Next Goal Wins (2023)
I enjoyed it
I know nothing of football. Not my game I guess. But this movie is not about football. It is about finding happiness.
I went to see this movie because it said it is a comedy. I did watch the trailer and I thought it might be good. It was good. I wanted to laugh and boy did I laugh. It was an entertaining piece, feel-good and I really wanted to be there in American Samoa dancing and chanting...
The only thing I disliked about this movie is the Taika cameo. It gets too much. This "let me tell you how this story started..." was the same in the last Thor movie. Maybe they needed it to start in a silly and funny way, but to me it was off-putting. Hopefully, everything after it was nice and enjoyable.
Igra na doverie (2023)
Great idea, bad editing and dialogue
It seems the director Martin Makariev likes to work with similar actors, which in this movie shows a great variety in their performances. The scenes with violence were made perfectly real bringing gasps and utter aghast from the public. However the dialogue falls short on many occasions making the entire scene flat. Great execution from the child actress portaying young Elena, Yana Marinova continues with the roles of freespirited and nonconformist woman, but this time adds depth different or maybe not explored in her previous movies. Luiza Grigorova plays the role of Elena effortlessly (with just the notion of living with someone that abuses you and still trying to find a common gorund with them is both applauding and appaling).
The story is great, I liked the way Makariev portayed two different Sofias (the Communist and Current) and how even though times have changed people have not. Men will always be taking higher positions and women will always be treated with disrespect and having no place around them.
I HATE that all the people smoke. From the first scene onwards there is this constant smoking. This is a theme that is present in all.
Finally, the dialogue and editing especially in the final scene are a mess. Adding new footage to something that should anchor the viewer from all that has happened to what is about to happen... Felt like a hot mess.
Still I enjoyed it, but no more than 6 stars.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Meh
I have not enjoyed the movie at all, in honesty I watched it in two parts because it didn't make sense.
Q1 - how did Spiderman let the villains out of the cells?
Q2 - if Dr Strange is in control of the Mirror World why did it take him a lot of time to go out of it?
Q3 - if something is happening to the universe why is noone trying to help
Q4 - do you find it believable that all anyone needs to transform a reptile or a sandman back to a man can be found in a school lab?
Q5 - why were the other two Spidermen added, Dr Strange said that the spell pulled people desiring Spiderman, so why would any Spiredman desire himself?
Q6 - Mysterio said who is Spiderman, not where he lives, how did the tv found out so fast?
Q7 - why are there so many positive reviews, the movie was drenched in CGI, the sequences with no CGI were not believable to be real and all looked like a set!
