The Archies (2023)
Underwhelming and Disappointing
I have to say that "Archies" falls short in capturing the essence of the Anglo-Indian angle and lacks the authentic Indian feel, appearing more like a Western production. Even the central cafe in the movie resembles an American diner, which is quite disappointing. However, the movie shines in terms of its costume design, cinematography, and its portrayal of the 60s era culture. The background score adds a great touch to the overall experience.
On the downside, the lead actors' performances are subpar, while the supporting cast delivers much better acting. Suhana Khan's portrayal of the character Veronica comes across as cringy and overly conscious of the camera. Furthermore, the Hindi-speaking capability of the characters is poor, which detracts from the authenticity of the film.
Another questionable decision is the alteration of Dilton Doiley's character from straight to gay, deviating from the original comic and lacking a logical explanation.
Overall, "Archies" has its positive aspects such as impressive visuals and nostalgic cultural elements, but it falls short in terms of acting, character portrayal, and maintaining the original essence of the story.
Animal (2023)
A Son's Unconditional Love
The Animal Movie is an action-packed film that showcases the extreme levels of a son's love for his father. The cinematography in this movie is excellent, capturing the thrilling action sequences with precision. The dialogues are well-written and add depth to the characters' emotions. However, some of Ranbir Kapoor's dialogues can be considered sexist and do not reflect real-life scenarios. These dialogues could have been avoided to create a more inclusive and respectful narrative.
The acting in this film is top-notch, with standout performances from Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. Bobby Deol's comeback to the screen is remarkable, and he delivers a great performance. The chemistry between the actors is evident, adding to the overall appeal of the movie.
The action sequences are superbly choreographed, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. The music in the film, especially the songs "Saare Dunya Jala Dengy" and "Papa Meri Jaan," contributes to the overall impact of the movie.
However, one drawback of the Animal Movie is its lengthy runtime of around 3 hours and 25 minutes, which can feel dragged at times. Some songs could have been omitted to maintain a better pace. Additionally, Rashmika's acting is poor and lacks emotion, and her dialogues come off as cringy.
Despite these minor flaws, the Animal Movie is a captivating film that explores the depth of a father-son relationship. It reminds us that not every child is typical and highlights the consequences of neglect. Overall, the Animal Movie is a must-watch for its outstanding cinematography, excellent dialogues, and great acting performances.
The Railway Men: The Untold Story of Bhopal 1984 (2023)
Surviving the Unthinkable: The Railway Men Unravels the Tragic Bhopal Incident
The Railway Men is a captivating series that takes viewers on a gripping journey through the tragic Bhopal gas leak incident of 1984 and its aftermath. The cinematography of the series is excellent, capturing the essence of the 80s era with its meticulous attention to detail. It effectively portrays the devastating impact of the gas leak on the community and the subsequent events that unfolded. The color grading adds to the authenticity, creating a visually immersive experience.
The acting performances in the series are excellent, with every actor delivering a great performance. Kay Kay Menon shines in his role as the stationmaster, bringing depth and authenticity to the character. R. Madhavan's portrayal of the GM railways is also commendable, showcasing a nuanced performance. Additionally, Babil Khan's portrayal of the new railway employee showcases raw talent and delivers a captivating performance, reminiscent of his late father Irrfan Khan's legendary acting prowess.
One of the strengths of The Railway Men is its focus on the relief operation and the workings of the government machinery. The series provides a balanced view, showcasing both the sacrifices and timely decisions that resulted in saving thousands of lives, as well as the consequences of corrupt practices. The inclusion of the background stories of each individual adds depth to the characters, allowing viewers to empathize with their struggles.
While the series is compelling, I believe that including a fifth episode focusing on the aftermath of the incident would have provided a stronger climax. This would have allowed for a more comprehensive exploration of the consequences and the long-term impact on the characters and the community.
Overall, The Railway Men is a wonderful series that combines excellent cinematography, great acting performances, and a thought-provoking storyline. It sheds light on the complexities of government operations and the importance of timely decisions. I highly recommend this series to anyone seeking a gripping and impactful viewing experience.

A Gripping Journey into Snow's Transformation
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes takes the gripping aspects of the Hunger Games to a whole new level. This prequel delves deep into the rise of Coriolanus Snow and the origins of his tyrannical persona. Tom Blyth delivers a truly star-making performance, flawlessly portraying Snow's transformation from a privileged youth to a manipulative leader.
The script, with its subtle supervillain origin story, brilliantly showcases Snow's increasing control through calculated decisions. The chemistry between Blyth and Rachel Zegler, who plays tribute Lucy Gray Baird, adds an incredible amount of tension and depth to the narrative.
The film's third chapter is a standout, taking us to a lush forest setting and building exquisite tension between Snow and Lucy Gray. The cinematography beautifully captures both romance and danger, keeping us on the edge of our seats.

The Creator (2023)
Humanity in the Age of AI
Creator is a remarkable film that captivates viewers with its great story and unique concept. The movie takes us on a journey into the future of humanity in the AI age, offering a thought-provoking glimpse into the possibilities that await us. The impressive CGI brings the world of the film to life, immersing the audience in a visually stunning experience.
One of the standout elements of the movie is the phenomenal acting by Madeleine. Her performance is truly captivating, drawing the audience in and holding their attention throughout the film. She brings depth and authenticity to her character, making her presence on screen truly memorable.
However, one area where Creator falls short is the limited screen time given to the supporting staff. While the main storyline and characters are compelling, the emotional depth of the movie could have been further enhanced by exploring the supporting characters and their relationships with the main protagonists.
In particular, there are not enough scenes between characters Joshua and Maya, which leaves their connection feeling somewhat underdeveloped. Additionally, the emotional bond between Alphie and Joshua could have been portrayed with more strength and depth, allowing for a greater impact on the audience.
Despite these minor flaws, Creator remains a great film that sparks reflection on the potential future of humanity. It invites viewers to contemplate the ethical implications of advancements in artificial intelligence and the impact they may have on our lives. With its thought-provoking narrative and impressive visual effects, Creator is a must-watch for anyone interested in exploring the intersection of technology and humanity.
