- Jim Gordon, the son of a proud and loving father, enters the University of California as a student. There he meets Mary Ward, a campus coed who captures his heart on the first day. He becomes close friends with Larry Powell, his roommate, but incurs the wrath of Kenneth Slade, who is unable to take a practical joke. Jim and Larry attend a campus dance with Bessie and Phyllis, two vamps, and through a series of romantic complications Jim tries to convince Mary of his love for her. Later, Louise successfully waylays Jim on his way from the training field and the sight of them disillusions Mary; trying to repair matters in a classroom, Jim is reprimanded, is physically punished by Professor Maynard, and is expelled. Later he is reinstated by the dean and plans to join the football squad against Stanford, but the day of the game finds him again in disgrace because he has gone to a roadhouse to protect Mary from her jazzy companions, and then to assist her after an accident. At the last minute, he is called into the game, and his team wins.
- Two gold-diggers befriend a country girl who comes near being deceived by rich playboy but is saved by a girl whose life he ruined. Lettie finds happiness with poor but honest working man.
- Dave, Mary Heath's brother, is accidentally killed in a gambling den. Her sweetheart, John Trevor, discovers that the den is secretly owned by his mother, whom he has considered to be independently wealthy. John denounces his mother, despite the fact that the money she earned supported him in college. As Dave was the head of the Heath household, John, feeling responsible for the boy's death, offers himself as a replacement. At first treated as a slave in the household, John later wins the family's love by risking his life during a snowstorm to save the Heath twins.

- In the small farming community of Spring Valley, young Aurora Lane causes a scandal by bearing the son of townsman Lucius Henderson, who refuses to marry her or even admit that he's the father. Shunned as a "sinful" woman by most of the town, she turns over her son Don to be raised by Miss Julia, the town librarian, who tells the boy that she's his "aunt". Don grows up and goes to college, and when he comes back home the town gossips begin a rumor-mongering campaign. When the town policeman tries to drive Aurora out of town he is found murdered, and Don is arrested for the crime.
- Jim Wallace, a young engineer, is engaged by Hammond, manager of an estate in the Northwest, to build flumes for a logging camp, but Donovan, the superintendent, dislikes him and places numerous obstacles in his way. Virginia Coulson, owner of the estate, and her maid Dot arrive, and when Hammond proposes to Virginia, she refuses his declaration in favor of Jim. Later, when Donovan is found murdered, suspicion points to Jim, who is convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. Hammond gets evidence on the murderer, Goofus, a half wit, and plans to use it to force Virginia to marry him; Goofus wounds Hammond and, seeing he has not killed him, starts a forest fire. Jim, who has escaped from prison with the aid of his friend, Buddy, rescues Virginia from the burning lodge; Goofus confesses to the murder, and Jim is freed.
- SYNOPSIS In the Sevier River mountain area of Utah, horse wranglers Lee and Cuth Stewart, famous for their skill, are unable after several encounters to capture the wild stallion Lightning. Later, in Chicago, where they are seeing the sights, the boys meet and flirt with Dot and Mary, two entertainers who are doing a Topsy and Eva act; by their third meeting the brothers are ready to propose, but the girls leave town unexpectedly with their money and no intentions of marriage. Back in Utah, Lightning, attracted to Lee's pet mare, Bess, invades their camp and takes her away. The boys' pursuit leads them into the desert, which the girls are crossing by airplane; after a forced landing, the boys take the girls "prisoner," putting them to work. The girls escape and almost die in a sandstorm, but Lee and Cuth rescue them and also subdue Lightning; all are happily reunited.
- Mary Young, a young wife who longs for beautiful clothes, is invited by her friend Enid to shop at Madame Francine's, where she meets the Countess de Fragni, an artist, and Mr. Norris, an elderly roué. Mary, persuaded by Enid, buys an expensive fur coat with money she wins in a poker game and tells her husband that she won it with a pawn ticket; she agrees to earn back the money by posing for the countess, and her husband, Matthew, unexpectedly finds her there in a compromising situation with Norris. Joe, Enid's husband, also suspects his wife of infidelity and follows her to the countess' house, where Enid falls to her death from the balcony. Mary goes to Norris' apartment to prevent Matthew from killing Norris, and having been convinced that he has been ungenerous with his wife, he repents.
