- DirectorLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackThe toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home.Pixar's greatest film to date. It's the same characters we loved as kids and then some. The adventure was heartwarming and heart-wrenching, funny and serious, dark and light. It was truly the best way to end one of the biggest franchises in movie history.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsJesse EisenbergAndrew GarfieldJustin TimberlakeAs Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins who claimed he stole their idea and by the co-founder who was later squeezed out of the business.A beautiful movie. The script was greatly written with many clever and memorable lines. The acting was great, especially from Jesse Eisenberg. The cinematography was just beautiful. The editing wasn't tricky as it danced from past to present. The music was pretty cool. However, people obviously care more about emotional connection than just mere observation, and thus I regard it as a misunderstood masterpiece.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster. The movie was awesome, but it's not as good as everyone claims it is. The story was creative. The cinematography was good. The special effects were really cool. All of this is true, but what holds me back is the standard quality of the acting. That probably goes back to the writing. Maybe the characters were so well-written that not much acting was needed. Can anyone name me three characters from this movie? and "Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character" or "Ellen Page's character" doesn't count.
- DirectorDarren AronofskyStarsNatalie PortmanMila KunisVincent CasselNina is a talented but unstable ballerina on the verge of stardom. Pushed to the breaking point by her artistic director and a seductive rival, Nina's grip on reality slips, plunging her into a waking nightmare.A strange and even somewhat inappropriate movie, Black Swan is actually an effective thriller. Darren Aronofsky captured the schizophrenic feel of Natalie Portman's character, and Natalie Portman did a good job playing that character. This movie could be viewed as cautionary about being immersed in your work. Remember Heath Ledger? My question is this: if it hadn't have been for the lesbian sex scene, would people have still liked it?
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsMichael CeraMary Elizabeth WinsteadKieran CulkinIn a magically realistic version of Toronto, a young man must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes one by one in order to win her heart. This movie was awesome and shouldn't have lost to the sights of The Expendables (seriously, people, what were you thinking?). What makes this movie awesome is the level of fun and entertainment that the story brings. The fight scenes were cool. The jokes were pretty funny. The evil exes were just awesome. The best thing, however, is that if someone were to describe this movie without using the words "and they do it like a video game", he or she would be describing a basic romantic comedy. Scott Pilgrim took an overdone genre and retold it creatively.
- DirectorBen AffleckStarsBen AffleckRebecca HallJon HammA proficient group of thieves rob a bank and hold an assistant manager hostage. Things begin to get complicated when one of the crew members falls in love with her.I barely saw this film before the year was over. I have to admit, it's actually pretty intriguing. Ben Affleck made a good movie about how your background doesn't necessarily have to tell you who you are. You don't have to be stuck into the lifestyle in which you were born. The story was pretty good. The acting wasn't bad. I may not be a Ben Affleck fan, but I must admit that he directed a good movie. It's a man's movie with a sensitive side.
- DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintAs Harry, Ron and Hermione race against time and evil to destroy the Horcruxes, they uncover the existence of the three most powerful objects in the wizarding world: the Deathly Hallows. One of the most anticipated films of the year, this movie gave me my money's worth and then some. I felt like the films were going downhill after the second one, but I saw them getting better at around the sixth one. The actors definitely matured and even got better as the years progressed. I'm really looking forward to Part II in the summer.
- DirectorJeff TremaineStarsJohnny KnoxvilleSteve-OBam MargeraJohnny Knoxville and company return for the third installment of their TV show spin-off, where dangerous stunts and explicit public displays rule. This movie was funny as hell. I haven't laughed this hard in forever. Yeah, some of it was gross (of course), but I got my money's worth from this film.
- DirectorPierre CoffinChris RenaudStarsSteve CarellJason SegelRussell BrandGru, a criminal mastermind, adopts three orphans as pawns to carry out the biggest heist in history. His life takes an unexpected turn when the little girls see the evildoer as their potential father.I didn't hate it.
- DirectorTom HooperStarsColin FirthGeoffrey RushHelena Bonham CarterThe story of King George VI, his unexpected ascension to the throne of the British Empire in 1936, and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch overcome his stammer.Firth and Rush were great in their roles, but it's not the Best Picture of 2010. The story is pretty typical and is told typically. "A man overcomes the odds". We've seen this story hundreds of times and fall for the sentimentality over and over again. That's probably how The Blind Side was so popular (which, don't get wrong, was a pretty enjoyable movie). It's not bad, but it's not THAT good.
