The film contains interviews with Stephen Daldry, the show's director; Elton John, music; Lee Hall, book and lyrics; and Peter Darling, the show's choreographer, along with other creative team members. Finding Billy explores the journey of the musical from feature film to a West End hit to Broadway and gives us an inside look at the creative process. The creative team also discuss the 1984 miner's strike in England that is the backdrop of this story. The documentary first aired on WNET, Channel 13 in 2008 and was nominated for two NY Emmys. When the rights reverted to the director, he added an epilogue that brings the three Billys into the present. A tribute to the perseverance and sacrifice of the kids and their parents, this film now features new interviews with the multi-talented Trent Kowalik, David Alvarez and Kyril Kulish and completes the show's journey from Broadway opening to its closing night on January 8th, 2012.
