- Acclaimed designers, twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED2 join Launch My Line as hosts, and fashion notables Stefani Greenfield and Lisa Kline serve as judges. Each week the teams will be put to the test, as they have to rely on each other's expertise to get through the competition. Some teams form a natural connection while others have instant tension - but at the end of every episode a complete look from each team must walk the runway and be judged in front of a live studio audience.
- Ten well-known professionals, who are highly regarded in their own field of expertise, are paired with ten established fashion experts. The ten teams are put to the test, as they have to rely on each other's expertise to produce a cohesive fashion line. For their first challenge, the teams must create a signature piece for their collection. While some teams hit it off from the start, other teams have to work hard not to hit each other. Tempers flare and the pressure is high as everyone wants to impress the judges and win this first challenge.
- The designers are taken to Venice Beach to seek inspiration for a daytime look using colors and silhouettes that will set the trends for the upcoming season. The pressure takes a toll on the contestants as one expert threatens to leave his/her partner and the competition.
- For their third challenge, the contestants get up close and personal with exotic animals to draw their inspiration for their next garment. While one designer must confront a phobia to complete the challenge, another team takes a walk on the wild side that might be too much of a risk.
- A great designer understands the human body and treats it like a work of art. In the fourth episode of "Launch My Line" the designers are taken to an art gallery to look for inspiration to create asymmetrical eveningwear.
- The remaining designers are asked to create a three-piece outfit that would allow their target client to change her look for different events. With their baseline fabrics running out, the teams have to step up their game to make it into the final three.
- The perfect jean is not easy to come by - and the designers learn first hand just how difficult it is when they take a trip to a denim warehouse to learn fabric-distressing techniques. The teams are asked to make their own distressed garment to add to their line, but when the designers are asked to use their fellow competitors as inspiration, the truth comes out about how they feel about each other.
- One of today's most fashion-forward pop stars, Lady Gaga stops by to inspire the designers. The teams are asked to create an avant-garde outfit, but they must make sure they are pushing the boundaries of fashion without crossing the line of good taste.
- As the competition comes to an end, the designers realize putting a fashion line together is not as "glamorous" as it seems. For their last challenge, the remaining designers must create three new looks before showing their final 10-piece collection.
- A major Grammy Award-winning entertainer stops by for a surprise visit and the designers are inspired to pull out all the stops to impress the judges. The remaining contestants show their full collections in the final fashion show and a winner is announced.
