Firefly: Bushwhacked (2002)
Book: Don't be a fool, son. Do as the man says.
In Bushwhacked, Serenity is pulled in by an Alliance cruiser while investigating a spaceship that was attacked by Reavers. Simon and River must hide to prevent capture, while something is wrong with the lone survivor of the attacked spaceship.
This episode isn't to the level of those prior, but it's still very good. I have some issues with it, like Mal not dealing with the survivor the moment it was apparent that he'd be a danger. Like letting Book have a say in the matter, he's neither here nor there, though does have his best line in the show here. Wouldn't Wash see or detect the Alliance ship as well. Also dislike that Mal has to keep sucking up to the Commander not be taken away, saves the guy and is given his ship and freedom back just like that. Then they seem pretty blase about it, after getting through all that unscathed.
Firefly: The Train Job (2002)
Jayne: Time for some thrilling heroics.
In The Train Job, Mal has second thoughts after discovering that two boxes of Alliance goods his crew has been hired to steal are full of badly needed medical supplies headed for the mining town of Paradiso.
A quality episode, straight into it, no unnecessary flashbacks. Being outlaws, it has to be expected you'll be dealing with some truly heinous folk along the way, not really a viable business venture when you have a conscience. There are many fun exchanges between the characters here. Could go either way on the delivering of the stolen goods to the rendezvous point without Mal and Zoe there. I suppose they weren't at the initial meet and greet though.
Saturday Afternoon AFL: Round 11 - Richmond vs Essendon (2024)
Rich vs Ess, at the MCG.
Stringer's 200th, Ridley back in after a long absence, but some of Essendon's other selections questionable. Stringer kicks the opener, McIntosh replies from outside 50. Stringer another from the boundary and then a third, not looking anywhere but the sticks, all tied at the quarter break. Dusty on song with another quality goal. Lefau back to back goals, the Bombers up 6 at the half. Richmond stays in touch all the way, Essendon's defense resolute though and Langford excellent forward. The Bombers home by 12 points. Richmond dominated the hit-outs and were surprisingly +10 in the clearances, Essendon with more of the footy and applied 12 more tackles. The Bombers with 13 more inside 50's, for 1 more scoring shot. Ridley best afield in his return, with 31 disposals, 27 effective, 3 contested marks, 14 intercepts, 759 metres gained and a goal. Langford 16 disposals, 5 tackles, an assist and 3 goals. Stringer an assist and 4 straight goals. Redman, Laverde, Merrett and Durham also among the best. For Richmond, Dusty with 23 disposals, 5 inside 50's and 3 goals.

Saturday Afternoon AFL: Round 11 - Carlton vs Gold Coast (2024)
Carl vs Gcs, at Marvel Stadium.
The Blues kick the opener purely on effort. Very sloppy disposal early in the game, Carlton improves a bit in that regard. King gets the Suns on the board late in the term, the Blues up 9 at quarter-time. Gold Coast continue to struggle to get their hands on the footy, Andrew thwarting everything though against Curnow. A low-scoring affair, Carlton leads by 7 at the half. Curnow with a big contested grab in the 3rd and converts. Gold Coast marking everything inside 50, but fail to convert. Then Kennedy goals from the boundary for the Blues, up 17 at 3-quarter time and home comfortably. The Suns handily won the hit-outs, Carlton +12 in the clearances, with substantially more of the footy. The inside 50's even, the Blues with 8 more scoring shots. Cripps best afield, with 31 disposals, 13 clearances, 6 tackles and a goal. McGovern 20 disposals, 3 contested marks, 6 intercepts and 472 metres gained, in reduced game-time. Williams 15 disposals, an assist and 4 straight goals. Weitering 18 disposals, 17 effective and 11 intercepts. For Gold Coast, Andrew 17 disposals, 16 effective and 11 intercepts.
