- DirectorRené CardonaStarsJosé Elías MorenoCesáreo Quezadas 'Pulgarcito'José Luis Aguirre 'Trotsky'With Merlin's aid, Santa Claus must defeat the evil machinations of the devil Pitch to ruin Christmas.Santa Claus vs. a devil. And it's aimed at children. And there's Merlin in there for some god-awful reason. Need I say more?
- DirectorLee HarryStarsEric FreemanJames NewmanElizabeth KaitanThe now-adult Ricky talks to a psychiatrist about how he became a murderer after his brother, Billy, died, which leads back to Mother Superior.Shoving half of the first film into the mix in order to up the runtime does the film no favors. And the film that isn't part of the first is even worse made than the previous one.
- DirectorNicholas WebsterStarsJohn CallLeonard HicksVincent BeckThe Martians kidnap Santa Claus because there is nobody on Mars to give their children presents. This Z-list film is so bad, it's hard to believe that anyone could have thought this film could have worked.
- DirectorJohn WhitesellStarsMatthew BroderickDanny DeVitoKristin ChenowethTwo neighbors have it out after one of them decorates his house for the holidays so brightly that it can be seen from space. This astoundingly irritating film turns Christmas into a competition and is full of unfunny gags and performances from beginning to painful end.
- DirectorCharles E. Sellier Jr.StarsLilyan ChauvinGilmer McCormickToni NeroLittle Billy witnesses his parents getting killed by Santa after being warned by his senile grandpa that Santa punishes those who are naughty. Now Billy is 18 and out of the orphanage, and he has just become Santa himself. The performances are horrible and the script is completely worthless. A terrible, horrible excuse for horror--let alone Christmas horror.
- DirectorMichael LembeckStarsTim AllenMartin ShortElizabeth MitchellSanta, a.k.a. Scott Calvin, is faced with double-duty: how to keep his new family happy and how to stop Jack Frost from taking over Christmas. The series finally hit rock bottom with this entry, which is so remarkably annoying that just about every second of screentime feels like a waste of life and crushes the spirit of Christmas entirely.
- DirectorJimmy T. MurakamiStarsSimon CallowKate WinsletNicolas CageOld bitter miser Ebenezer Scrooge (Simon Callow) who makes excuses for his uncaring nature learns real compassion when three ghosts visit him on Christmas Eve.Though I can appreciate the attempt of bringing new ideas to the story of A Christmas Carol, the ideas this version brings to the table entirely drag down the film by not focusing the beginning of the film on Scrooge's arc. In addition, while the vocal performances are okay, the animation is terrible, the characters lacking animated expressiveness, the song feels dreadfully out of place, and half the time the film is more worried about the (stupid and unclear) story of a pair of mice rather than the story of A Christmas Carol. The film is weak and I hated it. It ruins and completely misses the point of A Christmas Carol.
- DirectorRichard DonnerStarsBill MurrayKaren AllenJohn ForsytheA selfish, cynical television executive is haunted by three spirits bearing lessons on Christmas Eve.I personally found this film monumentally annoying and unpleasant. I hated every moment that this film was on.
- DirectorRaja GosnellStarsAlex D. LinzOlek KrupaRya KihlstedtAlex Pruitt, an 8-year-old boy living in Chicago, must fend off international spies who seek a top-secret computer chip in his toy car.Even the second film looks marvelous compared to this schlock. Everything that made the first film feel Christmasy or funny is lost and replaced with absolutely nothing. ...At all.
- DirectorBrian LevantStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerSinbadPhil HartmanA father vows to get his son a Turbo Man action figure for Christmas. However, every store is sold out, and he must travel all over town and compete with everybody else in order to find one.The film completely highlights materialism and commercialism and is stacked with annoying performances and complete unpleasantness.
- DirectorRobert LiebermanStarsHarley Jane KozakJamey SheridanEthan EmbryA brother and sister attempt to bring their divorced parents back together for Christmas. Two kids seek to reunite their divorced parents for Christmas. This movie is uninspired, stupid, not very well-thought out, overly schmaltzy, bland, derivative, and poorly conceived, complete with a miraculously weak premise.
