Although LSD can produce harmful illusions, LSD does not produce extremely violent, spastic and paranoid reactions in most people, as depicted in the film. Moreover, it is clear at the end of the film that most of the dancers have died from LSD overdoses. However, people do not die from LSD overdoses any more than they die from marijuana or tobacco overdoses.
While the movie is supposed to be set in 1996, which is confirmed by the clothes, the music and the lack of smartphones, the French spoken in the film is very much 2010s, with many anglicisms or other recent verbal tics heard throughout the movie. This is due to the improvised dialogue from the cast working off of a five-page script.
Even though the film is set in 1996, the song Windowlicker by Aphex Twin is featured, which wasn't released until 1999.
