- DirectorRob StefaniukStarsRob StefaniukJessica ParéPaul AnthonyA comedy centered on a rock 'n' roll band that will do anything to become famous.Has Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Malcom McDowell, Dave Foley. This movie is a winner (even though the music stinks... no offense to the writer/director, who wrote the music).
- DirectorTed NicolaouStarsAngus ScrimmAnders HoveIrina MovilaThree students get caught in the struggle between a good vampire and his evil brother in the Transylvanian mountains. Not your typical vampire film, yet it's true to the monster vampire that we love. I really enjoyed this. (See a cleaned up version.)
- DirectorTed NicolaouStarsAnders HoveDenice DuffKevin SpirtasKillers of vampires hunt a particularly bad one with a folklore scholar and her sister, back in Transylvania.
- DirectorTed NicolaouStarsAnders HoveDenice DuffKevin SpirtasStill in the thrall of the evil vampire Radu, Michelle yearns to be taught the skills of the vampire. Meanwhile, her sister Becky tries to free her from his evil clutches, and this time, she's brought some help.
- DirectorTed NicolaouStarsAnders HoveDenice DuffJonathon MorrisA woman and her friends face a wave of vengeance and war with the undead as the most evil vampire master awakens to forcefully take back the night.
- DirectorF.W. MurnauStarsMax SchreckAlexander GranachGustav von WangenheimVampire Count Orlok expresses interest in a new residence and real estate agent Hutter's wife. The grandfather of all scary films deserves your veneration, not just because it was seminal, but because it was hot-diggety awesome. They don't make atmosphere like this anymore.
- DirectorLen WisemanStarsKate BeckinsaleScott SpeedmanBill NighyPicking up directly from the previous movie, vampire warrior Selene and the half werewolf Michael hunt for clues to reveal the history of their races and the war between them.Just stupid. A few good scenes, actually, but the development of the story, as well as most of the writing was just rotten. Disappointing. Kate Beckinsdale was the only good thing, but how much longer can we have positive feelings about her if she makes flicks like this?
- DirectorPatrick TatopoulosStarsRhona MitraMichael SheenBill NighyA prequel centered on the origins of the centuries-old feud between the race of aristocratic vampires and their former slaves, the Lycans.A surprising recovery from the previous installment in the series. It was also nice to be in the dark ages. I'm not saying it was free of stupid out-of-placeness, but it was better than the rank and file of lick flicks.
- DirectorNeil JordanStarsBrad PittTom CruiseAntonio BanderasA vampire tells his epic life story: love, betrayal, loneliness, and hunger.Really quite decent, good even (although we'll never recover from the emo, crying vampire image).
A nude corpse in it was gratuitous and stupid, highly unnecessary. Please watch on a clearplay dvd player. - DirectorMichael RymerStarsAaliyahStuart TownsendMarguerite MoreauIn this loose sequel to Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994), the vampire Lestat becomes a rock star whose music wakes up the equally beautiful and monstrous queen of all vampires.Unlike Aliens and Blade II, the second film in this series was not the best. It was disjointed and weak. If you had read the book, you'd see it as a fractured series of clips from the book. Worse, the music in this film (Lestat's 'band', which was more a solo act than the band from the book) betrayed the atmosphere of the book and the style of the band from it.
The ONLY redeeming thing about this trash was the cute redhead. - DirectorFrancis Ford CoppolaStarsGary OldmanWinona RyderAnthony HopkinsThe centuries old vampire Count Dracula comes to England to seduce his barrister Jonathan Harker's fiancée Mina Murray and inflict havoc in the foreign land.Wynona Rider and Keanu Reaves both called upon to act... how could this have been a good movie? It wasn't. Other members of the cast performed well, and the sets were good, though. On the other hand, their vision of the backstory of Dracula first becoming a vampire was stupid, and we all hated his absurd ridged leather armour.
- DirectorTom HollandStarsChris SarandonWilliam RagsdaleAmanda Bearse"Fright Night" sees a teenager believing that the newcomer in his neighborhood is a vampire. He turns to an actor in a television hosted horror movie show for help to deal with the undead.Campy and not too bad.
- DirectorTommy Lee WallaceStarsWilliam RagsdaleRoddy McDowallTraci Lind"Fright Night Part 2" is a sequel to "link=tt0089175]". Charley Brewster and the horror host Peter Vincent must face more vampires, out for revenge.Notably worse than its predecessor.
- DirectorStephen NorringtonStarsWesley SnipesStephen DorffKris KristoffersonA half-vampire, half-mortal man becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires.Meh. Not too bad. Not something to seek out, though, unless you really need a vampire flick and have run through the good ones.