- DirectorTroy MillerStarsMichael KeatonKelly PrestonJoseph CrossA father who can't keep his promises is killed in a car accident. One year later, he returns as a snowman who has the final chance to put things right with his son before he is gone forever.A father is turned into a creepy-looking snowman after his death so he can reunite with his son. It's suppose to be endearing, but it's actually overly schmaltzy, cheesy, and just plain stupid.
- DirectorPhillip BorsosStarsMary SteenburgenGary BasarabaHarry Dean StantonAn angel must show a mother the true meaning of Christmas. It's not just presents and materialistic things, but the people she cares about too. This one isn't that bad until about the midway point in the movie. Then everything just slides down hill as complex themes are set up, only to be handled in an infantile manner.
- DirectorArlene SanfordStarsJonathan Taylor ThomasJessica BielAdam LaVorgnaA college student faces an impossible journey when he is left stranded in the desert, thousands of miles from home, with no money and only a few days left until Christmas. The film is unfunny and doesn't have the decent message it thinks it has.
- DirectorNora EphronStarsSteve MartinMadeline KahnRobert KleinThe events focus around a crisis hotline business on one crazy night during the Christmas holidays.Steve Martin is as fun as always, but the thin plot and annoying characters sink the film--which already starts off with a remarkably weak premise.
- DirectorDavid DobkinStarsVince VaughnPaul GiamattiElizabeth BanksFred Claus, Santa's bitter older brother, is forced to move to the North Pole to help Santa and the elves prepare for Christmas in exchange for cash.Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamotti do their best, but the script does not give them nearly enough to work off to make the film anything more than pure trite nonsense.
- DirectorSeth GordonStarsReese WitherspoonVince VaughnMary SteenburgenA couple struggles to visit all four of their divorced parents on Christmas.I found the premise intriguing, but instead of taking full advantage of it, it focuses on marital troubles between the two leads. That's something that certainly doesn't feel very Christmasy.
- DirectorMike MitchellStarsBen AffleckChristina ApplegateJames GandolfiniA lonely, obnoxious young millionaire pays a family to spend Christmas with him.Not quite as bad as the reviews have indicated, but still far from a good film. The performances are forced, the story dry, and the characters mostly too unlikeable to give the movie a lot of credit.
- DirectorRonald NeameStarsAlbert FinneyAlec GuinnessEdith EvansA musical retelling of Charles Dickens' classic novel about an old bitter miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions.I have to say, a musical version of A Christmas Carol is not unwelcome (the Muppets did it wonderfully) and Albert Finney turns out a good performance as Scrooge, but the songs in this are annoying, the art direction is unpleasant, and the film takes a particularly ugly turn when Scrooge has a brief stay in Hell.
- DirectorJeannot SzwarcStarsDudley MooreJohn LithgowDavid HuddlestonThe legend of Santa Claus is placed into jeopardy when an unscrupulous toy manufacturer attempts to take over Christmas. This film features quite a bit of creativity, but it's ultimately too unpleasant overall to be worth a second viewing... or even the first.
- DirectorMichael LembeckStarsTim AllenSpencer BreslinElizabeth MitchellScott Calvin has been a humble Santa Claus for eight years, but it might come to an end if he doesn't find a Mrs. Claus. It lacks all of the ingenuity, cleverness, and magic of the first film.
- DirectorLance RiveraStarsGabrielle UnionMorris ChestnutQueen LatifahA young girl turns to a department store Santa in the hopes that he will help find a new husband for her divorced mother.Very forgettable with the exception of the astounding number of clichés.
- DirectorJoe DanteStarsZach GalliganPhoebe CatesHoyt AxtonA young man inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town.A lot of people really love this film, but I found it lacked in story and character development.
- DirectorRalph SmartStarsChips RaffertyJohn FernsideStan TolhurstIn Australia, five children pursue horse thieves through the mountains.Watching five children chase horse thieves through the Australian bush doesn't sound like a very merry Christmas, and it isn't. While somewhat charming, this film is forgettable, lacks excitement, and feels too long (in spite of a mere 70 minute runtime).
- DirectorAlfredo Rodriguez de VillaStarsJohn LeguizamoFreddy RodríguezDebra MessingA Puerto Rican family living in the area of Humboldt Park in west Chicago face what may be their last Christmas together.Bland and forgettable Christmas drama that doesn't hold up as well as This Christmas.
