Hey, my name is Michael, I was born on July 10, 1984 and I have been a big movie fan all my life!
WHAT MAKES A MOVIE GREAT?: Every scene needs to be looked at in two different ways. One way is what the scene is about and the other way is how the scene is filmed. I think a great movie is when the story keeps moving along and the film making doesn't look aged.
WHAT MAKES A MOVIE MY FAVORITE: When I feel it's perfect on all levels of filmmaking.
REASONS WHY IT MATTERS WHAT YOU SEE:
1. Nobody knew what a movie was when they first saw a movie and they enjoyed it because it was filled with images they've never seen before. Then over the years, they lost the memories and didn't gain much knowledge since they started judging movies over what year it came out or what the genre is and all of the above have good movies and bad movies. So keep the memories from when you first saw a movie and gain the knowledge at the same time. That way it's a win-win situation.
2. You will never get your time back no matter what movie you see.
3. There's thousands of movies made and you won't see every one.
4. The winning team, in terms of movies, are not the majority. It's the one that paid the most attention.
I watch movies from nearly every genre: Action, Adventure, Animation, Biography, Comedy, Crime, Documentary, Drama, Family, Fantasy, Film-Noir, Foreign Films, Gangster, Horror, Martial Arts, Musical, Natural Disaster, Romance, Samurai, Science Fiction, Silent Movies, Sports, Spy Movies, Superhero movies, Suspense, War, Western
I ENJOYED EVERY MOVIE FROM THE FOLLOWING SERIES':
All three BATMAN/DARK KNIGHT's
All three GODFATHER's
All four LETHAL WEAPON's
All three LORD OF THE RINGS
All six MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE's
All five RAMBO's
All three THREE COLORS TRILOGY
All four TOY STORY's

Joe Versus the Volcano (1990)
The movie is silly, weird and sometimes dumb.
Clever, imaginitive, but mostly stupid fiction tale. Talks about a lowlife man by the name of Joe Banks (Tom Hanks), who appears to have a lousy life. After all those years, he agrees to go on a vacation since he only has three full months of life to live. That's because he, oddly, intends to purposely jump into the volcano for good. The movie contains a few chuckles and some smiles along the way, though. It is mostly silly, strange and weird to see. The funniest part of the movie: Seeing actress Meg Ryan playing three totally different characters. Some scenes are amusing, though, as mentioned.
The Hunt for Red October (1990)
Thrilling, on task movie.
CIA agent Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) spies on a boat named Red October. He does this so he could investigate it and tries to get enough information as possible. He does all this spying because he doesn't know if the Red October will fight against the United States (nor does the captain of the ship played by Sean Connery). Connery's good in the role as a nuclear submarine captain. The movie is a little boring, not fully. It is also just a little bit overlong. Still, that's not a biggy. The Hunt For Red October did win an Academy Award for Best Sound Effects Editing. Based on the #1 bestselling book written by Tom Clancy.
Clear and Present Danger (1994)
Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan book hits the big screen.
Just like his other novels Hunt For Red October, which had Alec Baldwin instead of Harrison Ford and two years later, Patriot Games, which did have Harrison Ford. Now, this interesting title, Clear and Present Danger has an interesting story to it. It's an action movie that is about the President of the United States, who has now heard that there is drugs in Colombia. Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford) is assigned by the judge not to have any troops involved, although, the President didn't know and Jack has to save the problems going on. I thought that this is a very thrilling film to watch, but not every scene has great parts to it.
The Client (1994)
Better than the other Grisham movie, The Pelican Brief.
The third John Grisham book that hits the big screen might be interesting for Tommy Lee Jones fans or Susan Surandon fans. It's about a kid named Mark (Brad Renfro) who just witnessed a man trying to kill himself in his car. Meanwhile, Mark meets a woman (Susan Surandon) who is a lawyer. She tries to help Mark tell the truth that he really was in the car. Later on in the film, an attorney (Tommy Lee Jones) tries to investigate the case, the scene of the crime and the murderers evidence to tell if the boy is lying or not. This movie shows more of Brad Renfro and Susan Sarandon than Tommy Lee Jones.
