The Tattooist of Auschwitz (2024)
Poor casting and dull
As someone who has ready the book a few times the tv adaptation lacked emotion. It seemed quite dull and I'm not sure on the historical accuracy being portrayed.
Real images of Holocaust victims could have been used and better portrayal of the physical impact of being in the concentration camps could have made it more accurate and emotional.
The casting choice was not great - the horrid blonde wig and accent that seemed to jump between Kiwi, South African, maybe some Australian and at times a little British was off putting. There are plenty of Australian actresses that could have done the role better.
And the English accent of the main character who was supposed to be Slovakian among characters with European accents made the character stand out and seem out of place. Especially when the older version of him had an accent.
Overall I turned it off half way through the series. I didn't find it interesting and found a lot of it off putting. Could have been done a lot better.
