- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsSean ConneryGert FröbeHonor BlackmanWhile investigating a gold magnate's smuggling, James Bond uncovers a plot to contaminate the Fort Knox gold reserve. The third Bond film in the series and possible Sean Connery’s most memorable outing. Goldfinger presented the primary formula for the films franchise and global marketing potencies. Many of the elements introduced continued to appear in the later James Bond films, such as the extensive use of gadgets, British built cars and the pre-credits sequence that were not always a major part of the main storyline. Lastly, who can forget the strikingly iconic image of Shirley Eaton completely covered in gold paint and the Aston Martin DB5.
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsTimothy DaltonRobert DaviCarey LowellA vengeful James Bond goes rogue to infiltrate and take down the organization of a drug lord who has murdered his friend's new wife and left him near death. With the growing popularity of 1980s darker edged action films, for example; Lethal Weapon, Die Hard and a majority of Schwarzenegger movies, Bond had to move with the times. The result, an entertaining film with many positive aspects (Wayne Newton cameo not one of them!) Although, License To Kill has mixed reviews, received a less than average box office takings for a Bond release and not to everybody’s liking, nevertheless, amongst the fans it is a highly regarded outing for 007 with the darker, gritty and in some sense more violent tone suited to Dalton`s character. It is unfortunate due to the delay in pre-production of the next film, Dalton was to call it a day after only his second outing As Bond.
- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsDaniel CraigEva GreenJudi DenchAfter earning a licence to kill, secret agent James Bond sets out on his first mission as 007. Bond must defeat a private banker funding terrorists in a high-stakes game of poker at Casino Royale, in Montenegro.Casino royale is the twenty-first film in the James Bond series and the first to star Daniel Craig as the fictional British agent. Casino Royale rebooted the series for twenty-first century audiences, establishing a new timeline and narrative framework not meant to precede or succeed any previous 007 film which allowed the film to go back to the roots of bond show a less experienced and more vulnerable person.
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreMaud AdamsLouis JourdanA fake Fabergé egg recovered from the body of a fellow agent leads James Bond to uncover a jewel smuggling operation led by the mysterious Octopussy, and a plot to blow up a NATO air base.Take away the clown costume, gorilla outfit, and Tarzan yell, Octopussy is one of the most impressive films of the entire series, and certainly Rodger Moore’s best outing as 007. The cold-war/jewelry smuggling plot is engrossing and the film moves along at a steady pace.
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsTimothy DaltonMaryam d'AboJeroen KrabbéJames Bond is sent to investigate a KGB policy to kill all enemy spies, and uncovers an arms deal that potentially has major global ramifications.Taken from Ian Fleming`s short novel, The Living daylights is the fifteenth entry in the series and the first to star a superb Dalton as the fictional MI6 Agent. Combine the fabulous story and Dalton`s performance the film is credible for bringing back realism and more realistic espionage to the franchise and also showing James Bond's dark side, as well as the much missed, though modern version, Aston Martin.
- DirectorLewis GilbertStarsSean ConneryAkiko WakabayashiMie HamaJames Bond and the Japanese Secret Service must find and stop the true culprit of a series of space hijackings, before war is provoked between Russia and the United States.Sean Connery`s fifth and in my opinion best outing as 007, You Only Live Twice just edges Goldfinger from that top stop. Scripted by children’s novelists Roald Dahl the fast paced film follows the familiar 1960`s cold-war paranoia with added hip art-deco coolness. The locations, sets and stunts are escalated, as therefor was the budget.
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreCarole BouquetTopolSecret service agent James Bond is assigned to find a missing British vessel equipped with a weapons encryption device and prevent it from falling into enemy hands. After the over-the-top gag filled, Man with the Golden Gun, gag filled science fiction-focused Moonraker (with the tolerable Spy who Loved Me, sandwiched in-between) the producers thankfully returned to the style of the early Bond films and the works of 007 creator Ian Fleming. Therefore, For Your Eyes Only followed a grittier, more realistic approach and an unusually strong narrative theme of revenge and its consequences. Roger Moore by this film had made the role into his own hallmark, injecting a different personality and representation of a fictional spy than Connery. One of the top five Bond films in the entire series, and considered by many Moore`s best.
- DirectorPeter R. HuntStarsGeorge LazenbyDiana RiggTelly SavalasBritish agent James Bond goes undercover to pursue the villainous Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who is planning to hold the world to ransom.By far one of the best entry of the long-running series (taken directly from the title 1964 novel). The film contains some exhilarating action sequences, an excellent spy composition, a touching love story, and a nice subplot that has agent 007 threatening to resign from Her Majesty's Secret Service. The problem is Bond himself . George Lazenby is unfortunately unimpressive and his ineffectualness lowers the films overall quality. Lazenby handles the action sequences well but that's about all he handles. It is unlucky that the produces could not get Moore at this time (due to Filming schedules of The saint) I think this script was tailor made for him. Fortunately, and what makes the film respectable, Lazenby was surrounded reputable actors.
- DirectorMichael AptedStarsPierce BrosnanSophie MarceauRobert CarlyleJames Bond uncovers a nuclear plot while protecting an oil heiress from her former kidnapper, an international terrorist who can't feel pain.I can not complete this list without mentioning Pierce Brosnan due to the simple fact that he portrayed an excellent bond. Unfortunately, his Bond films suffered from feeble scripts and even feebler castings. In addition, I could never adjust to the political correctness and the streaks of Bond under Blair`s modern Labour. Yet, of Brosnan`s four depictions as 007, The World is Not Enough in my opinion is the best of a bad lot. Forgetting Denise Richards and John Cleese, The Stockholm Syndrome scenario is imaginative and the nuclear plot just about believable, for a Bond film anyway!
- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsDaniel CraigEva GreenJudi DenchAfter earning a licence to kill, secret agent James Bond sets out on his first mission as 007. Bond must defeat a private banker funding terrorists in a high-stakes game of poker at Casino Royale, in Montenegro. If only because it is Craig`s best.