Apollo 13 (1995)
One big recommendation!
An Apollo 13 space shuttle is destined to orbit the moon. Though, there appears to be a burn in the shuttle. All four astronauts (Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, Kevin Bacon and Gary Sinise) try to wonder what was going on and save their shuttle. Their space shuttle then leaves space because of what was happening. Swell movie, having director Ron Howard (The Paper, Parenthood) make lots of unique ideas here and there with superb creations and thoughts for a movie that takes place in the 1970s. Based on a true story. It was also based on a book called Lost Moon by Jim Lovell. Originally titled: Lost Moon.
Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff (1949)
Somewhat funny Abbott and Costello comedy.
With very, very few slow spots containing, Lou plays fired bellboy, Freddie Phillips. Apparently, he has been framed. Casey (Bud Abbott) is a hotel detective trying to claim that his friend Freddy is innocent by not accusing him of the murders of the dead people surrounding the hotel. Meanwhile, an Indian Swami-like character (Boris Karloff) tries to have Freddie commit suicide. He plans for Freddie dozens of certain obstacles, such as: Jumping out of the window, stabbing yourself with a knife, trying to strangle yourself with a rope, etc. Though, Lou is too stupid to do any of those obstacles.
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)
Very funny movie.
Like the 3 Stooges and Laurel and Hardy, this is another one of those paired up buddies. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein tells the story of Abbott and Costello who are movers. They move a man into a haunted type house where Costello and soon Abbott meet the monster. This Abbott and Costello movie also has other monsters: Dracula (Lugosi), the Frankenstein monster, the man that moved into the house turns into the Wolfman (Lon Chaney, Jr.) and a very short showing at the end of the movie for the Invisible Man (Vincent Price). Also, Dracula decides to replace Costello's brain in the monster's.
The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988)
A funny spoof.
The Zucker Brothers and Jim Abrahams, the people who have created the funny Airplane comedy, now creates The Naked Gun. Lieutenant Frank Drebin from Police Squad always bumbles around kind of like Inspector Clouseau. He has a case about Queen Elizabeth at the baseball game, who is going to get killed unknowingly. Frank is also worried about what happened to his best friend Nordberg (O. J. Simpson), a man that always has an accident everyday. Another thing is that Frank met a girl named Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley), who doesn't realize that she is working with a bad guy. This is extremely funny.
Rain Man (1988)
Great dramatic movie
Dustin Hoffman plays a man that has problems and the only person who could help him is his brother (Tom Cruise). Together, they're trying to have a relationship between one another. Dustin Hoffman is fantastic as Rain Man, the man who has problems. What I really liked about this movie is that it's a movie about true friendship and trust. The movie also has some comic scenes you can laugh at. It's also interesting Tom Cruise would team up with actor Dustin Hoffman. The movie also won awards for: Best Picture, Best Director: Barry Levinson and Best Screenplay, too. This film may not be for kids, but it's still a movie a lot of people should see.
Surf Ninjas (1993)
Nonstop crummy every minute you watch it.
Three brothers somehow hear that they're God's of some sort. Meanwhile, they battle a captain and his gang of misfits. The bad guy is surprisingly played by Leslie Nielsen, which I think to myself, why would a big star be in this film. Anyway, the cool brothers try to kill Neilsen and his gang as well. Good actors in disappointing roles such as Saturday Night Live's Rob Schneider. He is pretty funny on Saturday Night Live, now I wonder how he could act as one of the dumb brothers. Schneider was also in better movies that I've seen. Also, guess how disappointed a lot of people will feel when they see Leslie Nielsen.
The Shadow (1994)
Based on the 40s radio show of the Shadow.
Alec Baldwin meets a master that teaches him that he shouldn't be a bad guy. To make up from that, he and the master challenge a duel and as they do, later on in the movie, he becomes The Shadow. After all those years, he returns to New York City to continue the duel against his master. What I like about the film is that it has great cinematography. I really think the special effects are also great as well as what the movie's about. If you're ready for action, no more Batman or Superman, come and remember this sort of blockbuster film of the radio show and remember: The Shadow knows Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Lost in Yonkers (1993)
This is a good dramatic comedy that is based on a play.
