- Terry Jones challenges the received Roman and Roman Catholic notion of the 'barbarian'.
- The film follows five years in the life of a young girl as she struggles against an onslaught of good intentions. From her first encounter with the social care system, through a range of foster placements, to a haunting climax, we are challenged to question how it is that so many well-intentioned people can do so much unintended damage. And how it is that the £4bn a year that people in the UK spend on children in care has failed to break the cycle of abuse, addiction and abandonment.
- In the 1970s, as El Salvador moved irrevocably closer to civil war, one man was known as the voice of the poor, the disenfranchised, the disappeared. Appointed Archbishop in 1977, Monsenor Oscar Romero worked tirelessly for peace, justice and human rights, while in constant personal peril. Using the power of the pulpit to denounce official corruption, he inspired millions with his nationally broadcast sermons, until in March of 1980, he was shot dead at the altar. With rare recordings and film footage, and a wide range of interviews with those whose lives were changed by Romero, including church activists, human rights lawyers, former guerrilla fighters and politicians, Monsenor is a timely portrait of the man's quest to speak the truth, though it cost him his life.
- The story of the Korean War is told through powerful color imagery, dramatic musical score and sound-scape. In the first episode, the summer of 1950 sees the people of Korea trapped in the vice-like grip of the beginnings of the Cold War, as the two new superpowers of the postwar world flex their muscles--the United States and the Soviet Union. In part 2 while the diplomats wrangle and the negotiators argue, the fighting in the blighted Korean countryside continues. Towns and villages lay in ruins, the hillsides and valleys are scarred by bomb craters, as negotiators attempt to handle the sensitive issue of the repatriation of prisoners of war.
- After Effects deals with a reality no mother expects to ever experience, the news she never dreamed of hearing.
