It (1990)
Superb...
It is a superb film. Simply because of the plot and it's ending. The plot is about a group of seven children, all aged 12, who call themselves the Losers Club. The Losers Club are haunted by a thing that they only refer to as It. It takes on the shape of each child's deepest dread, and also disguises Itself as a clown. The Losers Club defeat It when they are children. Then they all grow up and move away from their home town of Derry, New England. Twenty-seven years later, the Losers Club, as grownups now, are called back to Derry to confront It for one last time.....
*The novel of It by Stephen King is even much better than the film.

Bean (1997)
Very funny...
Bean is a very funny film. It will keep you laughing right from the start to the very end. If you don't find this film a good comedy, where is your taste in films?
The Ice Storm (1997)
Ang Lee's finest...
Ang Lee is at his finest here. I haven't seen a film like it before. The performances by Kevin Kline, Joan Allen, Christina Ricci and Elijah Wood are fantastic. The best character in the film is Sigourney Weaver who plays a tiredsome and bored wife, Janey who is cheating on her unsatisfactory husband and is secretly seeing Ben (Kevin Kline) behind her husband's back. The end of the film is an interesting one. Watch it and enjoy it.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993)
Watch it and love it!!!!!!!!
This is brilliant! DS9 is obviously the best of the Trek series it is full of action and some scenes are even funny! The best character in the series is probably Quark who is very funny, the series can be very serious at times too though. What can I say? This is brilliant. All I can really say is watch it and enjoy it.You won't get bored it's full of fun!
The Dresser (1983)
A great laugh and a little weep...
I like this film.It truely deserves a 8/10. The film is about Sir,an old and poorly actor who is going mad whilst his dresser looks after him. The performances apart from Courteney's are brilliant,Albert Finny who plays Sir is the funniest but Courteney's is a HUGE letdown to the picture. But apart from that the film is superb. Sir is a lonely, old, ill and frail man who only has his dresser to care for him,and then one night Sir does one last performance: King Lear. I'll spill the juice and spoil the ending for you all,Sir dies at the end which is very sad and I think people will be deeply moved when they see his death scene.Sir led a happy life though and it is greatly observed in this film.
Roots (1977)
Terrific.
There were tons of episodes for this TV series. "Roots" is about the slave trade and it shows the true horrors of how the white men used to treat black men. The best episode in my view is the one where the black Kunta Kinte is captured and is taken onto a slave ship along with his fellow villagers. The conditions on the slave ship are absolutely horrible! The poor blacks are cramped and squashed up against one-another and are lying on top of each other, and they get very little water. They are whipped and beaten, some of them die of the heat as it is very hot below deck where they are,and some die of dysentery. And some selected woman are forced to have sex with the captain of the ship. But towards the end of the episode,Kunta Kinte and his fellow villagers are brought up on deck and are made to dance. Well, now that they're up on deck it is much more easier for them to escape. The white men and the captain do not think how easy it is for them to escape. And suddenly Kunta Kinte and the other slaves start conflict with the evil white men and the evil and ruthless Mr Slaiter has a knife thrown into him and rightly so,and the blacks defeat their kidnappers but how long will their freedom last...and will they ever see home again? There are many episodes to this series, the first four episodes are the best ones, which are located in slave ships to plantations and there is lots of adventure in them too. The other episode which seems to be one of those best ones is that one where Kunta Kinte becomes great friends with the free black man "Fiddler". Fiddler is a good and kind man who dies in episode four and leaves Kunta Kinte to deal with his problems alone. The series are full of adventure and good drama. If you are good at your history you'll like this series.
The Tragedy of Macbeth (1971)
Fantastic story!