When two kids have to live with their aunt, uncle and grandma for a while, they get used to it the best way they can. Richard Dreyfuss, who plays their uncle is pretty good when his character acts like some big shot in the film. Other than that, he wants everything to be perfect and to teach the boys stuff that he shouldn't teach. Mercedes Ruel plays the boys aunt who teaches what life these days are all about. The boys try to depend on their aunt more than on their uncle. She also couldn't handle her mom and is scared of her because she acts kind of mean. Even if you haven't seen the play, see this.
Pocahontas (1995)
Weak Disney cartoon.
Somehow, this 33rd animated motion picture is one of the weakest Disney cartoons. Though, good animation, good acting and the best (and surprisingly, only good) song titled: "Colors of the Wind", which won a Golden Globe and Academy Award is what saves the movie. It appears that Pocahontas falls in love with explorer/adventurer John Smith (Mel Gibson, who helps this movie a lot). Then, Smith tries to save Pocahontas' Indian tribe after he and his team can't find anymore gold in the ground. Pocahontas barely stretches out to 80 minutes; this cute animals business is a mess; the movie can't confess that it's based on a true story.
Dave (1993)
Good for some kids and adults.
Kevin Kline stars in a funny comedy directed by Ivan Reitman. Kevin Kline plays both the real Bill and the fake Bill (whose real name is Dave). When the actual President of the United States named Bill died after he came back from his trip one night, his two agents try to find a look a like until they finally got their match. It's a lot harder as it seems for Kevin Kline, who now plays the fake Bill to run the White House. All except for the two agents don't know that Dave is a phony. Another funny thing is that the fake Bill's actions is much better than the real Bill's actions and characteristics.
Junior (1994)
Director Ivan Reitman directs another one of his funny films.
This pretty funny movie is about two scientists. One scientist (Danny DeVito) convinces the other scientist (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to be pregnant once and as DeVito snoops around to find the perfect formula, he finds an egg named Junior. As he tests it out on Arnold, Arnold realizes that DeVito stole Emma Thompson's egg. What I liked about this film is that the script organized the laughs so it won't go out of hand. Another thing I like is that Arnold Schwarzenegger has pretty funny lines with Danny DeVito. I also realized that if you liked Twins and Kindergarten Cop, you might like this film the same way.
Dad (1989)
It doesn't matter how old you are, you can still have a good time seeing this film.
Jack Lemmon's performance is just fantastic when he stars in a film that should have got him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. This is a pretty interesting film for the whole family to see. It's about Lemmon's wife (Olympia Dukakis) who has to help her husband do stuff since he can't by himself. Meanwhile, Dukakis has a bad sickness in the frozen food section at the supermarket. Since she's at the hospital, Lemmon gets his son (Ted Danson) to take care of him. After Danson does, suddenly, Lemmon has a whole new life ahead of him and acts like a little kid again. This dramatic movie is good to watch even by yourself.
Renaissance Man (1994)
Danny DeVito is in good form throughout the film.
A man named Bill Rego (Danny DeVito) is ordered to be in the army for a while. There, he teaches one main class about the life of Shakespeare. The men that learn about Shakespeare in DeVito's class appear to have faith in what they have now learned. After that, Bill Rego appears to enjoy being a teacher in the army after all. Surprisingly, director Penny Marshall (the director of Big and A League of Their Own) directed this, which isn't really her style. There are a few flawed moments. The good thing about that is that the flawed scenes are equal to the good material in the movie. There are lots of good scenes shown in the movie.
Star Trek: Generations (1994)
The seventh Star Trek movie has an interesting reaction to it by Star Trek fans.
The Next Generation crew discover a villain (Malcolm McDowell) who develops a red ribbon (it's called a Nexus), which if you enter it, you can go back in the past and start remembering the times you had before. One thing I didn't like is that the opening has the original crew meet a different crew and doesn't show us how or why. I did see Generations in the theater because I liked the idea of the two groups working together, but it was mostly too blah. I liked Data's comedy, but there wasn't much action or interaction with the groups together, aside from Shatner and Stewart. I think the visuals were cool and it had some laughs, but the rest was nothing special. William Shatner is only at the beginning and end of the film.