3. (Car) P. Cripps, 2. (Gcs) M. Andrew, 1. (Car) M. McGovern.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 17 - Playoffs - Final - Luke Humphries vs Luke Littler (2024)
2024 Premier League - W17 - Playoffs - Final - Humphries vs Littler.
The two best again and favourites coming in at it once again. Humphries misses a break opportunity in the opening leg, he misses again and it's Littler who breaks. Humphries breaks back with an 11-darter. A fortunate hold in the 4th-leg for Humphries. Humphries with a 116 checkout break and it's all square. Littler with a 9-darter! He then follows with a break. Humphries with a 134 checkout. Littler clutch, takes the match 11-7 and crowned Premier League Champion. Littler averaging a quality 106 and 48% on the doubles, Humphries averaging 102 and a quality 54% on doubles. Littler with ten 180's to Humphries with five, Humphries forty-one 100+ throws to Littler's thirty-seven.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 17 - Playoffs - Semi-Final - Luke Humphries vs Michael van Gerwen (2024)
2024 Premier League - W17 - Playoffs - SF - Humphries vs van Gerwen.
Humphries misses an early break opportunity, then it's MVG who gets the first break with a 12-darter. Humphries with a sick bull-bull 132 checkout break, then soon after has another comfortable break. Humphries breaks again, with 6 legs on trot. Similar to the other Semi, with Michael off the pace. Van Gerwen with a 105 checkout and starts to respond with a 12-dart break. Humphries though squashes that, hitting a 125 checkout to break back and throw for the match. He wins it 10-5, the same and will face Littler in the Final. Humphries averaging 102 and a quality 56% on the doubles, van Gerwen averaging 97 and quality 50% on the doubles. Humphries with five 180's to van Gerwen with three, Luke with thirty-seven 100+ throws to MVG's thirty-three.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 17 - Playoffs - Semi-Final - Michael Smith vs Luke Littler (2024)
2024 Premier League - W17 - Playoffs - SF - M.Smith vs Littler.
In London, it's the Playoffs, it's go time. Littler with an early 144 checkout 12-darter, then another 12-dart break. Littler then an 11-darter, on an absurd run. Both have multiple misses in the 8th-leg, destroying the high averages and Littler breaks. Smith fortunate to hold in the 10th-leg. Littler misses again and Smith breaks, Littler right back with a 107 checkout and goes on to win it, 10-5 and advance to the Final in his debut. Luke averaging 100 and 38% on the doubles, Smith averaging 95 and 33% on the doubles. Littler with four 180's to Smith's three, Littler with thirty-two 100+ throws to Smith's thirty.
NBA on ESPN: NBA Playoffs - Eastern Conference Finals G2 - Pacers vs Celtics (2024)
ECFG2 - Pacers @ Celtics, May 23 2024.
Porzingis still out for Boston, the Celtics up 1-0. Back and forth in the opening term, Holiday making all the right plays, but Indiana up 2. The Pacers defense leaves a lot to be desired and Boston goes up double-digits, as Indiana's scoring dries up. Siakam with consecutive baskets to end the half, cutting the deficit to 6. Siakam continues on in the 3rd, on fire. After his run stops though, the Celtics kick the lead back out to 13 going into the 4th and home comfortably, taking a 2-0 series lead. Haliburton off with injury. Both teams shot well, Boston marginally better from the field, 3 and the line. The Celtics took better care of the ball as well and +3 on the boards. Holiday with an efficient 15 points, 3 of 4 from deep, 10 assists and just 1 turnover. Brown an efficient 40 points and 5 boards. White an efficient 23 points, 6 assists, no turnovers. For Indiana, Siakam an efficient 28 points, 13 of 17 from the field and 5 boards.
3. (Bos) J. Holiday, 2. (Bos) J. Brown, 1. (Ind) P. Siakam.
Friday Night Football: Round 11 - Fremantle vs Collingwood (2024)
Frem vs Coll, at Optus Stadium.
Darcy in for the Dockers, Mihocek the Pies, De Goey out. Collingwood with quite a few youngsters out there. Treacy kicks the opener from the boundary, a nice shot, Harrison the reply. Freo start well, but Collingwood up 1 at the quarter break, with a late Pies goal from another blight on the game 50-metre penalty reversal for nothing. No scoring in the 2nd, Jackson a good tackle, Freo kick three in a row. The Pies goalless for the term, the Dockers up 13 at the half. Lipinski sets up Mihocek for two early goals to start the 3rd and Collingwood hits the lead. Once again Fremantle having not capitalized on their earlier dominance. The Dockers continuously bombing it to a pack instead of a lead. Now it's Fremantle goalless for the term, the Pies up 16 a 3-quarter time. Walters always retreating... and Freo rucks have been poor, handballing into tackles. Another game-changing umpire call for nothing and Freo bring it back within 1 late. Would you believe it, another draw. Collingwood won the hit-outs and +11 in the clearances, Freo with more of the footy via handball, with 7 more tackles applied. The Pies had 1 more inside 50, for 3 more scoring shots, Freo better conversion. Nick Daicos best afield, with 35 disposals, 10 clearances, 9 inside 50's, 7 tackles, 582 metres gained and an assist. Lipinski 21 disposals, 7 inside 50's, 3 assists and a goal. Cameron 21 disposals, 35 hit-outs, 7 clearances and 6 intercepts. For Freo, Clark 35 disposals, 10 intercepts and 489 metres gained. Young 22 disposals, 18 effective, 6 clearances, 7 tackles and a goal. Banfield 14 disposals, an assist and 3 straight goals.
