When Atalanta tries to help Prince Meleager track the metal boar, the uncles shun her, being just as prejudiced against the uncouth "wild girl" as the goddess Artemis. In the end, to Artemis' dismay, it is Meleager, and not Atalanta, who is nearly killed by the boar, leaving the goddess to regret her jealousy. But Meleager survives, and accepting Atalanta for who she really is, wins her heart.

This time, he is sent to yet another king, along with a letter requesting he be put to death. But this third king has a conflict. On one hand, he fears reprisal from the other king if he fails to carry out the demands of the letter. On the other hand, his daughter, Philonoe has fallen in love with Bellerophon. Wanting to wash his hands of the problem, the king sends Bellerophon off to defeat the Chimera, a fire-breathing monster that has been terrorizing his kingdom, certain the young hero will die in the attempt. But just as Bellerophon is about to set out to kill the monster, Philonoe reveals the letter. Even though he now knows he's being sent to his death, Bellerophon decides to go on anyway, determined to free the citizens from the fire-breathing Chimera. For his brave and selfless efforts, the goddess, Athena gives Bellerophon a golden saddle. Putting it on Pegasus, Bellerophon becomes the first mortal ever to fly on the great horse and together they kill the Chimera.

But though he was a man of great talent, he was also an ambitious man who sought fame and fortune above all this. His son, Icarus, idolized his father and followed in his shoes, becoming just as talented and just as much of a glory seeker. Blinded by his ambition, Daedalus fails to honor his promises to the goddess, Athena, who helped the inventor become successful. In punishment, the goddess causes the great museum that Daedalus built to crumble to the ground, accidentally killing Talos, Daedalus' apprentice. Blamed for the boy's death, Daedalus is imprisoned. But Icarus helps his father escape to Crete where they hope to once again be appreciated for their talent. King Minos of Crete offers Daedalus and Icarus fame and glory like never before, but in return he demands that the great inventor build him weapons of war. Giving in to temptation, Daedalus agrees, only to see his incredible weapons used to defeat the Athenians, and his labyrinth (the inescapable underground maze) used to imprison them. All this violence against Daedalus' own people causes great regret in the inventor, but when he voices this to Minos, he and Icarus are imprisoned in the very labyrinth they built. Desperate to escape, father and son make two pairs of wings from the feathers of birds. But though Daedalus has learned his lesson about the pitfalls of fame and glory, Icarus has not. Determined to fly higher than the gods, Icarus fails to heed his father's warning to not fly too close to the sun. The wax holding together Icarus' wings melts away and the boy falls into the sea.

As our twosome confront the deadly "Horses of Diomedes" and the giant "Stymphanian Birds", Hercules becomes more and more impressed by Iolas' cleverness. But Iolas, convinced that what makes a hero is his strength, cannot see the value in this. In the end, when Hercules is forced to face the "River God", and appears to have met his match, Iolas finally understands that every hero has his own unique strength. Using his brains instead of his brawn, Iolas helps Hercules to outsmart the River God and becomes a hero in his own right.

Determined to do what's best for his people, Jason accepts the challenge. Jason recruits the heroes, Hercules, Atalanta, Orpheus and Zetes and Calais (gods of the wind) for his crew, and with the help of the goddess Athena, builds the Argo, the greatest sailing ship ever. But soon the inexperienced Jason's leadership skills are tested to the limit when his Argonauts (great heroes who have never failed before) find the challenges of this journey beyond their abilities. It's up to Jason to get the nearly defeated heroes to work together as a team in order to get past the deadly "Clashing Rocks" and to defeat the giant Harpie Birds. The Argonauts work together and succeed, and once again set sail for the island of Colchis where the Golden Fleece resides.

Perseus tries to stop Polydectes, but the cunning king goads Perseus into proving he is really the son of a god by bringing back the head of the monster Medusa. When Zeus learns of this, he suddenly pays attention to his mortal son, sending the god, Hermes, to talk Perseus out of this futile quest. But Perseus resents his father's help -- he was never there before when Perseus needed him. Determined to defeat Medusa on his own terms, Perseus visits the "Grey Sisters", three ghastly witches, who offer him a choice of weapons or wisdom. The rash Perseus takes the weapons and is nearly turned to stone by the snake-haired Medusa. A desperate Perseus finally realizes that he does need the help of others. Reconciling things with Zeus and returning to the "Grey Sisters", Perseus is given advice along with a polished shield, and using both, tricks and defeats Medusa. Then he returns to King Polydectes with Medusa's head and turns the King and his soldiers to stone, thus freeing his mother.

