I am going to presume this is based on true facts. Detective Chief Superintendent Wilf Brooks certainly did exist. I just cannot find much in the actual facts about this case.
Which is puzzling. If there is nothing out of the ordinary about this murder. Why did ITV feel the need to dramatise it for entertainment purposes.

I think the writer and director were struggling here to add some spice to the story.
