During a worldwide Ebola outbreak, terminally ill Leon Kendall undergoes the first human test of the process virtually suspending his existence for 40 years. During his "absence", cures for all diseases are found, and upon his return -- to him it was a mere moment , he learns that he has become the first person to have cheated the aging process: he is 40 years younger than he would have been had he not undergone Edgerton's experiment.
- Two Ohio journalists, on their way back to work after lunch, impulsively stop for a college-aged hitchhiker. En route, they encounter two female groupies hoping to locate a punk band supposedly playing at a hotel down the road. After some hi jinks, the girls find their band. Finally reaching Toronto, the newsmen discharge their ungracious passenger. Six months later, in an anonymous letter to the editor, the reason for his silence emerges.