Phaeton watches enviously as the other young boys ride their father's chariots in the local chariot race. He wishes he could win the heart of the lovely Delona, the girl who supposedly belongs to Lexicus, the champion of the chariot racers. After he is embarrassed by Lexicus in front of Delona for not having a chariot of his own, Phaeton asks his godly father if he can borrow the sun-chariot for a race. But Helios refuses, advising his son not to try to seek approval from others, and warning him of the dangers of riding the sun chariot before he is ready. Meanwhile, Dionysus, god of wine and revelry, having bet on the mortal's chariot race, loses his prized orchards to Zeus. Determined to get them back, Dionysus tries to convince Phaeton to "borrow" his father's sun-chariot so he can bet on him in a race. When Phaeton refuses, Dionysus uses his magic to make Phaeton's horses go crazy causing the boy to crash his homemade chariot in front of Lexicus and Delona. This time Phaeton responds to the teasing with a challenge - to race Lexicus along a dangerous ridge before sunrise. To Dionysus' delight, Phaeton enters his father's stables to borrow the chariot. But before he can take the reins, he spooks the horses and they take off on a hair-raising ride across the sky, setting forests ablaze and turning lakes to steam, nearly destroying the entire earth before Phaeton finally gains control of them. Turning the chariot around, Phaeton causes time to go backwards, enabling him to undo his terrible deed. Back the stables, he faces his father and takes his punishment like a man, having learned his lesson. In the final race, using his own chariot, Phaeton defeats Lexicus and wins the heart of Delona.

While Epimetheus uses his godly powers to create "birds" and "horses", Prometheus stumbles upon primitive man. Seeing these intelligent beings toiling against the harsh environment, Prometheus decides to give them the gift of fire so that they can create a great civilization. When Zeus refuses Prometheus' request to give fire, Prometheus disobeys, steals fire from the gods and gives it to man. Using the fire, man begins to flourish. But Zeus finds out that Prometheus disobeyed him and chains the young god to a cliff leaving eagles to peck at his body. Then, to punish man, Zeus creates Pandora and gives her a box that she is never to open. Hearing voices calling to her from inside the box, Pandora is overcome with curiosity and opens it, unleashing all the ills of mankind upon civilization. But just when it looks like Zeus has proven that man is not deserving of the gifts of gods, a despairing Pandora discovers one last "tiny voice" emanating from inside the box, claiming to be "hope". Pandora conquers her fear and releases "hope" from the box, and "hope" fills the hearts of man so that they can conquer all the "ills" that Pandora had released before. Seeing Pandora's selfless act, Zeus realizes that mortal man is deserving after all and frees Prometheus from his chains.
- 1998–200022mTV-GTV EpisodeWhile undertaking his famous "Twelve Labors", imposed upon him by the vengeful goddess, Hera, Hercules saves a village from the Nemean Lion. Witnessing this, the young sheepherder, Iolas, who idolizes Hercules, decides to follow him and find out what makes such a great hero tick. But Hercules doesn't consider himself a hero at all. He has done something long ago that is still haunting him now, and he fights Hera's beasts to try to make up for what he has done. While Hera rejoices at Hercules sufferings, Iolas longs to help his hero free himself from this dark secret. Then, just before Hercules is to fight the nine-headed Hydra, he finally reveals his past to Iolas. When he was young and prideful, he challenged the gods of Olympus by claiming he could shoot an arrow all the way to the sun. With help from an angry Hera, the flaming arrow returned to earth and burned a village. Hercules feels he can never be forgiven for this deed. But before the Hydra can defeat Hercules, Iolas gets him to see that he must stop punishing himself for the past -- and to see that his worth as a hero is in helping those who need him now. Seeing the truth in this, a renewed Hercules defeats the Hydra. But his labors aren't over yet.

With the weapon in hand, he journeys to Athens where he re-unites with his long lost father. But the happy re-union is short-lived when Theseus discovers that his father, having been defeated in war by the evil King Minos of Crete, is being forced to sacrifice seven sons and seven daughters to the half-man, half-bull monster called the Minotaur. Determined to put a stop to this terrible tribute, Theseus volunteers to become one of the fourteen and sails off to Crete. But his attempt to overthrow King Minos is thwarted, and he and his fellow Athenians are imprisoned. Now it's up to Theseus to enter alone into the "labyrinth" (an enormous underground maze) and defeat the monstrous Minotaur if he is to save his people.