An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991)
A wan successor to its original predecessor.
Even though the animation is good, new characters are fun to watch and Don Bluth not directing doesn't mean that it's good. The Fatcat character (Dom Deluise) acts like he's going to be dinner with the hawks; like they want to cook him. It ain't creative. Nope, it's sure not. The movie is handed down to producer Steven Spielberg. The only time he does well producing animation is when he makes shows on channel 5. Now, your mouse Fivel and his family head to the West, where Fivel acts imaginative. Fivel meets the Sheriff Wylie Burp and then sees Wylie train the Fatcat. An American Tail wasn't that great, but better to see than An American Tail: Fivel Goes West.
That Thing You Do! (1996)
It's hard to resist.
I'm not even a music person and it's just terrific. It's my choice for the best movie of 1996. Shockingly, it opened and closed. Not many people cared to see it. Of course, the best great movies are the most natural ones. It felt like a real biographical story, without being predictable or ordinary. Why wasn't it doing well? Tom Hanks was the biggest name with Apollo 13 and Toy Story in 1995 and Forrest Gump in 1994. His name alone should be big enough. It just baffles me. I give the theatrical cut 9/10 and the director's either a 6 or 7. I almost never enjoy director's cuts. They add scenes that aren't necessary and then the scenes that were necessary are boring because it took longer to get to them. The bass player had nothing to do. I don't know why he was in the movie. It just should've been a trio band. I'm surprised most of the actors went nowhere movie wise after the picture except Charlize Theron and Liv Tyler.
Casper (1995)
The special effects are pretty unique.
I saw some of the Casper cartoons, they weren't bad. They were fair. Now, after seeing Casper on the big screen, I became amazed by it. I think it was the special effects. With its beginning not working out at first, Casper has two people (Eric Idle and Cathy Moriarty) try to contact a "ghost therapist" (Bill Pullman) to try and rid the ghosts and locate treasure in the mansion. The "ghost therapist" brings his daughter named Kat (Christina Ricci) along. Inside the house, they meet Casper and at first get freaked out by Casper's three Uncles. The main story is Casper wishing that he can come back to life. Not to be a ghost.
Babe (1995)
Babe is a surprisingly entertaining comedy.
The computerized animals is amusing. The goodness of Babe is mainly its characters. The movie is about a young pig who has been sold to a man who has all sorts of animals crawling around his farm. His rats can sing, the duck thinks it's a rooster, etc. Oh, and the actors don't even know they could talk. It's just themselves. When the young, little pig gets used to the farm, he then strangely thinks he could become a "sheep pig." Though, he somehow does very well at it. He makes the chickens, half red and half white, line up in a separate line. Babe is mainly a movie that young ones would want to see.
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)
Errol Flynn shines playing the legendary Robin Hood.
With very energetic scenes based on the famous novel, Robin Hood (Errol Flynn) befriends his new sidekick Little John. They are trying to save Sherwood Forest when poor people have been severely ripped off by Robin Hood's enemies, Prince John and the Sherrif of Nottingham. Friar Tuck is the only poor character played by a star in this movie. The Sheriff always has to steal the littlest piece of money that anyone could earn. With sword fights, Robin looking out for his love, Maid Marriam, bows and arrows and the unforgettable scene where Robin (always in disguise) sneaks out for an archery contest.
Defending Your Life (1991)
I found it uneven.
Albert Brooks makes a movie about life and death. Albert Brooks' character just had his birthday party. On the way back home, he accidentally gets killed in his car and ends up in heaven. Rip Torn helps him since he died at a bad time. Brooks tries to defend his life the best way he can. Some people might think this film is sort of funny since it is a feel good type comedy. Others may think it's boring and others, like me, may think some of it was fun, other parts were boring. This type of movie isn't great to talk about. Those who are a big fan of Albert Brooks, here's another film I'll recommend called Lost in America.
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949)

He could or couldn't be doomed after the Headless Horseman arrives on his path. Ichabod challenges the Headless Horseman, but you'll never know what would happen to Ichabod.
