- DirectorMichael HanekeStarsSusanne LotharUlrich MüheArno FrischTwo violent young men take a mother, father, and son hostage in their vacation cabin and force them to play sadistic "games" with one another for their own amusement.Great movie 10/10. I enjoyed the way the director wanted us to feel hypocrites with someone else's death.
- DirectorCharles E. Sellier Jr.StarsLilyan ChauvinGilmer McCormickToni NeroLittle Billy witnesses his parents getting killed by Santa after being warned by his senile grandpa that Santa punishes those who are naughty. Now Billy is 18 and out of the orphanage, and he has just become Santa himself.Great movie.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellEllen SandweissRichard DeManincorFive friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons.Excellent movie, acting is not that great but it can really scare you! My sister says old '80s films are the only ones that can really freak you out nowadays.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsJackie Earle HaleyPatrick WilsonCarla GuginoIn a version of 1985 where superheroes exist, the murder of a colleague sends active vigilante Rorschach on the trail of a conspiracy that will change the course of history.I didn't like it, I'm a big fan of the graphic novel and this movie was way off. The only thing I loved was the intro.
- DirectorWes CravenStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid ArquetteA year after the murder of her mother, a teenage girl is terrorized by a masked killer who targets her and her friends by using scary movies as part of a deadly game.Terrific movie. It's a balance between horror, comedy and it can get away with it.
- DirectorWes CravenStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid ArquetteTwo years after the first series of murders, as Sidney acclimates to college life, someone donning the Ghostface costume begins a new string of killings. It wasn't as good as the first one.
- DirectorTobe HooperStarsMarilyn BurnsEdwin NealAllen DanzigerFive friends head out to rural Texas to visit the grave of a grandfather. On the way they stumble across what appears to be a deserted house, only to discover something sinister within. Something armed with a chainsaw.A little *beep* up but it was good.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsJohn TravoltaUma ThurmanSamuel L. JacksonThe lives of two mob hitmen, a boxer, a gangster and his wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption.I saw it again last month with my sister who has never seen it. She loved it.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsMichael CeraMary Elizabeth WinsteadKieran CulkinIn a magically realistic version of Toronto, a young man must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes one by one in order to win her heart.10 out of 10. It's a shame it didn't make it into the box office.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellSarah BerryDan HicksAsh Williams, the lone survivor of an earlier onslaught of flesh-possessing spirits, holes up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue their attack. Not as great as the first one. The mixture of comedy and horror, didn't really work for me. And the end was just stupid.
- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsBob HoskinsChristopher LloydJoanna CassidyWhen a cartoon rabbit is accused of murder, he enlists the help of a burnt out private investigator to prove his innocence.I watched this morning after many, many years. I still love it and find it amusing.
- DirectorSam LiuStarsJames DentonChristina HendricksAnthony LaPagliaAfter being poisoned by sun radiation, a dying Superman decides to fulfill his lifelong dreams while Lex Luthor has his own agenda. This is the greatest animated film of Superman ever! I watched it with my little brother and we both LOVE it!
- DirectorRob ReinerStarsWil WheatonRiver PhoenixCorey FeldmanA writer recounts a childhood journey with his friends to find the body of a missing boy.Today, I watched two films by Rob Reiner. One was brilliant and one was just awful. This one got the bright spot. Based upon a short story by Stephen King, a group of friends set off on a journey to find a dead body and turn it to the police so they can become heroes. Excellent movie.
- DirectorRob ReinerStarsElijah WoodBruce WillisJason AlexanderSick of the neglect he receives from his mom and dad, a young boy leaves home and travels the world in search of new parents.Horrible movie, horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE writing, loaded with stupid jokes and embarrassing moments. Not for kids, not for adults, it just sucks! Give me back my hour an a half. Do not watch this piece of *beep*
- DirectorWes CravenStarsDavid ArquetteNeve CampbellCourteney CoxWhile Sidney and her friends visit the Hollywood set of Stab 3, the third film based on the Woodsboro murders, another Ghostface killer rises to terrorize them.Great film to close the trilogy. Good suspense, good action, the choreography in the fight scenes it's pretty damn cool. It has some plot holes, though.
