Inventing Anna (2022)
A short story stretched too looong
I enjoyed watching when money was on display, and at the end I think I watched this through only to watch how Anna is living a lavish lifestyle and where all she will be spending money, which obviously she didn't possess. But in that desire, I accepted a lot of unanswered questions. Maybe Anna actually lived a life with so many unanswered questions only. But I found it very silly for all her friends to continue to believe in Anna after all she did. I can understand about banks, but friends? They saw it all, and still appreciated her? That is very difficult to digest. Don't know how true the portrayal was. Maybe it was indeed like that.
But anyway, whatever it was, it was too stretched for it. Some of the situations were repetitive, and I think it would have been more effective if it was an 8 hour series instead of 10 hours.
Hey! Sinamika (2022)
Beautiful screenplay that yields all the emotions!
The screenplay has a touch that you will find yourselves at the extreme ends of liking it. Either you will love it or you will despise it. I happen to be loving it. The slow motion technique has been beautifully used and I found myself in the awe of the camera movements.
The story may not be new but has been presented in a way that will make it a unique movie in itself. By the end of the movie, I was confused which actor of the three was the better one. Each one of them has been given a considerable screentime and they just nail it.
They could have definitely do without a couple of songs but that's how the Indian movies in general roll, so can't really complain there.
Was the ending toxic? I don't think so. I like happy endings. And, I was definitely hoping for this ending throughout. There should be nothing wrong in asking for forgiveness in love, if you have committed a mistake and even if you are "she". There is no question of masculine toxicity here.
Nikamma (2022)
A very poor remake
Middle Class Abbayi was much better than this in terms of screenplay and acting. Why do remakes have to even copy the location sets? I didn't know before I started this movie that it is a remake, but the first action sequence was a ditto and that made me stop watching it further.
Master (2021)
Entertaining
Has got a good plot around which the movie weaves its magic of romance, action, comedy, style, slow motion scenes, emotions, dance, music. A family entertainer and a much needed brake to go and watch in a cinema.
Maya Bazaar (1957)
Legendary and so sweet!
Wanted to watch this movie since so long after I heard of the legend. Had put it in my bucket list but never got the encouragement to watch it because it was a 3 hour long movie and a black and white one. But that magical night did arrive when I watched it and I must say this movie is wonderful! It's songs are so cleverly interwoven with the plot. The expressions are so lovable. The movie never lets the excitement fade away and never loses its plot. And, it is the first black and white that I have watched which uses animation techniques and that has also been handled so nicely. Sasirekha and Ghatotkacha were the standout characters for me. I watched it with English subtitles on, and it was a great watch!
