Pups Alone (2021)
Extremely cute. Much better than expected.
My kids and I absolutely adored this film. So funny, and with genuine heart. It's clear how much fun the entire team and cast had on set and the dogs were just amazing. The cast is outstanding! I was expecting it to just be a little Home Alone knockoff with dogs from the title and obvious similarities in places but honestly this film completely has its own charm. It has a throwback feel to many of my favorite 80s comedies and balances the slapstick humor with charming characters and beautiful emotional moments. I could not be happier or more surprised.
After watching this movie I was surprised by some of the reviews until I did the math and realized they were written about a week before the film even came out so I doubt they even saw the movie before they wrote them.
Highly recommended fun for the entire family.
Loki (2021)
Overrated but watchable.
The show started off promising, although it felt derivative from the beginning. Every joke and gag felt lifted from something else. The direction and writing are average at best. The show, unfortunately, doesn't get any better from there. My kids were bored midway through episode 2 and never watched an episode after that one without taking several breaks or pulling out their phones. The stakes feel non existent despite how massive they attempt to make them.
Overrall it's massively overrated. (Truthfully though, almost all Marvel film ratings are much higher than they deserve to be). I'm a fan of some of their films, don't get me wrong, but it's obvious Marvel gets a pass from audiences and critics than no other property does for some reason.
Sorry for the rant.
