...was the only reason I saw this over-rated, over-bloated, treacly piece of crap. Not even Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, or Liam Neeson could save it, though Lord knows they gave their all. I'm still trying to figure out what people see in Colin Firth or Hugh Grant, or in the whole romantic-comedy genre, in general--I'm not a huge rom-com fan to begin with, but this was simply unbearable, unbelievable, and unfunny... except for Nighy, as Billy Mack. His story should have been the whole movie; with maybe a bit of Rowan Atkinson on the side. Nighy's rock star was a much-needed comic relief in this drippingly sappy bit of fluff, with his foul-mouthed, brutally honest cynicism and 'what do I care' attitude. If I could get a copy of the movie with just his parts, then it'd be worth watching.

I love Freeway! What a four-eyed, club-footed, red-headed stepchild of a movie! James Russo wants to be Mickey Rourke *sooooo* bad--and what issue of Penthouse did Darlanne Fluegel escape from? This is one of those enjoyably bad movies that you might refer to as a guilty pleasure. Richard Belzer is good as the disc jockey who receives phone calls from the psycho killer. And as the psycho killer... well, no one makes a more entertaining psycho than Billy Drago. The most chilling scene in the movie is the one where Darlanne and James find the picture of ol' Billy dressed as a priest. Best watched late at night with a small gathering of smart-alec pals, MST3K-style.

I love this show ! I used to watch it every Friday night--my sister and I started watching it because it starred "that guy from EVIL DEAD", but it wasn't till "Brisco" that I considered myself a Bruce Campbell fan. The show also introduced me to another favorite actor, Billy Drago, who made John Bly the weirdest Old West villain in TV history. The camaraderie between Brisco, Bowler, and Socrates was great, and I loved the anachronisms and bad puns ("You got the sheriff!" "Yeah, but I didn't get the deputy."). Some great guest stars from earlier Old West shows, and John Astin as the recurring Prof. Wickwire. Sci-fi, Old West, slapstick--this show had something for everyone. Find it and check it out!
