Heartstopper (2022)
One of the best LGBTQ+ shows out there
To be totally honest this is one of the best LGBTQ+ shows I've ever seen. The character dynamics are believable and great.
The soundtrack is filled to the brim with queer indie artists - and only good music!
The actors are amazing. A lot of youth actors, even in Netflix shows, aren't the best, but I couldn't tell that this was some of the actors debuts. But it was.
The whole way through, the show is respectful to the LGBTQ+ community, entertaining and just an experience to watch.
The Office (2005)
Hot take?
I don't like it.
I do not like the characters, I do not think the show is funny. I'm not entertained. I respect your opinion if you like it but I don't like it.
Polle Fiction (2002)
Terrible but funny movie
The movie is absolutely garbage. The characters aren't good, the production isn't good, the plot isn't good. Honestly nothing is good apart from the fact that it is funny.
Call Jane (2022)
An important story but a dull film
I watched this film at Berlinale, not knowing what to expect. And I wasn't blown away by it.
The film is pretty average but it gets a bit full at times. The story is obviously important but the film isn't super entertaining and it doesn't really live up to the story.
Anne+ (2021)
Pretty average
This film is pretty alright. It's not bad but it's not fantastic either.
It's honestly a mediocre movie but it's certainly nice to see more queer movies and see representation.
The production quality is pretty average, the soundtrack is nothing wild and the writing, at some times, lack. The characters worked. The plot was sometimes too eventful and at other times too uneventful. I would also have liked to have heard a little more about the book Anne is writing.
Note:
I have not seen the show this is based on(?) and I watched the english dub. Mostly because I do not enjoy listening to the Dutch language.
La ligne (2022)
Better than average
I saw this movie at the world premiere at Berlinale. I went into it without much knowledge of it beforehand. I pretty much only knew that it was a daughter who got a restraining order form her mom.
I didn't expect it to be anything to write home about. I was partly right about that.
The movie is a pretty good movie. It has great characters and makes the storyline work pretty well. And it certainly has it's moments.
That being said it's not one of the best films I've ever seen. It's definitely better than average but it's also not a big notable work of art.
Speak No Evil (2022)
Good but unbearable
This film is honestly pretty good but the last 30 minutes were almost unwatchable.
I watched this movie at a test screening in a Danish cinema, not knowing what it was about or what to expect. And the film was honestly good. I liked the story, the dynamic and the cinematography. But I didn't enjoy the film.
The last 30 minutes of this film were uncomfortable, almost unbearable, to watch. To avoid spoiling anything, I won't go into details, but it was unpleasant.
This is a film designed to be unwatchable and I must say Christian Tafdrup was pretty good at that.
Hannibal & Jerry (1997)
Great family movie
Hannibal & Jerry is a great film for the whole family with classic Wikke & Rasmussen humor and movie. If you haven't watched it, do it. You won't be disappointed. Most jokes are spot on, the character dynamics work extremely well and the music is just fantastic.
Riget (1994)
The best Danish show ever.
Riget is probably the best Danish show ever. Maybe even the best show in the world. Lars Von Trier has truly created an almost impeccable series containing both mystery and horror as well as amazing humor.
It has a number of subplots, of which all are near perfect, it has nuanced characters with both likeable and unlikeable traits and all this combined with Trier's rebellious style of filmmaking makes amazing.
