Thunder Road (2018)
Awful boring movie
Awful boring movie. I stuck with it waiting for extended close focus shots of a deadly dull main actor losing it and scenes often linking "action" with little contribution to the overall storyline.
Billed as an acclaimed comedy drama it was anything but. I longed for some meaningful helpful comedy. I longed for some meaningful helpful drama. But so often potentially entertaining scenes were focussed on the irrelevant details and I longed for another camera to show what was happening just off screen. I longed for the plot to be tighter and for there to be consideration in a sensitive way of what was av=actually happening.
Marriage (2022)
Dull and unrealistic
If people see this as the future of drama we are all doomed! It was dull patchy and very poor entertainment. It doesn't matter how good the actors, drama depends on much more than watching actors spend too long doing what we all do every day many times over. I could for example spend the next 400 characters describing the physical act of moving my unpractised, untrained fingers over this very dusty black keyboard, pausing often to correct mistakes, change words and think, pausing again to take an insignificant phone call, scratch my nose, sneeze, look out of the dirty window at someone I have no relationship walk on by...but how boring would that be? Please don't let great people be persuaded to more of this dire stuff.
Toivon tuolla puolen (2017)
So dreadfully short on so many fronts
I've never seen anyone respond as characters do in this film - all of them and it's so far from entertaining. I wanted to begin to like it but it never came close to making something of some of the plot line.
Naked (1993)
Dreadful product of the time with obvious highlights
Quite seriously this could not be made in 2021 and shouldn't. The dreadful treatment of women by the men in this film is no longer acceptable and offensive on so many levels.
There is wit and wisdom here but it's submerged in q dreary, messy England which I do not find entertaining.
Ray & Liz (2018)
Only of value to social workers or medical students
Truly awful portrayal of UK dysfunctional homelife. Long tedious shots just reinforce the awfulness.
Under the Skin (2013)
Three stars generous
The portrayal of thoughtless, unkind indifference is all the world needs in 2021. Offensive and ugly in almost every respect.
IMDb on the Scene - Interviews: Small Axe (2020)
Disappointingly messy production
Feel I need to write as so many glowing reviews in the papers. I found it depressingly dull, confusing and uninteresting, The sound quality was difficult and needed sub-titles displayed, Gave a poor presentation of good people.
Make Up (2019)
Awful awful awful
I don't usually review films I watch but having read the uterly unreliable Daily Telegraph review which said "This outstanding debut feature..." I feel others should not be in a position to waste their time. Dull, stupid people stringing rarely more than two uninteresting words together meaninglessly.
The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans (2009)
Possibly the worst film so far this decade
There was almost nothing to recommend this nasty film.
Did it entertain? NO
Did it improve the world? NO
Was it going anywhere after the first half hour? NO
Stopped watching after 80 minutes
American Honey (2016)
Dreadful, dreadful, dreadful
2 stars was generous and that's because we plodded on til the bitter hopeless "ending" How anyone could think this had anything worthwhile to say is beyond me. There were no redeeming features shown in this half-baked portrayal of American youth and indeed American culture. The US President is utterly dysfunctional we know but showing the whole country as such helps and entertains no-one. Characters were selfish, oafish, unkind, thoughtless,
The Lobster (2015)
Awful, awful, awful
Awfull at almost every level. Pointless, dull, horrible, nasty with nothing to say about anything.
High-Rise (2015)
Is this the worst film I have watched right to the end?
So many good actors - I kept looking to see if their expressions were betraying what they really thought of it - they didn't. To start promisingly and accelerate downhill all they way is some achievement!Disjointed - often never appreciated why a scene was slotted in. Boring - same old dystopia. Lack of any subtlety - just lurched into senseless extreme violence.