Though Ulysses senses danger, his men insist on hunting for food and soon come upon a hauntingly beautiful palace where all the wild animals are as tame as pets, the dining hall is made of gold, and beautiful nymphs serve every kind of culinary delicacy imaginable. Falling to temptation, the men ignore Ulysses' warnings and indulge in Circe's offerings, only to be turned into pigs by the cunning sorceress -- all part of her plan to lure the great Ulysses into her arms. Desperately searching for his missing crew, Ulysses confronts the alluring Circe and is nearly won over by her. But in the end, his loyalty to his Queen and his crew hold strong and Ulysses battles the shape-changing sorceress, returns his men to normal again and escapes from the perilous island.

All this attention to a mortal angers Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Out of vengeance, she sends her son Eros to fire one of his golden "love arrows" at Psyche to get her to fall in love with a mule. But instead Eros falls in love with Psyche, not for her beauty, but for her kind and caring nature. Determined to prove to his mother that Psyche will love him for who he really is -- and not because he's a god, Eros sees to it that Psyche is delivered to his magnificent palace, and then turning himself invisible, courts the beautiful princess. Soon Psyche falls in love with her invisible host, who will not reveal his identity. But Psych becomes lonely and convinces Eros to let her sisters visit her just once. When the jealous sisters fill Psyche's mind with the idea that her invisible lover might just be a monster preparing to devour her, Psyche's trust falters and she sneaks into Eros' bedroom and discovers his human form. But Eros is awoken, and angered over Psyche's lack of trust, sends her away. Begging to have a second chance, Psyche goes to Aphrodite who tells her if she wants Eros' forgiveness, she must journey to the underworld to fetch a box of beauty from Hades' Queen, Persephone, but warns her she must not open it. Psyche survives her underworld journey only to discover that it has made her grow old and gray. But having learned a lesson about true beauty, Psyche resists opening the box of beauty to restore her youth. In the end, she is reunited with Eros and his kiss brings back her beauty and their love for each other.
- After Bob and Margaret have a near-death experience when Bob nearly crashes their car, they decide to live their lives more fully.
- Seth who by now is prone to fits of fury due to his now hideous appearance deserts the defenders in a fit of rage. The rest of the Defenders stop to help a caravan of refugees fleeing the war ravaged countryside for the safety of the Arboth, unaware that Brackus and his Mercenaries are descending on the village of Arboth as well, having identified it as the source of the Di-Gata stones from which the pure stones are carved. The Defenders choose to stay and, against all odds, help the peaceful Arbothians repel the invaders. The cause seems hopeless until Seth, having remembered his calling and his duty, returns to save the day.
- The Defenders have chosen their course; they have refused to re-cast the Spell of Binding as their mentor Professor Alnar had ordered. Are they simply naïve in thinking they can stop the cycle of violence? Or are they heralding a new era of peace? With Nazmul locked in a stone and Brackus banished, they take on the Megalith.

- On their way to the Monastery of Amos-Yan to recover The Key, a device which will lead them to the four pure stones, Seth and his fellow Di-Gata Defenders are ambushed by a band of thieves. The inexperienced Defenders find themselves trapped and only escape with the aid of the roguish and mysterious Adam. Meanwhile, agents of the dreaded Order of Infinis, an evil organization intent on the release of the Megalith, arrive at the monastery ahead of the Defenders.
- On the run from Malco and Flinch and The Sand Nomads who have overrun the Dojo, Mel and Erik encounter Bo, a brash young stone slinger who tells them of a warrior cult competition being held in a nearby county. They quickly realize the trophy is nothing other than one of the prized pure stones. As Mel and Erik make their way into the heart of the enemy camp and fight their way to the trophy, Seth carries a gravely ill Kara into the Ban Yo swamp in search of the antidote that will save her life.
- Motherboard mistakenly sends a treasure map to Hacker. The treasure is the secret to the legendary cyber-pirate Ivanka the Invincible's invincibility. If Hacker finds it, cyberspace is doomed! To help Motherboard, the kids must find the secret treasure before Hacker does, and use their skill with angles to read the strange map that contains only riddles about twists and turns.

