A few weeks ago, we heard that The CW had cancelled the Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters after just one season – which wasn’t a major surprise, since The CW is under new management that is looking to wipe the slate clean for the most part. But being cancelled by The CW didn’t necessarily have to mean that The Winchesters was dead, because the show’s producers at Warner Bros. Television had the chance to find a new home for it on another network or at a streaming service. Unfortunately, Deadline reports that no one was interested in picking up The Winchesters, so the show is now officially over.
The Winchesters came from Warner Bros Television and CBS Studios. Glen Winter (Supergirl) directed and executive produced the pilot episode. This show was executive produced by Supernatural star Jensen Ackles and his wife Danneel through their company Chaos Machine Productions.

A couple months ago, Robbie Thompson – showrunner of the Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters – expressed uncertainty as to whether or not his show was going to get a second season now that The CW is being retooled. Now it’s official: The CW has cancelled The Winchesters after just one season.
Kung Fu has also been cancelled after three seasons. The CW provided the following statement to Variety: “As we reimagine the new CW, we had to make some tough programming decisions. We thank our partners at Warner Bros. and the casts and creative teams of Kung Fu and The Winchesters for all their hard work, creativity and dedication.“
The Winchesters‘ chance of continuing appeared to drop in a major way once Mark Pedowitz left as head of the network. Supernatural was already in its sixth season when Pedowitz joined The CW, but he was an established fan who had seen every episode to date.

Drake Rodger, best known for his series-lead role as John Winchester on CW’s The Winchesters, has signed with Gersh for representation.
Meg Donnelly and Rodger star in the CW series as the future parents of Supernatural leads Sam and Dean. The Winchesters became CW’s most watched series debut in October 2022, with Rodger playing the titular role of young John Winchester returning home from Vietnam and where he uncovers traces of his father’s past with a secret organization.
Told from Dean’s perspective, The Winchesters follows the epic, untold love story of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world. Supernatural alum Robbie Thompson penned The Winchesters, which comes from Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios.
Rodger’s early roles as an actor include supporting roles in Not Alone, Murder Rx and Terra Beach.

The CW series Supernatural was already in its sixth season when Mark Pedowitz became head of the network, but he was an established fan who had seen every episode to date. And as the series continued through the 15 season run that Pedowitz enabled, the network head was so supportive that Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles – who played monster-hunting brothers Sam and Dean Winchester on the show – came to think of him as “the other Winchester”. Pedowitz was still the head of The CW when the Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters was ordered, but last year Nexstar Media Group acquired a controlling interest in the network and Pedowitz exited his post. The Winchesters‘ first season just finished airing, and showrunner Robbie Thompson told TV Line he’s not sure if there will be a season 2 at The CW now that Pedowitz is gone.

Tom Welling will be pulling double duty on The CW this fall.
News broke Sunday during the New York Comic Con panel for The Winchesters that Welling had booked a role on the forthcoming Supernatural spinoff.
Welling is best known for playing Clark Kent on The WB/CW's Smallville.
According to TV Line, the actor will play Samuel Campbell. If you watch Supernatural online, you know Mitch Pileggi originated the role on the original series.
The Winchesters is a prequel that tells the story of John and Mary Winchester, so it makes sense to have Mary's father (Samuel) as a part of the cast.
The casting news reunites Welling with Jensen Ackles, who appeared on Smallville.

The tale of the young, star-crossed lovers known as "Romeo & Juliet" has been told and retold for centuries, but Hulu and 20th Century Studios have a whole new perspective to bring to the table. In a comedic twist on William Shakespeare's classic romantic tragedy, the tale of "Romeo & Juliet" is being retold through the lens of Rosaline, the gal Romeo was exclusively dating before he ran into Juliet at a party and completely turned his entire life (and family) upside down. Rosaline is devastated when she learns that her boyfriend has left her for someone new, and goes on a mission to break the two of them up and win back the man of her dreams.
"Rosaline" looks to be taking the anachronistic approach of Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet" and inverting it, with classic period garb and set dressings injected with contemporary language and sensibilities.

Lerman will portray Addy, a Polish and Jewish 25-year-old who lives in Paris as an engineer, but who also builds his musical composing career. Paramount snagged the rights to “Stray,” an action movie from “John Wick” mastermind Derek Kolstad.
Kolstad is writing the screenplay for the film, which is set to star “Masters of the Universe” actor Kyle Allen. A director has not been attached. Though plot details have not been announced, it will be in the vein of rock-’em-sock-’em revenge thrillers like “John Wick” and Bob Odenkirk’s “Nobody.”
Akiva Goldsman and Greg Lessans will produce through Weed Road Pictures, and Kolstad will produce through his company Tradecraft.
“Kyle has an infectious energy about him and is an absolute joy to riff with on all things genre. Couple that with Akiva and Greg at our backs and this is going to be one hell of a ride. I honestly can’t wait to dig in with this team,” said Kolstad.

It says something about the state of modern romance that even the most mainstream teen rom-coms find inspiration in deconstructing traditional relationship structures. Based on the eponymous YA novel by Jennifer E. Smith and with a screenlay by Ben York Jones and Amy Reed, Netflix’s latest teen romance “Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between” follows two teens who plan their break-up on their very first date. No longer the sole province of Woody Allen-influenced adult rom-coms, the neurotic commitment-phobic teen, jaded by parental divorce and social media, has finally come for YA. Unfortunately in this case, they’re far less interesting than that sounds.
Playing with a gimmicky structure, “Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between” begins with a meet-cute, fast-forwards through a whirlwind senior year romance montage, then spends most of its brief 84-minute running time on a highly planned final “break-up” date. As Aidan (Jordan Fisher) and...

When Mom Rock got an invite to perform on the Rock Boat in 2020, they presumed it was a spam email, or a joke. This was a five-day cruise from Miami through the Caribbean headlined by veteran acts like Switchfoot and Sister Hazel, and they were a bunch of college students who’d never played anything bigger than a basement house party. “We were about to write it off before we actually realized it was a real thing,” says Mom Rock singer-guitarist Curtis Heimburger. “We had no idea how we got asked.

“Ghostbusters: Afterlife” actor Celeste O’Connor has been cast in “Madame Web,” an upcoming installment in Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters.
O’Connor’s role has not been announced. They will appear in the comic-book adventure alongside Dakota Johnson, who is playing the title character, as well as Sydney Sweeney of “Euphoria” fame.
The movie will serve as an origin story for Madame Web, a clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world itself. In the Marvel comics, Madame Web is a paralyzed, elderly woman with myasthenia gravis, a chronic autoimmune disorder requiring her to connect to a life support system resembling a spider web. Her supernatural abilities prove to be greatly beneficial to Spider-Man and his fellow arachnid allies, like Spider-Woman. Given her condition, though, she’s never battled villains herself.

“I wrote a partial manuscript, about 100 pages. That was what was brought to Joey King, but I had already fleshed out what the rest of the book was going to be,...