Polanski's film of "Macbeth" is absolutely outstanding. I don't like the play by Shakespeare that much but I must say that I loved this film.It is filled with gore and action. First of all Macbeth is told that he will become almighty "Thane of Cawdor" by the three witches, and they also tell him that he is to become the King of all Scotland. Macbeth is surprised and does not believe the witches at first but then he realises that if the witches say so then it must be true.He and his wife plan to kill King Duncan who is ruler of Scotland so that Macbeth can become the king. Macbeth does not want anything to do with the horrible deed and tells his wife that he will not kill his king whom he loves.Lady Macbeth (the brains behind the scheme)finally persuades Macbeth to kill his king. Macbeth agrees to murder King Duncan although his mind is telling him not to do the evil deed. Then Macbeth's mind starts to play tricks on him and he sees a dagger before him which is his mind telling him that he can murder King Duncan,it is the bad part of Macbeth telling him to do it and get it done over with, whilst his good side is still telling him not to do it. He finally creeps into King Duncan's chamber at night and murders the king whilst sleeping. Lady Macbeth had given the guards lots of alcohol so that they could fall asleep in order for Macbeth to creep into Duncan's chamber unnoticed.Macbeth stabbed King Duncan causing tons of blood to squirt out of his neck. Lady Macbeth puts blood onto the guards' hands to make everyone believe that it was the gaurds who had murdered King Duncan. Then all of a sudden the tables turn, and Macbeth becomes a ruthless killer whilst Lady Macbeth starts to feel guilty. And I'll leave the rest of the film for auidiences to watch. But take my advise, you wouldn't think that it was Shakespeare who wrote this because it's such a good film.
Dance of the Vampires (1967)
10/10.
I saw this film on TV a few years ago. It's such a brilliant film I am going to buy it on video! It's very funny, spooky and there are light touches of gore from here to there.Jack MacGowran's character is the best. MacGowran plays an elderly and wacky professor who researches bats. Polanski plays the professor's assistant Alfred, who falls inlove with a young girl. A very wonderfully made film,I would say that it is one of Polanski's best.
The Prey (1983)
Never, ever camp at "North Point".
The Prey.Where do I start? This film starts off kind of slow and is very boring, and does not get interesting until the end of the film. A group of teenagers camp at a place called "North Point" which is situated in the high mountains of some lovely state. One of the teens, one night tells a story, a true story about a fire which happened at North Point some time ago.A man called Jake had started the fire so that he could kill a guy who had supposedly "raped" his wife.At North Point there were gypsies who were camping there, and the guy who had "raped" Jake's wife was one of the gypsies. So to kill the so called "rapist" gypsy Jake must kill all of them as he does not know which one he is. The fire killed everyone including Jake and his friends.....only one person had escaped the fire. After the teen had finished telling the story about the fire at North Point, one by one the teens are killed off by someone...or something. The film ends with only one surviving teen who is raped by the killer which turns out to be the person who had escaped the fire, he is all mutated and is a "monster". The film as I have mentioned above, is very boring but towards the end things do start to speed up. There are some scenes where all the camera does is concentrate on wildlife, like insects, butterflies and flowers. People may ask me what I would give this film out of 10. My answer.....probably 6.
Waterloo (1970)
A Brilliant piece of work!!!!!
This is the best film I have ever saw. It starts off with the abdication of Napoleon, who leaves for the island of Elba. Not long after his abdication Napoleon leaves Elba for his homeland of France.Determined to beat the British and Prussian forces he is very confident once again. This film has shown Napoleon as a man who never, ever ever gives up,a man who is determined to fight until the end of the earth a man with a ruthless heart. He finally meets with the British leader Wellington (well he was born in Ireland) and their forces come to a great and memorable conflict at "Waterloo". This film is absolutely fantastic, and is the best classic war film there is. Rod Steiger's performance is the best,Napoleon is the hero who is sadly defeated at the end. Christopher Plummer is the mastermind Wellington, the man who defeats Napoleon's forces. This film is a must-see for those who love history and historical films.
King's Quest III: To Heir Is Human (1986)
A good game. That's all that needs to be said.
"King's Quest III" is better than both "King's Quest I" and "King's Quest II", although I did like the previous ones. You play a slave called Gwydion who has been captured by an evil wizard. You must escape his home which is perched high up in the mountains, and explore the land.Once escaped from the wizard's home, you come across the three bears, evil Medusa,a spider and lots more. A good adventure game with tons of fun. The graphics are very poor, but nevertheless it remains a good game. A good game! That's all that needs to be said.
