Deep Water (2022)
Screw rotten tomatoes, this was so good!
First Ana is stunning, and I don't think J. Lo will be able to watch this!! Just saying! Ana & Ben we're incredible in this film, I still can't quite say thriller, I'd say sexy drama but I enjoyed it all. We never got bored, confused as hell but you've gotta pay attention is all I'll say. Ben is getter better & hotter to me. I totally got it & we loved it. ππΎππΎ You'll enjoy it.
Battle of the Year (2013)
If you love hip hop
Sorry I don't agree with reviews that call it bad, but I'm bias I love seeing the talents of the dancers and they bring it! Dancing with the blind folds was sick! Plus I love Breezy so again bias. I even like the human story & uplifting message of change Your mind, change Your life!! Being a team United. Saw this with my now 19 yr old, we enjoyed it!!!
Cut Throat City (2020)
Similar story to many others still pretty good
I'm still a bit confused by the ending, did it or did it not happen but I cannot dispute the stellar cast in this film. Terrance Howard, Ethan Hawke & Wesley Snipes were simply damn good. I love the actor playing Blink, he was so strong & believable & I was impressed a lot with T.I. & Kat Graham. TI was brutal & raw, and Kat playing ride or die wife was beautiful. This film although nothing very new was a eye opener to how awful Katrina was for so many in the black communities & how hard choices they made to survive were. I found this gripping & entertaining still. Enjoyed it!!
Hereditary (2018)
Whoa this was deep!!
I instantly thought of Rosemarys baby after watching it. My daughter & I are horror/thriller fans, and when I saw the trailer I said oh yes!!! I was not ready though being honest for how deep this was. Toni Collette is beyond brilliant in this film & truly this was Oscar worthy for sure!! She's phenomenal as the off mother & wife and truly every actor bought their A game. It's freaky, scary, shocking & a bit confusing too!! How much grief can any one family take then add the demonic piece to it!!! I normally hate occult films, but it really is bigger than that! Get ready because you cannot take your eyes off this film for a second.
Love & Basketball (2000)
Amazing black love story!
No words other than I can watch Sanaa & Omar in this film daily. When we think of soulmates, ups & downs in relationships, growth and maturity this film gives it all with a freakin amazing soundtrack that so many black films give us. It's just a touching & beautifully made film that anyone of anyone can enjoy still our community will appreciate so many 90s elements, music, slang, and fashion. How every thing both Q & Monica went through was something we all understood & related too and that final scene of will he/won't he, magical!!!
Grease 2 (1982)
Really enjoyed it
Way over due review but I was happy to see someone also wrote they really liked it too. I think people compare it to #1 and maybe that's why it was rated not good but I totally disagree. I remember my now 18 yr old daughter watching it at 8yrs old and she loved it. I then played the original John travolta version & she was bored with it. I personally like the 1st but honestly Grease 2 has better music, choreography & really good looking actors overall. I read once Michelle Pfieffer almost didn't get Scarface because of this film which is crazy to me. She looked good, danced great & acted well in this light hearted film. I love the actor Maxwell he was so handsome and again the story & music to me was really good. I even gifted the dvd to my daughter who was Gaga over it!!
Sorry folks who disagree but I just rewatched again & it's a great feel good musical & story.
Creed II (2018)
Damn good film!!!
Haters sit down this film was so freakin good. The first of course was off the hook amazing but Steven caple jr did a helluva job! Maybe the whole Drago thing wasn't a new story like Creed 1, but when you see the ferocious Viktor you can't help but be excited like I still am when watching Rocky 4. The age old David & Goliath is felt again. You simply are in awe of big nasty Viktor and yet this film has the real life moments we woman love because it shows you how a man can sink low, feel less than & how that right partner can push you in the best way. This is vulnerable, action packed, heart tugging and the rush is amazing to me still. Excellent sequel for sure!!!
Bad Boys for Life (2020)
BB4L does not disappoint
There are a few times in films where you get a duo that changes the games. Martin Lawrence & Will Smith did that for me when they first did Bad boys and this movie was freakin awesome! I love that although we're our age, they didn't try to avoid that topic while clearly showing the sex appeal hadn't left Mike Lowry & the funny as hell didn't leave my boy Marty Mar. The plot, comedy, cast just worked! I had nothing but faith despite other haters out there. These two still have tears of their best to give and I'm ready for any ride they're on. Must see.
Knives Out (2019)
Oh this was good!
My daughter & I were so excited to see this. The trailer reminded me of a game of clue and that's what it felt like. Who done it & why? I love the roles everyone played, but Chris Evans & Daniel Craig were the best things about the film. We loved how it all came together. Nothing disappointing, so well acted by all. We laughed a lot. It's a must see, you won't be disappointed.
Burlesque (2010)
Why are people haters!!!
This is such a cool film and I don't know why only a few see that. The music was fantastic, I mean Christina hello! And Cher HELLO! I swear after I saw it with my daughter who loves it btw, I went searching for a club like it.
The dancing, costumes and even the story line of two strong women finding friendship and supporting one another was great. She's struggling to keto her club & the young star is loyal enough to ride or die with her. We have the Dvd and I really love it!! Screw critics.
Queen & Slim (2019)
Beautiful tragedy
I was in awe of this film, that initially I didn't desire to see because I expected to be so angry. I was still angry but what these two people had to do and how they had to open up to one another and trust one another was beautiful. The faith that began after doubting God, the hope people began to have in them both, and the love that developed between them two was priceless. I felt I looked at love differently and that may seem over the top but it's true. How your heart has the capacity to love is a major point, trusting even when you try hard not to. They both discovered who they really were and the way this story was written and how much it draws you in was just brilliant. Lena Waithe is a force. Must see film
Annabelle (2014)
Big fan
You learn quick a Spirit is attached to the doll and it's not the ugly doll itself. Lol. I disagree with any negative critique of this film. It had a great plot, scary as hell and I enjoyed the actors a lot. Part 2 really explained so much, and 3 really brings it home!!! Must see
The Prodigy (2019)
This was a cool concept. Enjoyed it
My daughter and I saw this film and I'm surprised of the mix reaction. This was original, fresh & a great thriller film. I must have jumped several times but in a good way. The young actor Jackson is so good and really took on the role so well, and I was so impressed with all of the actors. I often times say critics are misleading & most times wrong. I believe if you're a thriller, horror & suspense lover that you'll really enjoy this movie.
Truth or Dare (2018)
Pretty entertaining
My son & godson insisted on watching it and honestly it's pretty good to me. It kept out attention. I thought plot although is more about moral dilemmas, was good & interesting. You definitely will start to think what would you do to protect yourself or those you love. All in all we enjoyed it and it's not a horrible film like I've seen others say. Worth the watch for sure.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
This movie is fire
Despite Keanu's obvious good looks the man is "the" OG action star & rightfully so. John Wick trilogies are so freaking good and Pt.3 was action packed from beginning to end. I've never seen Halle Berry go hard like this & she was no slouch it was so good. We loved the action, the story, the humor all of it was brilliantly done. And the nod to the Matrix was just that little extra piece of awesome. This does not disappoint and is a must see film. How Keanu does it I don't know but dude does it so freakin well and I am loving every second of it. 10 out of 10!!! Yes it's that good
