- It follows the life of the Argentine boxer Oscar "Ringo" Bonavena to recount his rise, the glory of his success and his decline.
- 1976. Despite his career being on the ropes, Oscar "Ringo" Bonavena arrives in Reno, Nevada, seeking a rematch against Muhammed Ali. There, he meets the man who bought his contract, Joe Conforte. In 1963, a young Ringo is suspended in a controversial fight in the Pan American Games.
- Ringo returns to Argentina, in 1965, after his father passes away; the young boxer sets out to pursue the local heavyweight title. After his debut in Buenos Aires, he meets Tito Lectoure. In Reno, unfortunate news about Ringo's visa leads him to consider a proposal. Later, a fight doesn't go as planned.
- Ringo creates space between him and his inner circle, including Dora, after becoming Argentina's heavyweight champion; the boxer relishes the limelight. In Reno, Ringo must leave the Mustang Ranch after an argument with Joe Conforte. Sally, for her part, has something else in mind.
- 1968. Ringo is defeated by Jimmy Ellis in the heavyweight title eliminator; later, he faces Joe Frazier in a brutal bout in Philadelphia. Ringo and Sally's intimacy grows in Lake Tahoe.
- 1967. Ringo has a heavyweight title eliminator in Germany, fighting for the belt that was left vacant by Ali refusing to go to Vietnam. In Reno, Ringo grows closer to Tracy and Suárez, and eyes a business opportunity at the Mustang Ranch.
- Joe Conforte threatens Suárez and Ringo after they return from Lake Tahoe. In Buenos Aires, a mysterious promoter alters the course of Ringo's career.
- New York, 1970: Ringo gets his shot against Muhammed Ali in the biggest fight of his career. In Reno, Ringo's life comes to a tragic end at the Mustang Ranch.