- DirectorRichard BenjaminStarsMelanie GriffithEd HarrisMichael Patrick CarterA group of young boys befriend a prostitute named V.I got so nostalgic watching this I almost cried. This movie is from my childhood, we own the VHS, and I watched with my sister like three times a month, the score is excellent and though the movie is not the most innocent ever, it has a good plot in my opinion. I remember back then I wish to have a mother so nice and beautiful like V. I kinda hated the Nostalgia Critic sent this movie to hell.
- DirectorTakao OkawaraKazuki ÔmoriStarsMasahiro TakashimaRyoko SanoMegumi OdakaThe United Nations assembles the ultimate weapon to defeat Godzilla, while scientists discover a fresh pteranodon egg on a remote Japanese island.Watched it today. I loved it, this is the kind of movie I always wanted to see when I was little, too bad the only one I got the chance to watch was Godzilla 2000.
Great FX, great story, excellent soundtrack, probably the best I've listened in a Japanese movie. The end is awesome. - DirectorLarry CharlesStarsBill MaherTal BachmanJonathan BouldenBill Maher's take on the current state of world religion.Excellent documentary.
- DirectorMarc WebbStarsZooey DeschanelJoseph Gordon-LevittGeoffrey ArendAfter being dumped by the girl he believes to be his soulmate, hopeless romantic Tom Hansen reflects on their relationship to try and figure out where things went wrong and how he can win her back. This is truly the story of love. I completely loved it. The part Expectations vs. Reality broke my heart and made me remember many times I've lived like that one. It's incredible how a girl can shock a man's life. I hate that.
- DirectorEli CraigStarsTyler LabineAlan TudykKatrina BowdenAffable hillbillies Tucker and Dale are on vacation at their dilapidated mountain cabin when they are mistaken for murderers by a group of preppy college students.Great flick! I watched it with a friend and we laughed the entire movie!
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsSimon PeggNick FrostKate AshfieldThe uneventful, aimless lives of a London electronics salesman and his layabout roommate are disrupted by the zombie apocalypse.I just finished watching it. Hilarious! :D I knew about the movie since I watched the extra features of the Dawn of the Dead DVD, back in 2005, but I just decided to watch it tonight, almost six years later. Awesome movie, I saw it with my sister and it was so funny! I love British humor!
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsDuane JonesJudith O'DeaKarl HardmanA ragtag group of Pennsylvanians barricade themselves in an old farmhouse to remain safe from a horde of flesh-eating ghouls that are ravaging the Northeast of the United States.I hopeless movie for a hopeless guy...
- DirectorEdgar G. UlmerStarsTom NealAnn SavageClaudia DrakeThe life of Al Roberts, a pianist in a New York nightclub, turns into a nightmare when he decides to hitchhike to Los Angeles to visit his girlfriend.A nice Film-Noir for this cloudy afternoon. Women are fickle bitches. They always think they can get away with everything.
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsDavid EmgeKen ForeeScott H. ReinigerDuring an escalating zombie epidemic, two Philadelphia SWAT team members, a traffic reporter and his TV executive girlfriend seek refuge in a secluded shopping mall.Probably the best George Romero's film I've checked. Excellent story. Great development. The soundtrack goes from suspense to cheer. The zombies looks frightening, they also look stupid, and they also look funny. I think this is better than Zack's Snyder's Dawn of the Dead.
- DirectorS.F. BrownriggStarsBill McGheeJessie Lee FultonRobert DracupA young psychiatric nurse goes to work at a remote asylum following a murder. There, she experiences varying degrees of torment from the patients.I'm having a little Festival at home consisting by movies under Public Domain. This is one of them. I liked it. I found a little difficult to understand some of the dialogs, due to the quality sound. It's a low budget film but it's great. It has a not so surprising twist.
