- From it's inception in 1996 in Philadelphia, FirstGlance has grown tremendously to become the first and only independent underground film and video festival to be presented in both Philadelphia and Los Angeles, and now taking place on the internet as well. (from the festival's web site, 2001)
- Since 2005 the festival also hosts a feature screenplay competition.
