and distracting. This is a very interesting film, and yes it does thrill you and make you want to continue watching just because you want to see the big payoff... But by the end of the film you're just disappointed because there actually was no big payoff. The big bad guy isn't a guy you get to know over the course of the film. The lead actor doesn't get a happy ending. Its a nice set up and a slow set down.
Verdict: C+ - DirectorSteven QualeStarsRichard ArmitageSarah Wayne CalliesMatt WalshStorm trackers, thrill-seekers, and everyday townspeople document an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes touching down in the town of Silverton.Watched: June 3rd 2015
My Opinions: The visuals are impressive and the direction is fine but the script is lackluster with one dimensional characters and a predictable story that has no bite and fails to fright. This script is so stupid that it'll have you screaming at the TV... Plus, those two idiots Donk and Reevis? They served no purpose in the film and did not bring laughs but instead agony upon my family and I. They shoulda been left on the editing room floor...
Verdict: D+ - DirectorJohn CarneyStarsKeira KnightleyMark RuffaloAdam LevineA chance encounter between a down-and-out music business executive, and a young singer songwriter new to Manhattan, turns into a promising collaboration between the two talents.Watched: June 4th 2015
My Opinions: A sweet movie with well written characters who are performed by very talented actors. Mark Ruffalo shines. The script by John Carney is top-notch. The score is awards-worthy, I smiled hearing it.
Verdict: B+ - DirectorRoland EmmerichStarsDennis QuaidJake GyllenhaalEmmy RossumJack Hall, paleoclimatologist, must make a daring trek from Washington, D.C. to New York City to reach his son, trapped in the cross-hairs of a sudden international storm which plunges the planet into a new Ice Age.Watched: June 5th 2015
My Opinions: I mean, it is what it is, an entertaining and exciting disaster movie with top of the line visual effects (There are many) and some dumb fun. The story is by the numbers as are the generic characters as is that generic father to son relationship and subplot of the father going to rescue the son... But whatever. This is Roland Emmerich, you get exactly what you expect from him.
Verdict: B- - DirectorDan AykroydStarsChevy ChaseDan AykroydJohn CandyA businessman and his friends are captured by a sadistic judge and his equally odd family in a bizarre mansion in the backwoods.Watched: June 5th 2015
My Opinions: Its not nearly as funny as it should be. Plus it may be too dark and nasty for some fans of John Candy, Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase.. But I liked the performances (Particularly Candy and Aykroyd) and I liked the make up and costumes... So its a so-so comedy that has a few merits, and some fans of Chase, Candy, and Aykroyd will get a kick out of this weird movie so...
Verdict: C - DirectorBrad PeytonStarsDwayne JohnsonCarla GuginoAlexandra DaddarioIn the aftermath of a massive earthquake in California, a rescue-chopper pilot makes a dangerous journey with his ex-wife across the state in order to rescue his daughter.Watched: June 5th 2015
My Opinions: TBA
Verdict: TBA - DirectorGeorge MillerStarsTom HardyCharlize TheronNicholas HoultIn a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in search for her homeland with the aid of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshiper and a drifter named Max.Watched: June 6th 2015
My Opinions: TBA
Verdict: TBA - DirectorJean NegulescoStarsMarilyn MonroeBetty GrableLauren BacallThree women set out to find eligible millionaires to marry, but find true love in the process.Watched: June 6th 2015
My Opinions: Its alright, the premise is a little out there and the trio of lead characters aren't too likable but the film does have its moments. Some funny moments. And the cast is good. I will always remember that funny final scene too.
Verdict: C - DirectorDenis VilleneuveStarsJake GyllenhaalMélanie LaurentSarah GadonA man seeks out his exact look-alike after spotting him in a movie.Watched: June 7th 2015
My Opinions: Its a movie that has good moments and bad moments. Its intriguing. Jake Gyllenhaal gives a great performance. I feel that the pacing is too slow and while I was waiting for the story to pick up and start answering some questions... It doesn't answer all of them. Most of them, but not all of them. I feel that the editor should've cut all the spider stuff, it didn't make any sense and it pulled me out of the movie. Its a tense movie, and that's good and when i'm pulled out of a tense movie its hard to get back in it. The ending felt a bit tacky, it was good but a bit tacky. This is a confusing film that has its moments but I wont watch this again. Not good enough and not everything added up.
Verdict: C or C+ - DirectorJames DeMonacoStarsFrank GrilloCarmen EjogoZach GilfordThree groups of people intertwine and are left stranded in the streets on Purge Night, trying to survive the chaos and violence that occurs.Watched: June 8th 2015
My Opinions: Its better then its predecessor and Frank Grillo gives a great leading performance, but sometimes the characters surrounding Grillo's get to be too annoying and while I acknologe that the script is better then it should be, its just not good enough... Its a bit stupid and the character development is nowhere where it needs to be.
