Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Great Movie, Don't Be Dissuaded
I gave this movie a 7 out of 10 because I expected more action. Also think the fight with Doomsday was really downplayed because the movie was so long. I think it could have been tens times better. Unfortunately they went a different route.
I liked the movie because it told a compelling story. I sat there and got most of the answers I was looking for, and really wasn't left in the dark. The movie does have some plots that are really sketchy. There is a scene where they accuse Superman of killing people who were obviously shot to death? Really? People in that world must be really stupid to believe Superman uses guns, and shoots people. :/
On another note, they did a great job with Ben Affleck as Batman. I think by far, he is the best Batman I've seen. He is smart, caring, and tough as nails. The new Alfred was a refreshing touch, and I'm happy with the direction they took.
They are really setting the tone for the Justice League in this movie and obviously Darkseid is going to be the next big bad. I hope there is more action in the Justice League, Dawn of Justice just felt lacking in that department.
All in all, a good movie. I hope they keep up the good work. Looking forward to it.
Colony (2016)
Slow start, but really catching up :)
At first I wasn't sold on the show. The first episode was kind of slow, and I hate to say it, but written kind of poorly. I will give it some slack because they had to fit a lot in just 40+ minutes. I figured I would a few more episodes before I gave up and I'm glad I did. The show has really picked up its pace and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season, I just really hope they don't cancel the show, because I would like to see what happens. I absolutely hate starting a series that does not finish or at least give us some hints as to what is going on. I will continue to watch until the last episode of the season and will update my review once I have a more knowledge.
Lady in the Water (2006)
Underrated and a good watch :)
I saw this in the theater when it first came out, after seeing all of M Nights others movies I was sorely disappointed. It wasn't until after talking with a few friends and buying the DVD that I really got an appreciation of what the director was trying to do.
I found myself in a dark room and let all other thoughts leave my mind. That's when I started getting engulfed in the story and really connecting with the characters. I felt all sorts of emotions during the movie and even learned some things about it that I had missing previously.
I know a lot of people hate on this movie, and I was one of them. After seeing it again I was completely taken by the story and had a new feeling for the movie.
After Earth (2013)
Uhhhhh Not so good....But.
I love M. Night, he is a strong director with plenty of good films under his belt. This film though was not one of the best, and that is because N. Night was being shadowed the whole time by Will Smith. Also, there was the fact that the script was lousy. Will Smith was trying to do a role he was not prepared for. I like Will Smith movies but this has to be the worst one yet. If you watch this movie look forward to some great special effects with lousy dialogue. You will get through it.
I also add that this movie could have been great were there actual actors and maybe a bigger story line.
Pacific Rim (2013)
Great Movie!
Wow, this movie just blows me away. Really it does. There are a few plot holes that can be easily looked over, but all in all its a must watch.
From the opening scene it has you at the edge of your seat. I literally sat at the edge lol. The visual effects are just stunning. Blu-Ray this movie with a 240hz TV or higher and it will feel like you are standing right next to action.
Charlie Hunnam did a great job in this movie. I love his character in The Sons of Anarchy and he may seem a little like that character but he pulls it off well.
You will be happy you watched this movie.
Godzilla (2014)
Good but....
I have to say I am sorely disappointed with Godzilla 2014. Not because Godzilla himself was bad, but due to the fact we see the other monsters and actors more than the hero of the film.
Also, Bryan Cranston is not in the movie as much as we were meant to believe. Kinda sad really. I would have liked to see more of Godzilla fighting monsters. Pacific Rim had way more monsters and they were all the screen time. I would have given this movie a 10 if you cut the actors and added more Godzilla.
Please for the love of God, when you make a new one, make sure the movie is about (Godzilla) and not people or other creatures.