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsLori CardilleTerry AlexanderJoseph PilatoAs the world is overrun by zombies, a group of scientists and military personnel sheltering in an underground bunker in Florida must decide on how they should deal with the undead horde. This is by far Romero's best film. Another happy ending! It contains three likable characters, also a mad scientist doing some interest experiments concerning zombie psychology. Batteries included!
- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsMatthew ModineR. Lee ErmeyVincent D'OnofrioA pragmatic U.S. Marine observes the dehumanizing effects the Vietnam War has on his fellow recruits from their brutal boot camp training to the bloody street fighting in Hue.Nice watching. I'm not a fan of Nam war movies, but my dad is (he's a hardcore fan of Tour of Duty) and we saw this together. It was good. I think it's overrated and it doesn't stand to be in the Top 250. The story arc is not that interesting and the end is not, well, is not epic. Is just a crazy sniper girl wiping soldiers. I've heard about this movie since forever and I just thought it was going to be outstanding, but it's just a mix between Saving Private Ryan with Fahrenheit 9/11. I would have given it 10/10, but then there was this particular scene where they play at the background that stupid and annoying Bird song Peter Griffin was obsessed about once. They put the whole goddamn song! I almost stopped watching Family Guy over that embarrassing episode, I know this came first but anyway, I freaking hate that Bird-is-the-word nonsense.
- DirectorMiguel ZacaríasStarsGaspar HenaineErna Martha BaumanAmerica RamirezSaw this with my dad and my little brother. We enjoyed, my dad absolutely loves Capulina's films. He used to watch 'em when he was younger at the local theater with his late brother.
YouTube is featuring this and other public domain films. You should go check them out! They're many of them! - DirectorRobert KennerStarsMichael PollanEric SchlosserRichard LobbAn unflattering look inside America's corporate controlled food industry. This changed my mind about the way food is treated across the world. A must see. 10/10
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsBrad PittDiane KrugerEli RothIn Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a plan to assassinate Nazi leaders by a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers coincides with a theatre owner's vengeful plans for the same.Probably the best movie I've watched this year. This is truly Tarantino's masterpiece. Great acting, a totally 100x awesome script. It hooked me up since the first scene. 10/10.
- DirectorRobert BressonStarsNadine NortierJean-Claude GuilbertMarie CardinalA young girl living in the French countryside suffers constant indignities at the hand of alcoholism and her fellow man.Plain sad...
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsHarvey KeitelTim RothMichael MadsenWhen a simple jewelry heist goes horribly wrong, the surviving criminals begin to suspect that one of them is a police informant.Awesome movie! Tarantino is the greatest writer when it comes to create dialog. Excellent movie, action with jet-packs and stuff! I'm glad Steve Buscemi got out okay! Gotta love the guy!
- DirectorRoger AllersRob MinkoffStarsMatthew BroderickJeremy IronsJames Earl JonesLion prince Simba and his father are targeted by his bitter uncle, who wants to ascend the throne himself.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsRobert De NiroJodie FosterCybill ShepherdA mentally unstable veteran works as a nighttime taxi driver in New York City, where the perceived decadence and sleaze fuels his urge for violent action.7/10. Way overrated.
- DirectorShaun MonsonStarsJoaquin PhoenixUsing hidden cameras and never-before-seen footage, Earthlings chronicles the day-to-day practices of the largest industries in the world, all of which rely entirely on animals for profit.10/10 This is just the whole truth about the way we humans see and treat animals. This is what nobody wants to believe.
- DirectorBob DolmanStarsLuke BenwardHallie EisenbergAdam HicksDuring the first day of his new school year, a new kid in town squares off against a bully and winds up accepting a dare that could change the balance of power within his class.I watched it with my little brother. Very funny! 9/10
- DirectorTrey ParkerStarsTrey ParkerMatt StoneElle RussPopular Broadway actor Gary Johnston is recruited by the elite counter-terrorism organization Team America: World Police. As the world begins to crumble around him, he must battle with terrorists, celebrities and falling in love.I couldn't finish it. It has some funny lines but most of the jokes are stupid and not funny. The puppet sex scene just made me turn it off. I won't rate it nor see it again.