Verdict: C+ - DirectorGeorge ClooneyStarsPaul GiamattiGeorge ClooneyPhilip Seymour HoffmanAn idealistic staffer for a new presidential candidate gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail.Watched: June 8th 2015
My Opinions: Ryan Gosling is good and the script provides some cleverness but it also does not utilize its supporting cast of characters and the plot feels too unfinished. The film's got good directing and that but its missing something... Plus, I feel like George Clooney had too small a role to play in this film.
Verdict: B- - DirectorWes CravenStarsChristina RicciJesse EisenbergPortia de RossiA werewolf loose in Los Angeles changes the lives of three young adults who, after being mauled by the beast, learn they must kill it in order to avoid becoming werewolves themselves.Watched: June 8th 2015
My Opinions: Jesse Eisenberg steals the screen from the star that was Christian Ricci. The animation on the werewolves isn't impressive but its not too bad to make me feel like clawing my eyes out (I'm talking to you I, Frankenstein). The script sucks and aside from Eisenberg the rest of the cast gives B-grade performances. The character development is nowhere to be found and the dialogue is beyond cringeworthy and is the one note story and that predictable ending.
Verdict: D - DirectorJohn FrankenheimerStarsRobert De NiroJean RenoNatascha McElhoneA freelancing former U.S. Intelligence Agent tries to track down a mysterious package that is wanted by the Irish and the Russians.Watched: June 9th 2015
My Opinions: It was hard to get into this film... The cast is beyond impressive...Robert DeNiro, Jean Reno, Natascha McElhone and Stellan Skarsgard star with Sean Bean and Jonathan Pryce in supporting roles. The cast all give their best and are supported by great action sequences and great direction but the script is confusing (Especially the first 30 minutes) and the cast seem to mutter ALOT of their dialogue, besides that the plot itself isn't too exciting nor the character development too strong. However this is a very watchable movie just for the talent involved.
Verdict: C+ - DirectorGuillermo del ToroStarsMira SorvinoJeremy NorthamAlexander GoodwinThree years ago, entomologist Dr. Susan Tyler genetically created an insect to kill cockroaches carrying a virulent disease. Now, the insects are out to destroy their only predator, mankind.Watched: June 10th 2015
My Opinions: Its OK. Its got tension but that tension never amounts to anything. The film never gets scary enough. Sometimes it'll get close, but it just never gets close enough. Add in the usual cardboard characters and you get an OK horror film that also features good special effects on the creatures but bad pacing (Too fast).
Verdict: C - DirectorEvan GoldbergSeth RogenStarsJames FrancoJonah HillSeth RogenSix Los Angeles celebrities are stuck in James Franco's house after a series of devastating events just destroyed the city. Inside, the group not only have to face the apocalypse, but themselves.Watched: June 10th 2015
My Opinions: Where do I begin with this. Its crude, rude and sometimes gross and mean but this is to good and bad effects. You can tolerate the crudeness of the dialogue up until about half of the film is over and then from there it isn't too funny anymore its just crude humor. The script features a TON of hit-or-miss humor. When it funny you smirk, but its a guilty smirk, because the only humor portrayed in this film is dirty humor. There is a five minute part of the movie in which the leads discuss raping somebody... Seriously... Anyways, when its not funny your just shaking your head thinking about how unpleasant that joke was. The cast all try so very hard... Its very obvious too. The cast gave their all on this. The premise is a fun one too... Original in a different sense of the word 'original'. This is a occasionally funny but too-too dirty film that definitely deserves the R-rating because I think there was a '*beep*' or 'ass' or *beep* or *beep* in every line of dialogue... Seth Rogen (Sigh) Some fans of Rogen's films will enjoy this but not all of them. Its just too much. Its a man's movie and I know for a fact women won't like this one. One other thing, the first 20 something minutes were hilarious as were the numerous cameos in the beginning... Plus Emma Watson and Michael Cera were scene-stealers they got ALOT of laughs from me.
Verdict: D+ - DirectorChristian DitterStarsLily CollinsSam ClaflinChristian CookeRosie and Alex have been best friends since they were 5, so they couldn't possibly be right for one another...or could they? When it comes to love, life and making the right choices, these two are their own worst enemies.Watched: June 12th 2015
My Opinions: OK, so like all romantic movies, this one isn't very original, but its sweet and the chemistry between the leads is phenomenal. The script has good dialogue too.
