- An indigenous teen must overcome the vices of a broken family while caught up in a world of underground gambling and financial struggles. His luck changes when he lands a job with a moving company, but it soon leads to more trouble.
- Short'DEVICE', explores the concept and connection to a virtual world controlling people's actions. The idea that our every move can be monitored and dictated by a digital entity is not only unsettling, but it can raise questions about the nature of free will. If everything we do in the physical world is determined by what we do in a virtual one, do we really have control over our own lives? And what happens to those who refuse to participate in this virtual world? Are they outcasts, forced to live on the fringes of society? Or do they have the ability to shape their own destinies, free from the constraints of the digital realm? Utopia, where our every need is catered to with our actions guided for the greater good? Or a dystopian nightmare? Where individuality and autonomy are sacrificed in the name of order. Once the A.I. Web takes control of humanity, people are immersed and monitored by a system that can be heard in the film's soundscape. The story takes place in a "Web Cafe". One parameter of control implemented by the Web, is to forbid any action in the real world that can be performed virtually. All humans are assigned numbers, and number 2082, a Knitter, strays from the mandate by indulging herself with the pleasure of knitting. She is promptly approached by Zoram, a high ranking controller, who guides her to a conversion chamber in the cafe, where an app can be applied so that she can be re-aligned. Unfortunateley, her desire and fundamental human passion is incompatible with the program, and she expires. Next, 2083 enters the cafe, and places an order at the desk for coffee and pizza. Even though he is speaking English, his words are captioned to symbolize the manner in which language changes over time, this includes the profane, but official names used to specify the items he is ordering, the word 'please' is omitted. When he sits down and opens a paper book with a cover title "2084", other patrons notice his reading offence. Two new controllers, Dr. Five and Dr. Six, turn his order against him, as he too is approached and led to the conversion chamber, where 3 more controllers, including Zoram, wait to administer the app tailored to correct him. 2083 survives the conversion, left in a state of shock while finally being granted his original order, as promised by Dr. Six. 2084 Enters and its easy to sense there's something different about her. She opens a newspaper with a story about freedom on the cover in a provocative way, waiting for the next controller to notice. He leads her to the conversion chamber for her "safety and convenience" and 2084 is revealed to be the A.I. Killer! She's able to use the power of witchcraft on the controllers, and applies a reverse supernatural spell to destroy them, beginning a ripple effect that brings the A.I. Web down. As she exits the conversion chamber, the symbolism of an 'old' modem with wires plugged into it, shows that her power and presence transcends time and is retroactive. She unplugs the modem to perform the final step of the spell, thus eliminating the A.I. Web before its formation could be complete.
