- Ben gets into lots of mischief around the house. Local authorities are on the lookout for a missing bus and a zookeeper is interested in acquiring Ben for the zoo.
- Unusual wolf sightings are investigated by Warden Tom. A writer is interested in writing about Ben and the family. Mrs. Wedloe takes up writing too.

- Boomhauer is offered a large sum of money to sell his land. He is unhappy when he discovers what the new owner has planned for the property.

- Ellen (Beth Brickell) volunteers to take Mark and his Scout troop on an overnight camping trip when Tom (Dennis Weaver) isn't available. Reluctantly the boys accept Mark's mother to go along with them. When a hurricane threatens to swamp the island where they are camping and Ellen rescues the boys with Ben's help, the boys gain a new appreciation of her.
- The new bank president gives Mr. Boomhauer a one week deadline to make his past due mortgage payment.
- Tom investigates reports of illegal fishing activity. Mark promises his school friends that Ben will put on a show of tricks.
- When Boomhauer is out bird watching he sees Mark getting worked over by bully Freckles Dunlap (played by Ronny Howard.)
- Concerns about littering inspire the creation of a new Junior Game Wardens club. Mark competes to become president of the club. His biggest competitor is the most popular boy in school.
- A young man with a flashy car and city ways comes to the Everglades to be an apprentice to warden Wedloe.
- While playing pirates Mark and his friend Willie have a strange encounter with a giant in the swamp. Local trappers complain to the warden about vandalized traps. A crew surveying for a new highway has their work sabotaged.
- Mark and Ben spend time with their new friend. Tom continues to investigate sabotage of the construction crew. He suspects Boomhauer may be the culprit.