- DirectorLen WisemanStarsKate BeckinsaleScott SpeedmanShane BrollySelene, a vampire warrior, is entrenched in a conflict between vampires and werewolves, while falling in love with Michael, a human who is sought by werewolves for unknown reasons.Genuinely cool and enjoyable.
- DirectorGuillermo del ToroStarsWesley SnipesKris KristoffersonRon PerlmanBlade forms an uneasy alliance with the vampire council in order to combat the Reapers, who are feeding on vampires.Much better than its predecessor. Really worth a watch. However, it's less true to the vampire than the predecessor. Kind of a shame, but this is still better than Blade I.
- DirectorDavid S. GoyerStarsWesley SnipesKris KristoffersonParker PoseyBlade, now a wanted man by the FBI, must join forces with the Nightstalkers to face his most challenging enemy yet: Dracula.Oh, brother. Stupid, stupid plot. And so lame in execution. The hot chick vampire hunter puts on a loud ipod when she goes 'slaying'?
- DirectorJohn WebbStarsDrew FullerAlexandra BreckenridgeTimothy Lee DePriestBased on the true story of the murder of a girl's parents in Eustis, FL (USA), five teens in a vampire cult on the run are captured by police in New Orleans, LA and tell their tale of how they got there.A very different sort of vampire movie, and chilling in a very different way. Believable (after all, it's based on a true story).
- DirectorTomas AlfredsonStarsKåre HedebrantLina LeanderssonPer RagnarOskar, an overlooked and bullied boy, finds love and revenge through Eli, a beautiful but peculiar girl.Very good acting. An original story. True-to-the-genre vampires.
- DirectorE. Elias MerhigeStarsJohn MalkovichWillem DafoeUdo KierThe filming of Nosferatu (1922) is hampered by the fact that its star Max Schreck is taking the role of a vampire far more seriously than seems humanly possible.A great idea for a movie, and having Cary Elwes in it is always a good thing. Executed poorly. The vampire looked nothing like Max Schrek. The film within the film was not true to the original Nosferatu. Gratuitous, pointless nudity.
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsJason PatricCorey HaimDianne WiestAfter moving to a new town, two brothers discover that the area is a haven for vampires.Love this. Bad-guy vampires. A bit of fear, a bit of humour. Lots of atmosphere. 80's gothic punk. It is amazing that different groups of characters appear to think they're in different genres, but it all works together.
- DirectorP.J. PesceStarsTad HilgenbrinkAngus SutherlandAutumn ReeserThe follow-up to the cult classic horror film takes us back to the familiar shady surf city of Santa Carla, where vampire surfers quickly dispatch anyone who tries to invade their turf.Such garbage. Trying to ride the coattails of the last one, while betraying it. Nothing like the culture of the last one. Hated the characters. And the Coreys (the only actors from the originial) were so marginalized it was sad.
It is in bad taste to say it, but I understand why Corey Haim OD'd while this film was in editing. Rest in peace. - DirectorDario PianaStarsCorey FeldmanCasey B. DolanTanit PhoenixMulti-arrow crossbow? Check. Holy water grenade launcher? Ready. Stake-shooting M134? Got that, too. Edgar Frog is locked and loaded for his bloodiest badass battle yet with the undead.Good to see both of the Frog brothers back. This was much better than it's predecessor, though far from as good as the first in the series.
- DirectorDavid SladeStarsJosh HartnettMelissa GeorgeDanny HustonAfter an Alaskan town is plunged into darkness for a month, it is attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires.Pretty enjoyable, but the ending was irritating and the plot had some shoddy constructs.
SPOILER: The whole, "I can become a half vampire, which will let me have a human mind but still be stronger than the strongest vampire so that I can fight the boss vampire" ending was so bogus. Meanwhile, all the other vampires will stand around and watch instead of joining the fight. And once the boss is dead, none of them will seek vengeance. Instead, they'll all go away forever.
And what was the point of trying to take over a city? We can't imagine how this was going to pay off. Of course they'd be hunted down once communication was restored. And nobody outside is going to notice that the entire town has been blacked out for a month?
And it would have been so much better to set this before cell phones. We were supposed to believe that everyone's cell phone was effectively stolen at the same time? By one mortal guy? Yeah. (The writer's couldn't think of just knocking out a cell tower? That's much more likely, and it took me like 5 seconds to think of.) - StarsShawnee SmithTed RaimiKen ForeeA nurse who is attacked by a vampire and slowly transforms into one, while her brother tries to track her down.
- StarsTrip HopeGeoff Stirling Jr.Andrew Laurich"30 DAYS OF NIGHT: BLOOD TRAILS" is based on the New Orleans storyline from the original graphic novel by Steve Niles "30 DAYS OF NIGHT." BLOOD TRAILS follows George, a young addict who makes a living seeking covert information for Judith, the weary but wise New Orleans vampire hunter. Ready for change, George plans to score one final job so he can leave town, but finds the road to salvation quickly crumbling when his contacts start turning up dead. Now George must dodge vampires while navigating the harsh underbelly of New Orleans to get his last payday and make it out alive.