3. (Coll) N. Daicos, 2. (Frem) J. Clark, 1. (Coll) P. Lipinski.
The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - Western Conference Finals G1 - Mavericks vs Timberwolves (2024)
WCFG1 - Mavs @ Wolves, May 22 2024.
Last round's MVP for Minnesota, McDaniels with three early 3's. Irving much more aggressive for Dallas, on an 11-0 run, but it's the Wolves up 6 at the quarter break. Lively controlling the paint off the bench for the Mavericks and giving Towns nothing inside, but Anderson gives Minnesota scoring off the bench. Irving keeping Dallas in touch with his pace, down 3 at the half. The Mavs pull away in the 4th, on a 13-0 run. The Wolves bring it back and Towns hits a deep go-ahead 3. Luka though takes over down the stretch on both ends and the Mavericks get the opening game on the road. Dallas shot better from the field, Minnesota better from 3, with the Mavs just 24% from there, but more efficient at the line. The Wolves took batter care of the ball, Dallas +8 on the boards. Doncic with 33 points, 8 assists, 6 boards and 3 steals. Lively 9 points, 4 of 4 from the field, 11 boards, 4 offensive and 2 blocks, in 26 minutes. Irving 30 points and 5 boards. For Minnesota, McDaniels an efficient 24 points, 6 of 9 from range. Edwards 19 points, 8 assists, 11 boards and 2 steals. Towns just 6 of 20 from the field.
3. (Dal) L. Doncic, 2. (Min) J. McDaniels, 1. (Dal) D. Lively.
Friday Night Football: Thursday Night Football: Round 11 - Sir Doug Nicholls Round Week 2 - Western Bulldogs vs Sydney (2024)
Wb vs Syd, at Marvel Stadium.
Embarrassing umpiring in the 1st-term, with every call just wrong and 50-metre penalties given for nothing. A lot of it is just shameful... anyway, the Dogs take a 4-point lead to the half, before Warner takes over the game in the 3rd, including a nice aerial grab. The Dogs lose Naughton and Richards, but are still able to kick back in the 4th. Sydney home though, by 14 points. Ugle-Hagan marked it well, but didn't have enough scoreboard impact. The Swans handily won the hit-outs, the Dogs +5 in the clearances, with more of the footy, Sydney applying 75 tackles. The Dogs had 14 more inside 50's, for 2 more scoring shots, the Swans though with excellent conversion. Warner best afield, with 25 disposals, 6 inside 50's, 3 assists and a career-high 4 straight goals. Gulden 25 disposals, 4 inside 50's, 7 tackles, 9 intercepts, 502 metres gained, a goal and an assist. Blakey 20 disposals, all effective, 6 intercepts and 523 metres gained. Heeney 23 disposals, 8 clearances, 7 tackles and a goal. For the Dogs, Bontempelli 26 disposals, 5 clearances, 7 inside 50's, 6 tackles, 7 intercepts and an assist. Ugle-Hagan 13 disposals, 4 contested marks, an assist and 3 goals.
3. (Syd) C. Warner, 2. (Syd) E. Gulden, 1. (Wb) M. Bontempelli.
Firefly: Serenity (2002)
I don't believe there's a power in the 'verse can stop Kaylee from bein' cheerful.
An exceptionally unique sci-fi/western opening double episode, that already makes you feel at home. Where the world's already built, with backstory given and where our heroes are the outlaws. The episode's not weighed down by the setup though, standing on its own meritoriously. With quality writing and characters, by none other than the great Joss Whedon. The scene-time's divided among the crew, but Captain Mal is central and the glue that holds it all together. The theme song's also very catchy and attune with that of the show. Unfortunately it's placed out of order, which may ruin the experience for some entering on a whim.