Verdict: B - DirectorChad StahelskiStarsKeanu ReevesMichael NyqvistAlfie AllenAn ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters who killed his dog and stole his car.Watched: June 12th 2015
My Opinions: This was a very nice surprise... Keanu Reeves doesn't give much by way of emotions which sort of spoiled the importance of his character's wife being killed and such, but the action sequences are so smart, engaging, exciting, swift and slick and well directed and Keanu Reeves and all the extras all did so well with the action that I can forgive Keanu for not putting much into his role. This film features relentless action and for good entertainment this is an excellent film, it has a story and gets straight into it. Its one track minded and that's good. The characters are developed enough and while there are a few plotholes we can let them go.
Verdict: B - DirectorColin TrevorrowStarsChris PrattBryce Dallas HowardTy SimpkinsA new theme park, built on the original site of Jurassic Park, creates a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus Rex, which escapes containment and goes on a killing spree.Watched: June 14th 2015
My Opinions: Don't come into Jurassic World expecting the same feelings you got from 'Jurassic Park' because you just won't get them. Its not that this film is a bad one, because its not, its a very entertaining film with excellent visual effects, Chris Pratt, and a surprisingly thoughtout story. However, the pacing is too fast and the script is bad. The script has lackluster and sometimes cheesy dialogue and underdeveloped characters whom we care little of. The editing is good and you can tell that all who worked on the film cared about it deeply (The film gives SEVERAL nods to the original film) and the studio made an excellent choice in the rookie director. The problem is that the awe and wonder and amasement and all of those feelings that we felt when we watched the first film are gone. We don't get those strong emotions this time around and that's disappointing. Plus, the score was surprisingly mediocre.. It had its moments but instead of trying for something new, the score was just the same iconic music from the first film but to lesser effect in this film. Plus, no scenes truly stand out here. This won't have that iconic tag that the first film has, but if you can except the film as what it is (A popcorn picture) you can truly have some fun. There is some to be had.
Verdict: C+ - DirectorKrishna RaoStarsRutger HauerJosh CharlesStuart WilsonA young man finds himself in the middle of a universal battle between good and evil when he sets up residence in a trans-dimensional valley. Only his father's mysterious crystal pendant and its lost matching scepter can guarantee victory.Watched: June 15th 2015
My Opinions: Its not very good. Its cheap looking, and the cast gives lackluster performances. Its a boring movie, and the story isn't drawn out well.
Verdict: D - DirectorAlejandro AmenábarStarsNicole KidmanChristopher EcclestonFionnula FlanaganIn 1945, immediately following the end of Second World War, a woman who lives with her two photosensitive children on her darkened old family estate in the Channel Islands becomes convinced that the home is haunted.Watched: June 16th 2015
My Opinions: This is a case where the film starts out well and then slowly descends into a horror film that doesn't work. The twist(s) at the end don't provide the shock factor you expect. Nicole Kidman does cook up a very chilling and strict and independent performance. She is one of the film's saving graces, she kept us viewers watching and waiting and hoping for something. The scares aren't there... They just aren't. The film just isn't very scary. The direction is great and the cast knows just what to do and when and how to do it... But the script is bad. Its not scary, its a thriller with minimal thrills, and the last hour becomes boring and confusing. You start to get angry even... Wanting for the film to be a good horror movie, but it ends up falling very short of it.
Verdict: C- - DirectorRobert HarmonStarsLaura ReganMarc BlucasEthan EmbryA psychology student finds all her childhood fears and phobias becoming real after a traumatic event.Watched: June 17th 2015
My Opinions: This is just really bad. Its not executed good at all. This film makes almost every mistake a horror film can make. For starters, the scares are predictable... Too predictable. The movie itself spoils its own scares! And the characters, we know which ones are going to die. The script doesn't even play with us. We know exactly which character is dying next. There isn't any gore or anything. The lead is OK but she isn't given anything to do besides look scared the whole movie. The characters are so stupid in this film and the script ends the film on a very sour note. This isn't a satisfying horror film at all. I gave a long sigh after this ended. It was a poorly produced movie.
Verdict: D- - DirectorRoel ReinéStarsTom SizemoreLex ShrapnelAnthony OseyemiTom Sizemore stars in the most explosive Behind Enemy Lines yet! Seal Team 8 must fight their way through the Congo to defuse one of the greatest threats the world has ever known.Watched: June 18th 2015
My Opinions: Its a little better then the average low budget independent movie in that the action sequences are well done and the casting is good, but the script is predictable and by the numbers. The film carries no dramatic heft and the editing is alittle choppy.
Verdict: C - DirectorRyan WhitakerStarsSteven StraitKarolina WydraMadison LintzWhen two bus crash survivors awake to discover that they are the only people left in their town, they work together to unravel the truth behind the strange events.Watched: June 18th 2015
My Opinions: I don't have a lot to say about this. Its confusing and bleak. Its dull and at some moments its even boring. The script doesn't provide too many thrills nor any twists that leave you surprised... The end is lackluster and disappointing and the story itself is only half baked.
Verdict: D-
