- This is not a Documentary in any form, shape or fashion. But it is one of the very few exploitation-burlesque films that wasn't filmed with one camera from the back of a burlesque theater, and one of the even-fewer films of this genre that had a plot that was more than just a series of strippers performing in-between a series of no-talent comics interrupting the stripping. The plot here involves two burlesque fans---the whole burlesque-show and not just the strippers---reading that a university is preparing a time capsule on the arts and is not considering burlesque for inclusion. They bring film and camera to the board meeting, and force the board members to look at examples of the "art of burlesque," featuring Georgia Southern and Rosita Royce...and her well-trained birds...and the inevitable comedians. As an extra added attraction---for who-knows-who--- the 1953 "Mr. America" makes an appearance. For the "film-in-a-film" finale, nine barely-clad girls come on stage each carrying a letter that spells out 'Burlesque,' while they sing its praises. (This part looks like the usual shot-at-the-theater stuff.) Back at the University, the board members are convinced and agree to add 'Burlesque' to its tribute-to-the-arts time capsule. There is a shortened DVD version that is missing eight minutes, and one can only hope that includes the "Mr. America" footage.
- A killer known as 'The Dark Man' commits double murder. This is witnessed by the young aspiring actress Molly Lester. The Dark Man tries everything to put Molly out of the way. Detective Inspector Viner of Scotland Yard investigates the murders.
- Newly arrived Army chaplin Captain Paris (Alastair Sim) attempts to book various acts for the entertainment of a troop of soldiers.
- In a small town in the 1950s, a repertory company meets on Monday morning to start rehearsing the following week's play. This is a ghastly thing written by the aunt of one of the theatre's directors. The producer doesn't try to hide his annoyance about it, and is further exercised when the authoress arrives to help. The cast have to try and sort out real-life problems that keep intruding as they wrestle with the play's dire dialogue.
- "Five-Sided Triangle", while geometrically incorrect, might be a better title for this film that the two it has. A private in the Guards is forced to leave his girl friend in the (not-for-long) empty house of a high-ranking civil servant. The son discovers her and promptly falls in love. When the daughter returns, she decides that it would be best if the girl got together with her boy friend, not realizing that the sentry has worshipped her from afar, the daughter. A further complication is that the sentry's commanding officer is in love with her also.

- In 1945, Mischa, a Red Army officer, discovers a frightened German girl, Anna, huddled in a Berlin cellar. He gives her a safe escort home and wins her gratitude. Seven years later, Mischa returns to Berlin as a civilian engineer in charge of factory production. He remembers Anna and searches for her in the western sector, where he is observed by the Secret Police. He is instructed to report to the police chief, Kazanow, who reprimands him for leaving the eastern zone. While there, Mischa discovers that Anna is Kazanow's secretary. Factory manager Schultz resents the Russians and attempts to murder Mischa, who is seriously injured but recovers and wins Schultz's respect and confidence. Schultz tells Mischa he is planning to escape to the western zone, and Mischa gives him the address of a contact in free Germany. Schultz's plan is uncovered by the police and he commits suicide. When they find the contact's address, Mischa and Anna, now deeply in love, are forced to flee. There, the Russian secret police trick Anna into a car and start the drive back to the eastern zone from which there is no way out.