NBA on ESPN: NBA Playoffs - Eastern Conference Finals G1 - Pacers vs Celtics (2024)
ECFG1 - Pacers @ Celtics, May 21 2024.
Porzingis still out for the Celtics. Tatum with the immediate steal and Brown the transition hoop, then Horford with the block. Boston steals and scores again, the level just went up bigtime for the Pacers, as the Celtics start on a 12-0 run. Toppin providing plenty of offense off the bench for Indiana, to cut the deficit to just 3 at the quarter break. Boston quickly kicks it back out to double-digits. Most of the Pacers points coming from their bigs and they bring it back. Haliburton makes from the car park and it's all tied at halftime. Brown blocks Nesmith and Tatum not settling, Boston on a 13-0 run. Haliburton hits another buzzer-beater to end the 3rd, cutting the deficit back to 1 again. God I hate everything about Mike Breen... Why's he on here. White with big plays, Indiana pulls ahead though late, making all their shots. The Pacers gift them chances and Brown hits the crazy clutch contested 3, to send it to OT. How much energy does Nesmith have... Haliburton turns it over, Tatum with the and1 and 3. Then Brown the steal on Siakam and Boston pulls out the win, from a game they'd already lost. Indiana shot better from both the field and 3, the Celtics much more production at the line. Boston took better care of the ball, the Pacers +1 on the boards. Holiday with an efficient 28 points, 8 assists, 7 boards, 5 offensive and 3 steals. Tatum 36 points, 12 boards and 3 steals. Brown 26 points, 5 assists, 7 boards and 3 steals. White 15 points, 9 assists, 6 boards and 2 steals. For Indiana, Haliburton 25 points, 10 assists and 3 steals. Turner an efficient 23 points, 3 of 4 from deep, 10 boards and 2 blocks. Siakam 24 points, 7 assists and 12 boards.
3. (Bos) J. Holiday, 2. (Ind) T. Haliburton, 1. (Bos) J. Tatum.
X-Men: The Final Decision (1993)
The Final Decision.
In The Final Decision, Senator Kelly has been abducted by Magneto and given the facts about Magneto's goals of superiority of mutants over humans, the X-men's beliefs of peaceful co-existence between both races and the Sentinel's plans of global domination.
There's been a mistake in the programming, that the X-Men are indeed human and the Sentinel's take over. The sentinels fall all too easy, left and right like flies though, with Magneto and the Professor coming together for the greater good, making the dramatic scene earlier about a suicide mission rather ridiculous. The first season a whole has been watchable, but disappointing the same.
The Two Faces of January (2014)
Lacking.
The Two Faces of January is rather lifeless and lacking of suspense.
For starters there's no setup, we're just informed the protagonist conned people out of a great deal of money. Then Rydal comes along and Chester and wife Colette just knowingly allow him swindle them, as well as knowing he's interested in Colette. Sure Chester's in a predicament, but he continues to rely on Rydal. I mean, I'm sure the point and why he confesses is because he sees himself in Rydal or whatever, but blah. None of the performances were much good I'm afraid and I have no idea why people are mentioning Hitchcock...
The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R2G7 - Timberwolves vs Nuggets (2024)
R2G7 - Wolves @ Nuggets, May 19 2024.
Porter with a nice block on Gobert at the basket early, likewise McDaniels on Gordon. Not sure why Denver's forcing Murray when he has elite defense on him. He starts making late in the term and the Nuggets take a 5-point lead to the quarter break. Denver continues a run through the 2nd, with Murray continuing to roll. Towns keeping the Wolves in touch. Braun a nice transition block, the Nuggets up 15 at halftime. Edwards having a nightmare game, I suppose that's why they force Murray early despite missing, so he has rhythm. Porter off and Minnesota on a run, with consecutive 3's. Jokic missing, Edwards the steal and dunk and then the step-back 3, cutting the deficit to 1 going into the last. Jokic can't make an open 3, the Wolves go ahead. Jokic doesn't stop taking them though and eventually makes. Gobert makes a miracle shot, Jokic another 3. Reid big down the stretch with Towns in foul trouble. Minnesota goes up double-digits and advance to the Conference Finals. Neither team shot well, Denver better from field, the Wolves better from 3 and more production at the line. Both teams took care of the ball, Minnesota just 7 turnovers and the Wolves +3 on the boards. McDaniels like G6, an efficient 23 points, 6 boards, 4 offensive and 2 steals, with no turnovers. Towns 23 points, 12 boards and 2 steals. Edwards played great defense and setup others, but 6 of 24 from the field. For Denver, Murray 35 points. Jokic 34 points, 7 assists and 19 boards, 6 offensive. The rest of the team 8 of 28 from the field, for just 21 points.