- DirectorKurt KuenneStarsKurt KuenneAndrew BagbyDavid BagbyA filmmaker decides to memorialize a murdered friend when his friend's ex-girlfriend announces she is expecting his son.Tragic history, how come the justice system makes decisions like this one? It's really touching 10/10
- DirectorAndré ØvredalStarsOtto JespersenRobert StoltenbergKnut NærumA group of students investigates a series of mysterious bear killings, but learns that there are much more dangerous things going on. They start to follow a mysterious hunter, learning that he is actually a troll hunter.Great Cloverfield-like flick!!! I really enjoy this kinda movies. 10/10.
- DirectorRupert WyattStarsJames FrancoAndy SerkisFreida PintoA substance designed to help the brain repair itself gives advanced intelligence to a chimpanzee who leads an ape uprising.10/10 Excellent movie.
- DirectorStephen HerekStarsKeanu ReevesAlex WinterGeorge CarlinTwo rock-'n-rolling teens, on the verge of failing their class, set out on a quest to make the ultimate school history report after being presented with a time machine.A great flick for a Saturday morning! :D
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsUma ThurmanDavid CarradineDaryl HannahAfter awakening from a four-year coma, a former assassin wreaks vengeance on the team of assassins who betrayed her.Meh, I expected more. There are some many fight scenes at the end you just don't give a crap. I wonder if anybody felt the same. You're just like waiting, thinking: "OK! Swords, and yeah, you can handle them really good. Oh, look another beheading, look. Another arm cut. I get it, blood everywhere. Yay." At the end you don't even care. All the characters are so stereotyped, it's like a live-action anime. Maybe if you've never seen Japanese cartoons you'll enjoy this, but if you've watched too much anime, all the cliché scenes and cheesy lines will make you puke out of embarrassment.
Nevertheless, I think I'll give volume 2 a chance. 6/10 - DirectorGreg MottolaStarsSimon PeggNick FrostSeth RogenTwo English comic book geeks traveling across the U.S. encounter an alien outside Area 51.This movie took away my hangover, awesome movie, I never really dig too much into Seth Rogen, but with Paul I do now. He does an excellent job lending his voice to the main character. The film has many funny moments, it's well developed, and one of the greatest things about it, is the casting, it has several members of SNL and two guys from Arrested Development which is awesome!
- DirectorPenny MarshallStarsDrew BarrymoreSteve ZahnAdam GarciaA single mother, with dreams of becoming a writer, has a son at the age of 15 in 1965, and goes through a failed marriage with the drug-addicted father.
- DirectorMartin RosenStarsJohn HurtChristopher BenjaminJames BolamTwo dogs escape from a laboratory and are hunted as possible carriers of the bubonic plague.Great movie, it's a journey in the search for freedom with a noir feeling, sad moments and everything just going downhill...
- DirectorSteven SoderberghStarsMatt DamonKate WinsletJude LawHealthcare professionals, government officials and everyday people find themselves in the midst of a pandemic as the CDC works to find a cure.Just watched it on the theater. Not good, mostly boring and predictable, the only worth actor was the awesome Bryan Craston, no one else. I just paid $10 to see Gwyneth Patrol playing Gwyneth Patrol. And to see her face the way Chris Martin sees it every morning ¬¬
- DirectorJason EisenerStarsRutger HauerPasha EbrahimiRobb WellsA homeless vigilante blows away crooked cops, pedophile Santas, and other scumbags with his trusty pump-action shotgun.Wow! You don't see a lot of films like this nowadays! It's pretty gory, funny and packed with tons of excellent lines. Despite being a B sort of movie, the dialog is excellent and very witty. I loved every minute of it. 10/10! The main character (yes, the hobo) is awesome! The villain is pretty great too. This film may offend most people due to the amount of blood in it and heavy subjects like blood fetish, pedophilia, corruption and heavy violence.
