Charrito (1984)
Chespirito's weakest
Of the rather small Chespirito theatrical filmography, this has to be the weakest, it doesn't have the same problem with the Chanfle (bad attempts of seriousness) but it has a completely different problem: it's not that funny, there are some good laughs there and some chuckles there, but overall it just feels like they took the jokes they couldn't put in the previous films and they just connected them with a rather weak story line, again this movie suffers the same problem with el Chanfle and out of nowhere they put us though a whole musical number, apart from that the actors are less vibrant here and the music is simple, i only recommend it for little kids.
Don ratón y don ratero (1983)
Fair
This movie has the same exact problem that Chespirito's first movie El Chanfle, the jokes and humorous situations are slowed down by incompetent attempts of being dramatic and touching the spectators feelings, but at least this movie does it better with that and the "serious" scenes are actually kinda entertaining, not only that but the film is very tone inconsistent, the last 2 movies in Chespirito's filmography were very family friendly, but this one uses darker elements like organized crime, murder, a couple of references to drugs and a surprisingly good amount of black adult jokes, apart from that, is a good movie to watch, the music is just great and the actors do a good job.
El chanfle II (1982)
Better than the first one
This is probably one of the few cases when the sequel is better than the first one in every aspect, the main problem with the first movie is that the jokes and humor are slowled by the constant "touching" fell good moments, but this one rids completely of that and puts the characters in a story completely guided to laughs, same as the first movie, this one also relies heavily on misunderstandings and the final scene with the chase through the hotel complex and the town is just slapstick gold, that has nothing to envy the good old works of Buster Keaton, just by looking at the actors you can tell that they had a better time doing this than the first movie.
El chanfle (1979)
Good enough
The main problem i see with this movie is that in certain moments, it seems as two movies blended in one and they don't actually mix well, the first movie is some old school wacky film with slapstick, malapropisms and misunderstandings being used for jokes, the other movie is your average old school Disney-like family film with "touching moments" some corny lesson and even a musical number (which is odd because, they just start singing and then it never happens during the rest of the movie), overall, is pretty good but only kids will really enjoy the whole movie, the few music is good, the direction is good and the acting is quite good too.
Hook (1991)
Spielberg at its best
Truly one of the greatest movies in both the Spielberg filmography and the Robin Williams' one, both of them give their unique touch to this motion picture, that blended with an amazing production design, the soundtrack composed by the great John Williams and the amazing performances of the supportive cast, the story is simple, Peter Pan has grown up and has kids, but he has forgotten all about neverland and when his kids are taken by Captain Hook, he must rescue them via seeking the help from the lost boys, who help him to become what he used to be, there are a minor plot holes but overall, an unforgettable film for the young ones.
Coraline (2009)
Spooky Stuff
Not even kidding when I say that this movie is more effective than some horror films, everything about it is great, the animation, the backgrounds, the music, the voice acting and other elements blend gracefully creating a rich atmosphere that, mixed with the interesting story line, will 100% make the viewers to maintain their interest in the film during the whole movie, talking about the "Spooky Stuff" it doesn't have violence or anything like that, but it relies heavily on suspense and character design to scare the younger viewers, it's not anything bad but I'm just cautioning parents so that they accompany their child's while watching this.
Short Circuit (1986)
Wall-e's grandpa
I really can't comprehend how this movie it's not talked today, it is a classic, it is a pretty good mix of comedy with science fiction elements and drama with serious moments and lessons, with a great cast that includes Steve Gutenberg, giving a more memorable performance that the one he did in Police Academy ( in my opinion) and the great voice acting of Johnny 5 that blended with special animatronic effects that look excellent even by today standards make him look and act more alive that some actors, apart from some adult jokes and language, that will probably fly over a child's head, it is a great movie to watch with the family.
Explorers (1985)
Disappointing
I think what makes this movie stand out besides a lot of cult films from the time is that the first half of the movie is completely different from the second half, you see, the movie starts as some sort of "Goonies" like film, but here they are not searching a pirate treasure, but a spacial one, there's little to no comedy and the characters are quite serious with their objectives, but in the second half when they arrive at the alien ship it totally disconnects with the rest of the movie, the aliens are cartoony looking creatures that end up being children and their only knowledge of earth was from tv satellite signals they caught, so they communicate via pop culture references, it is a pretty good film for kids but if you expect something great you'll be very dissapointed.