3. (Min) J. McDaniels, 2. (Min) K. Towns, 1. (Den) J. Murray.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Final - Luke Humphries vs Michael Smith (2024)
2024 Premier League - W16 - Final - Humphries vs M.Smith
Smith's only night win coming back in week one. Michael with multiple misses and Humphries gets the first break and then hits the Big Fish! Smith then with a 140 checkout and then 96 to break, evening it up and then going ahead. Smith breaks again to throw for the match and wins it 6-3, winning 5 legs on the trot, to claim king of the hill. Also against a player in Humphries who has had his way with Smith in recent times. Smith averaging 100 and 40% on the doubles, Humphries averaging 95 and just 25% on the doubles. Each player with three 180's apiece, Humphries twenty 100+ throws to Smith's sixteen.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Semi-Final - Luke Humphries vs Michael van Gerwen (2024)
2024 Premier League - Week 16 - SF - Humphries vs van Gerwen.
A dead rubber, but a preview of the Playoff matchup. Humphries with a 12-darter in the opening leg and then breaks. Humphries with another 12-dart 142 checkout. He's just bang bang, doesn't miss. No opportunities given on his throw and he goes on to win it, 6-3. Humphries averaging 104 and a quality 75% on the doubles, van Gerwen averaging a not too shabby 101 and a quality 50% on the doubles. Humphries with four 180's to van Gerwen's two, each player with eighteen 100+ throws apiece. The level Humphries is playing in contrast to an under performing MVG over the course of the Premier League, it's hard to see the 7-time winner knocking off Humphries, but you never know.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Semi-Final - Michael Smith vs Luke Littler (2024)
2024 Premier League - Week 16 - Semi-Final - M.Smith vs Littler.
A dead rubber, but a preview of the Playoffs. A barrage of 180's in the opening leg, where Littler breaks. Both with multiple misses, Littler breaks again. Smith breaks back to get on the board, Littler right back. Smith with a 156 checkout break, then a 120 checkout. Smith comfortably breaks again. Both with plenty of misses in the 9th-leg, goes to a deciding leg, Smith with the throw. Michael wins it, 6-5, getting the better of Littler once more, coming back from 1-4 here. Littler with the higher average of 93 despite losing and 33% on doubles, Smith averaging 91 and just 24% on doubles. Littler with six 180's to Smith's two, Michael with twenty-five 100+ throws to Luke's twenty-one.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Michael van Gerwen vs Rob Cross (2024)
2024 Premier League - Week 16 - van Gerwen vs Cross.
Basically another dead rubber here, Cross having played consistent darts throughout, but out of the Premier League race. Van Gerwen misses a break opportunity in the opening leg and it's Cross who ends up getting the first break. Rob then takes out a 104 checkout, van Gerwen breaks back, with a combo finish then another combo finish. Both miss and van Gerwen breaks again and goes on to win it, 6-4. Van Gerwen averaging a strong 106 and and a quality 50% on the doubles, Cross averaging 96 and 36% on the doubles. Van Gerwen with two 180's to Rob's one, Michael with twenty-four 100+ throws to Cross with twenty.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Luke Humphries vs Gerwyn Price (2024)
2024 Premier League - Week 16 - Humphries vs Price.
Basically a dead rubber here. Price breaks in the opening leg, then follows with a 12-darter. Price stops Humphries in his tracks with another 12-darter, Humphries an 11-darter right back. Luke gets a comfortable break to even it up, despite multiple misses. Humphries fortunate to hold in the 9th-leg with Price missing. Luke comfortably breaks again, to win it 6-4, with Price falling away late. Humphries averaging 94 and just 29% on the doubles, with 10 more attempts, Price averaging 91 and 36% on doubles. Gerwyn with three 180's to Humphries with two, each player with twenty-two 100+ throws apiece.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Michael Smith vs Nathan Aspinall (2024)
2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - M.Smith vs Aspinall.