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)
"So what is it then, spits or swallows baby?"
A great comedy film.I was expecting a stupid and rather babyish film just like the first Austin Powers film, but this one was terrific. I sat down and watched this film all the way through without getting bored once! There is not one scene in this film that doesn't have you laughing!Mike Myers' performance is brilliant!-he plays Austin,Dr Evil and Fat b*****d.A new character is introduced in this film an exact look-alike of Dr Evil only one eighth his size! He's funny,he's little and he bites! This superbley performed movie is the best comedy flick in years. We now await the upcoming "Austin Powers 3".
Silent Hill (1999)
A disturbing game
This game is very eerie.I don't think much of games these days but I have to make a clean breast about this one: it's very gory, spooky, eerie, violent and is like The Exorcist been made into a game. This horror game is much better than the Resident Evil trilogy and I would really recommend it to people who love the horror genre.I would not recommend it to those who are afraid of the dark. A brilliant game,I recommend this being played alone and in the darkness.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
A great amatuer movie.
"The Blair Witch Project" is a great movie only because it is shot with a home-video camera which makes it "realistic" in my view.A very great film and so scary I would compare it with "Psycho". This film is one of the greatest horror movies ever made according to film critics, although I would not put the film in amongst the top 10 best horror films. Three young film students set off in the woods for a filming of a documentary about the so called "Blair witch", they are stalked and one by one are killed in the horrible woods. A film which seems to haunt and scare the audience for a long time after the film should be watched by people who love horror. A "must-see" for those who enjoy being scared out of their wits.
The Exorcist (1973)
A great tale of the supernatural
"The Exorcist" is a good film.I wouldn't call it "scary" though compared with the films we have today, but nevertheless it remains a good flick. Not much happens until the end of the film, but the story to the film is a very strange and good one.A girl called Regan is possessed by the devil as a result to playing with a Ouija board, and an exorcist is called in as a last resort to help the possessed girl and rid her of the demon from within.I first rented "The Exorcist" out on VHS and couldn't see what all the fuss was about, but I did fairly enjoy the film towards the climax of it.You probably will not enjoy the film watching it in daylight so for atmosphere I recommend you watch this film at night with your lights turned right down alone in the dark for a much more exciting and enjoyable expierience.A great tale of the supernatural.
Executions (1995)
Disturbing
This documentary should never have been released,it is sick, vile, horrific, shocking and disturbing. The film should have been banned in the UK as it shows real-life images of people being shot by firing squads,it shows a man executed in the electric chair and shows a man have his jaw blown off by a gun.I can't understand why this was released or even made, who would want to watch real-life footage of people dying in such horrific ways? This film is a very disturbing documentary and should never have been released to the public.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
The best Comedy film ever made!
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a film for people with a great sense of humour.Fans of the Comedy genre will not walk away after seeing the film unsatisfied. The film's opening credits will even have you laughing in stiches. The rabbit that is sweet enough to attack humans is a spectacular creation, the old man who can predict the nearby future is a funny add to the picture, the coconuts used for the sound of riding horses is very amusing and the Knights of Ni are the most wild people in the movie, I would recommend it to anyone who is wanting a laugh for ages. The film was shot with a superb camera and for a film of the 1970s it is very spectacular.King Arthur is the king of the Britons who is told by God himself that he and his team must go on a quest for the search of the Holy Grail. This film is the best british comedy.Infact, this film in my opinion is one of the, if not THE best film that I have ever viewed.I would highly recommend it to people who love a great laugh.
The Ghastly Ones (1968)
Advisable...
The Ghastly Ones (1968) is a shocking film.Still banned in the United Kingdom to this day, the film remains a spectacular horror story. I watched the film many years ago when it was shown on TV, and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.A very gory and horrific, violent film it is, but very enjoyable.I would recommend this film to anyone who is looking for a goodnight scare.
