Little Dorrit (2008)
Excellent Dickens
Great production values, you can smell and taste the rancid decay of 19th century London. A wonderful cast of splendid actors .... Armstrong giving a richly textured portrayal, Parfitt energerizing the story with an aural of measured evil, Paterson, Courtenay and Foy are all delightful to watch. A top notch, well paced and acted film.
The young actor Russell Today is one to watch. He emanates an inner combustible power that you sense can carry him to acting greatness. In short, he's got "IT". I look forward to the film that gives him the opportunity to show the full range of his acting chops.
Blue Jasmine (2013)
Not A Film For Anyone Who's Depressed
This is a depressing, bleak, dark and harrowing film. If you're not yet on medication, this film could make rush to the nearest physician for an anti-depressive. However, the acting in this film is extraordinarily excellent. It's mining of "A Street Car Named Desire" is done with a sharp surgical blade and will draw blood. Cate Blanchett's creation of her character was riveting, a quintessential tour De force. Alec Baldwin created an excellent portrayal of a sociopathic egoist who sees no possibility of committing any errors or crimes. The rest of the cast was totally on target. A great, disturbing, dark and formidable film. But..Caution... Do not watch it if you are alone and in a down mood.