- Erik is kidnapped by a carnival of misfits and the Defenders must fight to get him back. Melosa is starting to have visions of a mysterious power growing within her. This power leads her to discover that the carnival is being controlled by a monstrous creature who threatens to destroy their memory forever.
- The Defenders find the way to the pure stone is blocked by the Dakonauts, Lord Nazmul's unstoppable robotic army. A strange psychic connection is revealed between Mel and Kara. And when the first stone is finally achieved it is at a terrible cost. Now the goal is not the rest of the stones, but saving Mel's life.
- The Defenders close in on the first pure stone. Their quest takes them to a remote jungle village where Erik is hailed as a Shaman, thereby making an enemy of the tribe's medicine man. As they try to gain information from the tribe about the pure stone, the defenders face a showdown with Infinis agents Malco and Flinch.
- For the first time in their lives, the defenders find themselves on the high seas and discover that their Di-Gata stones don't work over water! When bandits attack the ship they are traveling on, their friendly captain proves to be more than he appears. His trail leads them to a den of thieves where an arms auction is being held with the main attraction the prized pure stone. Tricking their way into the den of thieves, The Defenders discover that Adam had only "borrowed' the stone to stave off creditors and had every intention of stealing it back. When Mel is captured, the Defenders are in disarray, until Adam steps up to the plate. Using the phase stone, he frees Mel, helps to destroy the encampment and helps the defenders escape with the stones. The Defenders realize that Adam, for better or worse is someone who is becoming inextricably tangled in their lives.
- Mel dreams of a long lost monastery and a pure stone hidden there. Nazmul is able to read her dream and decides that it is Mel - the possessor of such power - whose body he must have as the host for his incorporeal being. He dispatches Malco and Flinch to kidnap Mel, unaware that Brackus has stolen Nazmul's key and has gone to the monastery for his own purposes- possession of the pure stone. Brackus gets away with the pure stone. But all is not lost. The Defenders now have the key and the realization that their enemies are divided. They may be safe - for a while.
- Kara is still feeling the effects of the spider poison, and Mel is suffering from spontaneous and draining eruptions of psychic power, The Defenders head for the legendary Nexus, over the centuries a traditional place of healing for Di-Gata defenders. But they find that the Nexus is not what it seems. Kali, a shape shifting agent of Nazmul has been charged with obtaining a body host for the ethereal Nazmul. Disguising herself as the Keeper of the Nexus, she welcomes them inside. And as Kara's wizard-like powers start to manifest themselves, Kali decides that Kara not Mel should be the one Nazmul seeks.

- In a surprise turn of events, Adam shows up at Brackus' safe house with the four pure stones and Kara in handcuffs. No sooner do we learn that Brackus is Adam's adoptive father he is betrayed by his son and turned over to Nazmul for his treason against the Order of Infinis. Adam's plan to align himself with Nazmul by turning in his father fails as he is thrown in a cell beside Brackus and slated for execution. Kara is grabbed and prepared for the host body transfer that will give Nazmul physical form. An enraged Seth leads an all out assault on the castle. Repentant for the error of his ways, Adam risks his life to free Kara. Along the way, he makes a final mistake, he sets Brackus free thinking he is no longer a threat. With Kara safe and the four stones in hand, the Defenders head for the place of binding, unaware that Brackus is already making plans.
- The defenders discover The Machine of Binding and Erik devises a plan to re-wire the machine to enable it to draw the pure stones to it. But their plan is foiled by an attack of Automatons - a creation of Flinch, now working for Nazmul - that suck the water from Erik's body. As Erik lies, gravely ill, a strange metamorphosis is taking place within Seth's body. He is sucked into his Guardian stone wherein he begins to slowly merge with his Guardian Kraggus. It's a change that will affect Seth both physically and psychologically and which may affect the outcome of their mission.
- At the place of binding, the defenders find themselves under attack. Brackus has raised an army against them. Even as Erik works feverishly to fire up the machine, the debate continues: are they even doing the right thing? Is it possible that Alnar could be wrong? When Nazmul arrives, having taken possession of Malco's body, the situation becomes even more perilous. A Nazmul/Malco combination is almost unbeatable. Except for one thing - the Seth/Kraggus merger. The enraged Seth throws himself hammer and tong into the battle with Nazmul. Using the Nova Stone, Seth defeats Nazmul. As the devastation rages from the re-binding process, the defenders are forced to answer the question that's been haunting them. Is Alnar's way the right way? Or should they trust their own instincts? Seth makes the decision. They shut down the machine.
