Slaughterhouse Slumber Party (2019)
Naked Girls and CGI Blood n' Guts
Dustin Mills provides us here with his newest title, everything an independent horror fan would want. The top mid-western girls of independent cinema are featured in this film and you get to see every inch of them all. The CGI effects are fun and different from the normal practical gore effects we are used to see in these films. The story-line is fun, as it pokes at 80's genre films and the Ohio independent horror circuit. It never takes itself too seriously and provides a surprisingly large amount of entertainment, which these days after all the trash coming out of mainstream theaters, it's good to just get entertained sometimes. If this is Dustin's best work to date, I cannot wait to see him outdo himself on the next one.

Really fun women in prison film
Jared Cohn delivers here a great homage to the classic exploitation genre women in prison. With a cast of virtual unknowns lead by the drop dead gorgeous Sara Malakul Lane, we are shown the tale of a young girl wrongfully imprisoned and wronged by life itself. She continues making bad decisions but with choice for in this vicious prison environment the only way to make it through the day is to find a way to survive.
We are given a look, a realistic look, at prison life, but we've seen this before, even on the shows like Locked Up, which was notorious for showing real prison life. The direction is fine, the camerawork and lighting are all good, the music leaves much to be desired, perhaps someone should've chosen a more appropriate score, and there's several continuity editing errors. I have seen some of Jared Cohn's other work, I'm sure this is just from lack of great personnel or a rushed schedule.
I wholeheartedly recommend people watch this. You get a fun-filled non-stop gripping tale of a young girl's survival, and if that's not enough, it's filled with non-stop gratuitous nudity on an epic level.
Blind (2004)
Good true crime drama
With his first film Jeff Wedding gives us a throwback to the 90's cop dramas. With a tale of a damaged cop who ends up going after a very damaged serial killer and victim of child abuse. The subject matter of child abuse is handled very realistically, not really shown, but you get the emotion from the voice overs. This is a good touch cause it let's you get into the mind of the killer, and why he's doing what he's doing. Very reminiscent of Silence of the Lambs, which I'm sure was some inspiration behind this movie. David Mellow does a wonderful job with the cinematography, the camerawork and lighting. The sound design is of very good quality.
For being an indie film-maker, here are his first attempt. You can see already he films his films with a quality higher classed than most indie film-makers. This is no masterpiece and it does tend to pace itself on long takes of people talking, very similar to the crime dramas it's based on. The movie it reminded me most of was the fantastic film Relentless (1989). The flow and plot-line are very similar in there. Katie Groshong shines in the limited role she has, but Ben Clayton keeps the movie moving.
All in all, I give this movie kudos for being a director's first attempt, and a very good one at that. For Jeff Wedding would go on to make masterpieces.

Erotic Vampire romance in vein of Rollin
In this new film from Jeremiah Kipp he shows us that there are still people who know how to make erotic gothic romance. Arielle and Sarah do an amazing job acting and delivering very emotional, sexy, and gripping performances as the two lead actresses. Reminiscent of an old Jean Rollin film we are introduced to these erotic ladies of the night in a modern setting, which makes for a unique tale. Even though we're in the city, Kipp manages to keep this dark and monotone feeling while you're watching these actresses show their vampiric prowess. Filled with emotional performances, realistic acting, gratuitous and very sexy lovely naked ladies. Kipp has managed to breathe a little life into the drab and dismal films coming out of Hollywood.
I can't tell you how much a breathe of fresh air this film was. Hardly anybody makes decent erotic films anymore. So hopefully Jeremiah Kipp is taking a page from Domiziano Cristopharo and bringing a little bit of European cinema to the States. If you like erotic romance, if you like blood-covered naked bodies, then definitely find a copy of this film and watch it. Kudos to Kipp, may he not get distracted by the bright lights of the industry, keep his head focused on this type of film, he's very good at it.
Found (2012)
Instant cult classic
WOW. 😮 I was blown away by this movie. It is the first coming of age/horror film I've ever seen. In some ways it reminds me of Frailty (2001), I found it even hard to believe that this is an indie movie. It did not feel like the good stuff you normally see from indie film makers these days. This is a film that should've played in theaters to much praise from those loser critics. It was amazingly shot, the acting was spot on, the lightning and sound design, even the way they make the movies that the kids watch in the movie feel cheap, that never spilled over into the real movie you're watching. I cannot recommend this movie enough. Everyone should watch this film, you should watch this film.
Primordial (2015)
Widing's Best Work!
Like a violent descent down a spiral staircase straight to hell, with every scene you follow a young fledgling criminal as she sinks further into depressive state and slowly gives over to the darkest urges of her sadistic mind.
Ending up on the wrong side of the criminals, she now finds herself hunted and her whole world crumbling around her. Eric Widing delivers an absolute punch-to-the-gut with his dramatic and grim tale of a person on the
edge of sanity who may be slipping into the abyss. These actresses put on an astonishing performance that is heavy, dramatic and extremely graphic, compared to what you normally see from most of them.
Experience a dark ride while watching this film, and do be careful not to let yourself give over to those sinister urges that might be hiding inside of you.

Portrait of a true relationship
Ben Zolno writes, directs and stars in this wonderful romantic drama, and he does an outstanding job bringing this story to the screen. What starts out as the story unfolds is a tale of two lovers who come to a crossroad in their relationship. Do they go and become a more serious couple, build a life together, or do they take a break to take in all the world can give us? These are questions that even the oldest of us still ask ourselves sometimes. His minimalistic use of extras or additional sets truly makes the film unique in this category. You literally spend the 85 minutes with this couple through the ups and the downs, through the good and the bad, as they try to sort out their lives. What ensues is comedic, romantic tear-jerking and heart-warming. The lead actress Ivana does a great job, her performance is also very believable. It's a shame this film did not get more attention for this is the type of film that should be shown to the mainstream audiences instead of the garbage we see on a regular basis. My hats of to Ben for giving us this gem.
