I have to write this: if you are expecting a truthful rendition of the ballet, then do NOT go see this. It is so much more....I am a dancer, and i was really worried it would an other ballet version...it actually draws back from the Hoffmann tale, which is quite dark. We still get a dose of dancing with the beautiful Misty Copeland, and we do not need more.

This film tells the story of a young psychiatrist who embarks on a voyage on the sea, as he is reliving his patients' suicides.

Yes it is a bothersome movie, which is what art is supposed to be. It makes you think, and most of all, the way it is build forces you to build up your own story and reflection about the multiple themes.

Of course, it is mostly centered around the acceptance of death, and how once accepted, it is more scary for the people who stay than for the one who goes.

The first episode in the Mongolian desert, to me does not relate much to the rest of the movie. But then, step by step, image by image, we are led to connect the dots and for whoever was brave enough to stay till the end, we have a story.

I must add though, that the walk toward the sunset at the end is a bit Hollywood to me. Just a personal preference :-)

i didn't expect much when i picked up this movie at the store, usually i watch a movie in 2 or 3 times .... this one kept me going on and on till the end....surprisingly i didn't really know how it would end, even though i understand some other people might say it is quite predictable, but the way it is all brought in and the pace of it is just incredible and perfect....

it is not a gay movie, it is a movie about love in all forms .... obviously the fact that the main character is blind ads to the story, but not really .... it was way too short .... could think of a second or third one