The last deciding game to make the Playoffs, though the prize of facing either Littler or Humphries not the most enticing prospect. Both players hold throw all the way until the 8th-leg, where Smith takes out a big bull-bull 132 checkout to break and thus throw for the match. Smith getting it done, 6-3, Aspinall just missing out on the Playoffs once again. Smith averaging 99 and an exceptional 75% on the doubles, he had a 136 checkout in there as well, Aspinall averaging 92 and 30% on the doubles. Nathan with two 180's to Smith with zero, Michael with twenty-three 100+ throws to Aspinall's eighteen.
Darts: World Championships: 2024 Premier League Darts - Week 16 - Peter Wright vs Luke Littler (2024)
2024 Premier League - Week 16 - Wright vs Littler.
In Sheffield. Littler having dominated the Premier League, while the 2x World Champion has struggled like never before. Peter though with a bull-finish to hold in the opening leg. Wright hits tops-tops to hold again. Littler showing off, needlessly goes tops-tops-tops to get the first break. Wright an 11-dart hold and hanging in there, but in the end Littler takes the match 6-4. Littler averaging 97 and 46% on the doubles, Wright averaging 93 and a quality 80% on doubles, with just the 5 attempts. Littler with three 180's to Wright's two, Peter with twenty-four 100+ throws to Luke's twenty-two.
NBA on ESPN: NBA Playoffs - R2G6 - Nuggets vs Timberwolves (2024)
R2G6 - Nuggets @ Wolves, May 16 2024.
Denver up 3-2, Conley back in for Minnesota. The Nuggets start well, but the Wolves go on a 20-0 run and take a 17-point lead to the quarter break, with Denver putting up just 14. The Nuggets can't make a 3, but getting offensive boards and Jokic starts taking it into multiple bodies and converting tough shots. They continue to miss open shots though and Minnesota up 19 at the half. McDaniels making a significant offensive contribution as well, along with the stellar defense. Stop saying that player "is shaken up" Ruocco, it's a stupid meaningless Mike Breen'ism to absolutely everything. The Wolves up 25 going into the 4th. They quickly blowout the lead even further, sending it to a game 7. Minnesota shot better and with more production at the line, with the Nuggets just 30% from the field. The Wolves took better care of the ball, with just 6 turnovers, Minnesota +19 on the boards. McDaniels with an efficient 21 points, 8 of 10 from the field, with 2 blocks and no turnovers. Edwards 27 points and 3 steals, just 1 turnover. Conley 13 points, 5 assists and no turnovers. Gobert and Towns 27 boards between them. For Denver, Jokic 22 points and 9 boards, 5 offensive. Gordon 12 points, 8 boards and 3 blocks.
3. (Min) J. McDaniels, 2. (Min) A. Edwards, 1. (Den) N. Jokic.
AFL Sunday: Round 10: Sir Doug Nicholls Round Week 1 - Essendon vs North Melbourne (2024)
Ess vs Nth, at Marvel Stadium.
Parish out for Essendon, Simpkin North. Davies-Uniacke kicks the opener for Kangaroos out of the contest, Guelfi the reply. Merrett with the good intercept and goal, the Bombers lead by 12 at quarter-time. Zurhaar with a contested mark in the goal-square to start the 2nd and converts. Essendon's kicks inside 50 are of quality and Guelfi goals on the angle. Zane Duursma goals after the halftime siren, bringing the deficit back to 7. The Bombers kick the lead back out in the 3rd, North winning the ball and doing a good job negating key players, but not getting it on the scoreboard. Wright on song and Jakey goals from 50, Essendon out to a commanding 45-point 3-quarter time lead and home comfortably, by 40. North handily won the hit-outs and were +14 in the clearances, with an equal amount of the footy, Essendon applying 14 more tackles. The Bombers with 23 more inside 50's, for 8 more scoring shots, both teams with good conversion. Wright best afield, with 15 disposals, 2 contested marks, 11 hit-outs, 6 inside 50's, an assist and 4 goals. Caldwell 25 disposals, 9 clearances, 6 inside 50's, 5 tackles and an assist.
