- DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsChris PineZachary QuintoSimon PeggThe brash James T. Kirk tries to live up to his father's legacy with Mr. Spock keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time. Please don't accuse me of not being a "true Trekkie" because this is #1. I LOVE the original series and nothing can beat the television show. But this blows the old Trek movies out of the water with its story and action. Plus, Leonard Nimoy's cameo will brings a lot nostalgia back as well. The acting is great, the plot is great and the action is unbelievable. Its a flawless film.
- DirectorNicholas MeyerStarsWilliam ShatnerLeonard NimoyDeForest KelleyWith the assistance of the Enterprise crew, Admiral Kirk must stop an old nemesis, Khan Noonien Singh, from using the life-generating Genesis Device as the ultimate weapon.Happy now? This was actually my favorite Star Trek movie until the 2009 version came out. This was the first Trek movie I ever saw and loved it. This and "Return of the Jedi" were the two SciFi films I watched all the time. It has a great story, good acting and good effects. Its the best of the old Trek films by far.
NOTE: Only thing I hated was the "KHHAANN!" Very overdone and hammy but I still love Shatner;) - DirectorRobert WiseStarsWilliam ShatnerLeonard NimoyDeForest KelleyWhen an alien spacecraft of enormous power is spotted approaching Earth, Admiral James T. Kirk resumes command of the overhauled USS Enterprise in order to intercept it.I don't care what people say. I really liked this movie. When I saw it, I thought it was good. People kept telling me how bad it was but I enjoyed it. The plot was good, the action came at the right time and the acting wasn't too bad. Yes, Kirk is a little dumber than usual but Spock and Bones make up for it. Its not a film for everyone (even "true Trekkies") so beware when you watch it.
- DirectorNicholas MeyerStarsWilliam ShatnerLeonard NimoyDeForest KelleyOn the eve of retirement, Kirk and McCoy are charged with assassinating the Klingon High Chancellor and imprisoned. The Enterprise crew must help them escape to thwart a conspiracy aimed at sabotaging the last best hope for peace. This film is bittersweet. Its sweet because the story is great, the characters get developed well and it has great shots of space. Its a nice film to watch. Its bitter because its the last film to feature the original cast all together (Kelley and Doorhan are both deceased so it would be impossible to do a proper reunion without them) and it was the last Trek film that Roddenberry watched (he died just days after viewing it). Its another classic Trek film!
- DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsChris PineZachary QuintoZoe SaldanaAfter the crew of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one-man weapon of mass destruction.Just because you put it at the bottom, doesn't mean I have to. I saw this film a few weeks ago, and I really liked it. Abrams has done amazingly with Star Trek. You can tell he understands the universe and does his best to please both Star Trek fans and non-Star Trek fans. These are two completely different groups and its hard to please them BOTH at the same time but Abrams did it! I also loved the evolution the Kirk/Spock friendship. Pine and Cumberbatch really shine in it, and I was more than pleased with the "twist" that was thrown in near the end.
- DirectorJonathan FrakesStarsPatrick StewartJonathan FrakesBrent SpinerThe Borg travel back in time intent on preventing Earth's first contact with an alien species. Captain Picard and his crew pursue them to ensure that Zefram Cochrane makes his maiden flight reaching warp speed. This is the best film to feature "the Next Generation" cast. Its story is good, the dialogue is great, the acting great and the effects are very nice to watch. To be honest, this is the only "Next Generation" film that I would recommend to someone. There are three others but this was the only one I really liked.
- DirectorLeonard NimoyStarsWilliam ShatnerLeonard NimoyDeForest KelleyTo save Earth from an alien probe, Admiral James T. Kirk and his fugitive crew go back in time to San Francisco in 1986 to retrieve the only beings who can communicate with it: humpback whales. This one is one the good/bad Trek film boarder line. Its not as bad as the films after it on my list, but its not as good as the six above it on my list. Its got a good story, good effects and keeps you interested. There's good humor and some good development but I was pretty underwhelmed by it. Its still a good film, and I would definitely recommend it.
- DirectorLeonard NimoyStarsWilliam ShatnerLeonard NimoyDeForest KelleyAdmiral Kirk and his bridge crew risk their careers stealing the decommissioned U.S.S. Enterprise to return to the restricted Genesis Planet to recover Spock's body. Now, we are heading into "bad Trek film" territory. The first six, I think, are the best so far. The rest are decent and worth checking out, but will leave you more underwhelmed. This was a disappointing follow up to "Wrath of Khan". The film on its own isn't terrible. The acting is good and the effects are good, but the plot is forgettable and the characters are underdeveloped.
- DirectorStuart BairdStarsPatrick StewartJonathan FrakesBrent SpinerThe Enterprise is diverted to the Romulan homeworld Romulus, supposedly because they want to negotiate a peace treaty. Captain Picard and his crew discover a serious threat to the Federation once Praetor Shinzon plans to attack Earth. This was the last Star Trek film to come out until the 2009 film and there is a GOOD reason why. This film is pointless. The only character to get somewhat developed Picard which is a little unfair because he gets the MOST development in the show. The effects are lousy, the plot is boring and the characters are stupid. Its a film that should only be used to pass the time. Its only saving grace is a very young Tom Hardy.
- DirectorWilliam ShatnerStarsWilliam ShatnerLeonard NimoyDeForest KelleyCaptain Kirk and his crew must deal with Mr. Spock's long-lost half-brother who hijacks the Enterprise for an obsessive search for God at the center of the galaxy. This Star Trek film is pointless. Searching for God? Really. Since when does Star Trek, whose premise is "to seek out new life and new civilizations", care about searching for religious sky daddies? This is one of those special films that, as soon as the credits roll, you have forgotten the entire movie already. Its boring and really wasted the talents of Kelley, Nimoy and Doorhan for sure.
- DirectorJonathan FrakesStarsPatrick StewartJonathan FrakesBrent SpinerWhen the crew of the Enterprise learn of a Federation conspiracy against the inhabitants of a unique planet, Captain Picard begins an open rebellion. This film wasn't as pointless as the other two. I actually liked the idea of the crew helping out a space rebellion. But this film committed a cinematic crime that is more offensive than "pointless". Its crime was stupidity. I can survive pointless but I cannot survive stupid. I can survive Sixteen Candles (a pointless film) but I cannot survive the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (a stupid film...and I love horror). What did they do Picard and the crew?? They made them stupid. They made the plot stupid and the dialogue stupid. This film is just stupid. Just watch it...you'll know what I'm talking about.
Edit: Actually DON'T watch it. Not worth your sanity!!!! - DirectorDavid CarsonStarsPatrick StewartWilliam ShatnerMalcolm McDowellWith the help of long presumed dead Captain Kirk, Captain Picard must stop a deranged scientist willing to murder on a planetary scale in order to enter a space matrix.I. wish. this. film. did. NOT. exist. Why does it exist? This film takes everything I love about Star Trek and destroys it. The characters are dull, plot is nonexistence, the effects are lazy and the dialogue is lame. No wonder DeForrest Kelley and Leonard Nimoy refused to appear in this. They wanted to keep their dignity within the Star Trek universe. William Shatner, on the other hand, lost his. How could he let them destroy Captain Kirk in the way they did. WHY?!?!
In my happy universe, this film doesn't exist. This is the ONLY Star Trek film I refuse to own...just like Nimoy and Kelley refused to be in this piece of crap.