- DirectorDavid DobkinStarsJason BatemanRyan ReynoldsOlivia WildeDave is a married man with three kids and a loving wife, and Mitch is a single man who is at the prime of his sexual life. One fateful night while Mitch and Dave are peeing in a fountain, lightning strikes and they switch bodies.Olivia Wilde never look hotter! And that ass displayed on a 10 meters screen totally paid the tickets. Funny movie!
- DirectorMatthew VaughnStarsJames McAvoyMichael FassbenderJennifer LawrenceIn the 1960s, superpowered humans Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr work together to find others like them, but Erik's vengeful pursuit of an ambitious mutant who ruined his life causes a schism to divide them.It was good, I hated the soundtrack and some set ups. I'll stick with Bryan Singer's X-Men.
- DirectorLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackThe toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home. The best Pixar movie EVER!!! It made me laugh, choke on nostalgia and bring a manly tear. 10/10. I loved little Bonnie, I wish to have a daughter just like her one day :)
- DirectorChris MillerStarsAntonio BanderasSalma HayekZach GalifianakisAn outlaw cat, his childhood egg-friend, and a seductive thief kitty set out in search for the eggs of the fabled Golden Goose to clear his name, restore his lost honor, and regain the trust of his mother and town.I was disappointed, it was fine for a kids movie. But as enjoyable as Shrek or Shrek 2, never. It has a good plot but poorly executed.
- DirectorDanny BoyleStarsCillian MurphyNaomie HarrisChristopher EcclestonFour weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary.I hadn't watched it in years! I remembered how great it is. One of the best modern epidemic/disaster films.
- DirectorKinji FukasakuStarsTatsuya FujiwaraAki MaedaTarô YamamotoIn the future, the Japanese government captures a class of ninth-grade students and forces them to kill one another under the revolutionary "Battle Royale" act.I watched it again with little sister, didn't hold as much as the first time I saw it, but it's still a good film. 8/10
- DirectorNicolas Winding RefnStarsRyan GoslingCarey MulliganBryan CranstonA mysterious Hollywood action film stuntman gets in trouble with gangsters when he tries to help his neighbor's husband rob a pawn shop while serving as his getaway driver.I loved it, though the third act falls immensely. It could have been the greatest movie of the year if it wasn't for that. Anyway you don't see a noir film like this one nowadays, that's why I'll rate it 10 out of 10.
- DirectorPeter WeirStarsRobin WilliamsRobert Sean LeonardEthan HawkeMaverick teacher John Keating returns in 1959 to the prestigious New England boys' boarding school where he was once a star student, using poetry to embolden his pupils to new heights of self-expression.Caught the opening credits on Cinemax and having no other plan on a Sunday morning I decided to watched.
No regrets. Excellent film. The chose the right scene to end the movie, you feel the "epicness" right after it ends.
I just realized this takes places in an alternate universe to House, in which Dr. Wilson kills himself in his adolescence to avoid walking into medicine school :) - DirectorLisa AzuelosStarsSophie MarceauChrista ThéretJérémy KaponeWhen Lola's boyfriend is unfaithful to her on his summer holiday, she dumps him and flirts with his best friend as punishment. But as their class prepares to leave on an excursion to London, the relationship heats up.A friend asked me to join her to a film festival is taking place. This was tonight's movie. It was good, just a classic teenage conflictive movie, with bits of humor and an excellent soundtrack. Though I like happy endings I hate the overload of redemption this movie has. There's redemption EVERYWHERE. Like if everybody just suddenly found the right thing to do just for the sake of the film.
I enjoyed it, anyway... - DirectorTodd PhillipsStarsZach GalifianakisBradley CooperJustin BarthaThree buddies wake up from a bachelor party in Las Vegas, with no memory of the previous night and the bachelor missing. They make their way around the city in order to find their friend before his wedding. The last movie seen this year, the last item of the list. 6/10. Not that good as some people say.
See you next year!
