Black Hawk Down (2001)
Not Quite Right
i am appalled at the fact that this movie has made it into IMDB the top 250 films list. From Pilger, In 1993, in the last days of George Bush Senior's presidency, 18 American soldiers were killed in Somalia after the US Marines had invaded to "restore hope", as they put it. Black Hawk Down, glamorises and lies about this episode. It leaves out the fact that the invading Americans left behind between 7,000 and 10,000 Somalis killed. Many of them innocent civilians. I dont think its the right time for Hollywood to glorify the violence of the Marine Invasion of Somalia. I read alot of negative comments on the inaccuracy of Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan, both based on WW2, which is the last TRUE "good vs. bad" war to be faught. Yes, there are some inaccuracies, but nothing like Black Hawk Down, which is practically wartime propaganda.
Léon (1994)
Great film
i have watched the directors cut of this movie and it is one of the best movies i have ever watched in my entire life. Natalie Portman is beautiful and wonderful acting by Jean Reno and Gary Oldman.I dont know why they had to cut 26 minutes of this film. If you only saw the edited version, there is a whole other aspect to this movie which makes it a love story.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
Great movie
For you to truely understand this movie you must have either done those drugs stated in the movie or are under the influence of those drugs while watching the movie. Then you can see the actions of Depp and Del Toro and their behavior are more understandable as you would act even worse. The thoughts and narration in this movie are the same reactions and thoughts you would think if you were on those drugs.
The Mummy Returns (2001)
I want my money back
i accidentally clicked to a link to this page and i have to say from what i saw, it was all crap. I saw this in the theater with my friends and i fell asleep at that retarded scene with the characters traveling in a rocket powered blimp or some crap like that and woke up when Brenden Fraser was rescued by the same blimp on top of some pyramid. This movie is long as hell, like 3 hours or something, and its 3 hours of boredom. All i have to say is dont watch this movie, its pure crap.
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
A successful Hollywood remake
A very daring hollywood remake on one of the first American fairy tales. The cinematography of Sleepy Hollow, captivates the audience, and portrays just the right mood for this horror, thriller, comedy. Kudos to Johnny's over the top performance of the forensics scientist Ichabod even though the acting may falter in some scenes (esp. the fainting). An all-star cast from both Europe and America, very talented. This seems like Tim Burton's ode to the classic Black Sunday by Mario Bava on terms of mood and setting. Some jumpy scenes and an awesome headless horseman makes this movie a winner.
Dead Presidents (1995)
great (esp.Tucker)
Chris Tucker is hilarious in this movie, he has great on screen charisma, and he speaks his lines very fluidly, as if he was improvising. Larenz Tate is great as well, being able to pull off the young version of his character, since he has a boyish face. And Bokeem Woodbine reminds me of Samuel L. Jackson in this movie. The cinematography is also great and so is the acting overall. Like everyone says, its not so much as a heist movie, but a reflection on the hardships of the black individual, such as finding work and drug abuse; after fighting a war that wasnt really meant for them or their country.