- Jerry McKay (Jacqueline Logan), a spoiled and willful society girl, on the eve of a flighty engagement, decides to accompany her father to inspect some property he owns, managed by a handsome young engineer, James Warren (Robert Frazer). Jerry demonstrates her prowess as a marksman, though Warren has forbidden the use of firearms; and Tom Webb (Henry Sedley), an unscrupulous rancher, accuses Warren of inciting his men against him. Warren's stern rebuking infuriates Jerry, and she bets her friends that she can get him to propose within a week. She succeeds in winning his approval and then falls in love with him, but they are temporarily parted when he learns of the wager. She returns, however, to seek his forgiveness.
- After young Robert Wade throws a lavish party at the family ranch, his father, Dent Wade, sends Bob to California to mend his wastrel ways by making a success of the family's faltering ranch in California. During the trip, Bob and his friend, Chub Biggs, are robbed of their papers. Upon their arrival at the ranch, they discover that manager Russ DeLaine is not happy that they have come. Unknown to Bob and his father, DeLaine has been embezzling the ranch profits. When two of DeLaine's men become rough with Bob and Chub, DeLaine's daughter Margy intervenes, and soon she and Bob fall in love. Sometime later, after Bob finds his stolen papers in DeLaine's safe, he gives them to Chub to take to the local sheriff. Meanwhile, Blacky, one of DeLaine's henchmen, kidnaps Margy. Bob comes to her rescue, knocking Blacky into a pit during a fight. As he is dying, Blacky informs Bob that DeLaine is not Margy's real father. Later, Bob proves himself to his newly arrived father and the sheriff when he captures the escaping DeLaine.
- Julia, Myrtle, Fanny, and Jane - all chorus girls, after weeks of rehearsing for a show, find themselves stranded when the manager is broke. Evicted for not paying the rent, they try various schemes to get food and lodging.
- The citizens of a small western town are suspicious of mysterious stranger Dick Alwyn and wonder if he is an escaped bandit. Dick proves his mettle to Dolly, the daughter of a local ranch owner, by rescuing her from a possibly fatal accident, and the couple falls in love. Dick also displays his bravery by breaking a fierce wild horse, but is still threatened with being lynched by an irate mob of townsfolk, who believe that he is a bandit. Dick escapes and captures the real culprit. Upon his return to town, Dick reveals that he is actually a U.S. Deputy Marshal.
- Richard Lane isolates himself in the African interior for 5 years after his sweetheart, Natalie, marries Norman Travers. Travers, who tires of family life and neglects his wife and son, drifts into an affair with Nita Howard, a cabaret dancer. When Travers' ship is reported lost inward from Europe, Lane hears the news and determines to return and win Natalie; soon Lane develops a fondness for Natalie and her child, Bobby, and she consents to marry him. Travers, however, is rescued from a desert island and refuses to grant Natalie a divorce. Lane finds Travers murdered; and thinking that Natalie is guilty, he surrenders himself to the police. She denies his guilt, but the chief of detectives discovers that Nita Howard is the murderess. Lane is happily united with Natalie.
- "Hurricane" Jack Foster is a smuggler who ignores his wife and child in order to pursue Marguerite Blair, the unhappy wife of the Chief Ranger of the North West Mounted Police. Foster lays plans for his final theft, after which he will elope with Marguerite, although Blair lays his own plans to thwart his rival. Dispirited over Blair's lack of attention, Marguerite nonetheless calls his office before running away with Foster in a last effort to reconcile with her husband. Marguerite cannot reach Blair but does receive a message that his remoteness has been due to his job rather than "another woman." When Foster then attempts to carry out his plan and knocks out Blair in the process, Marguerite does not hesitate to shoot Foster. With Foster and his gang rounded up, the Blairs reconcile.
- Assuming he is marrying a wealthy girl; Peter Foley passes a fraudulent check and to save him from jail, Julia Barry poses as his wife. Peter is actually in love with Alice Blake, and he encounters complications with Bull, a motorcycle cop who is actually engaged to Julia. Alice and a false friend add to the mix-up; and through various chases and complications they are all snowbound together in a mountain lodge. After numerous attempts to catch or elude one another, a happy ending prevails for all.
- A pugilist sprains his ankle during a street brawl and is taken care of by a girl who loves him. Believing her love is returned, she makes preparations for their marriage. Deserting the girl at the altar, the fighter realizes his love for the girl when her vision appears to him, while down for the count in the ring, and this enables him to win the battle.