- DirectorPatrick LussierStarsGerard ButlerJustine WaddellJonny Lee MillerA group of thieves breaks into a chamber expecting to find paintings, but instead they release the count himself, who travels to New Orleans to find his nemesis' daughter, Mary Van Helsing.A run of the mill vampire buff might like this. I thought it was stupid. Not worth a discriminating viewer's time.
- StarsDavid SoulJames MasonLance KerwinA novelist and a young horror fan attempt to save a small New England town which has been invaded by vampires.Loved it.
- DirectorUbaldo RagonaSidney SalkowStarsVincent PriceFranca BettoiaEmma DanieliWhen a disease turns all of humanity into the living dead, the last man on earth becomes a reluctant vampire hunter.Skip it. 'Classic' films are great; this is no classic. Vincent Price makes a terrible last man on earth, but he still performs much better than the vampires, who all appear to be walking through molasses and on thorazine.
- DirectorHolly DaleStarsGordon CurrieLouis FerreiraHelene ClarksonA vampire falls for a woman working at a donut shop.Lame. Lame. Lame. The only dimension to this one-dimensional vampire is that he cries. (Oh, ennui. Life, she is meaningless.)
And is it not bad enough to see a writer think that characters can bring someone back to life by defibrilating him, they also want us to think that holding two screwdrivers coated with jelly and hooked to a car battery is a workable way of doing this? Insulting. - DirectorKurt WimmerStarsMilla JovovichCameron BrightNick ChinlundA beautiful haemophage infected with a virus that gives her superhuman powers has to protect a boy in a futuristic world, who is thought to be carrying antigens that would destroy all hæmophages.Skip this. Not worthy of the genre (and that's saying something in a genre with so many clunkers). And stupid. And why did they have Mila Jovovich do the same schpeel at the start of this, in the same voice and character, as she did in the second Resident Evil film?
- DirectorTommy Lee WallaceStarsJon Bon JoviCristián de la FuenteNatasha Gregson WagnerA vampire hunter and a priest fight a band of the walking dead in Mexico.Better than the predecessor. But the plot hinged on a pretty lame point. The vampires were pretty gullible and apparently not into taking securities on their shady deals.
- DirectorJohn CarpenterStarsJames WoodsDaniel BaldwinSheryl LeeRecovering from an ambush that killed his entire team, a vengeful vampire slayer must retrieve an ancient Catholic relic that, should it be acquired by vampires, will allow them to walk in sunlight.A run of the mill vampire buff might enjoy this. It was below my estimation.
- DirectorKathryn BigelowStarsAdrian PasdarJenny WrightLance HenriksenA small-town farmer's son reluctantly joins a traveling group of vampires after he is bitten by a beautiful drifter.
- DirectorScott BatemanPierre breaks up with his dancer girlfriend Jeanette, who immediately gets her face mangled in a car accident. Only the mysterious Dr. Levin can save her face... but at what cost? Not really a vampire film.
- DirectorCharles BartonWalter LantzStarsBud AbbottLou CostelloLon Chaney Jr.The Wolf Man tries to warn a dimwitted porter that Dracula wants his brain for Frankenstein monster's body.
- DirectorStephen SommersStarsHugh JackmanKate BeckinsaleRichard RoxburghThe famed monster hunter is sent to Transylvania to stop Count Dracula, who is using Dr. Frankenstein's research and a werewolf for nefarious purposes. The intro scene was the best part of this film. Second best, the sets and vistas. The story is irritating, Dracula is effeminate and irritating, Van Helsing's sidekick is a sad role to which for David Wenham to have fallen.
- DirectorFran Rubel KuzuiStarsKristy SwansonDonald SutherlandPaul ReubensFlighty teenage girl Buffy Summers learns that she is her generation's destined battler of vampires.I imagine that anyone who liked the TV series would hate this. I loved this. Downright funny. Downright entertaining.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppMichelle PfeifferEva GreenAn imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection.Kind of atmospheric and humorous. Has Alice Cooper in it, which is nice. Quirky in concept, but the execution didn't really take us anywhere or immerse us sufficiently in atmosphere to make this one you'll remember.
- DirectorJemaine ClementTaika WaititiStarsJemaine ClementTaika WaititiCori Gonzalez-MacuerViago, Deacon, and Vladislav are vampires who are struggling with the mundane aspects of modern life, like paying rent, keeping up with the chore wheel, trying to get into nightclubs, and overcoming flatmate conflicts.Funny. Great
