Sex & Nudity
-
- A couple kisses in three scenes.
- The father-in-law of a married man comments about not jumping into another woman's bed, implying his marriage woes were caused by infidelity.
Violence & Gore
-
- One bystander is shown dead on the ground with a bleeding gunshot wound to the chest.
- One antagonist is shown falling over, killed with a hammer stuck in his head.
- Overall not much gore, but a few intense and violent gun fights.
- Hammer seen right through person's head, very gory
- The military shoots people and a plane with people on it blows up.
- Pretty violent for a PG-13 film with someone getting hit in the head with a hammer, we can see the hammer stuck to the side of his head, a man getting impaled in a plane crash and more. Lots of disaster violence throughout.
Profanity
-
- Some mild curses. One partial use of f*ck, very easy to miss.
- Use of the word 'shit' occurs occasionally
- There is a use of BS
- The word fuck is used but it is whispered so it's very easy to miss.
- 'Jesus' used multiple times; gaddamn used 5 times.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
-
- We see John pick up a case of Bud Light but nothing serious.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
-
- Quite a few violent and very intense scenes with gun fights, angry mobs, and a generally upset feeling.
- At one point, a mother begs the Garritys to take her young daughter with them; Allison and Nathan agree, but John refuses to let the girl come with them. This scene might be quite emotional.
- Some jump scares of debris impact.
- Very stressful and intense for almost the entire runtime.
Spoilers
Violence & Gore
- A secondary protagonist is impaled and slowly dies on screen. Very disturbing as well as bloody.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- A few strong upsetting and very intense scenes involving crying children being torn away from their friends or parents.
- A secondary protagonist dies and is shown briefly about an hour in. Very disturbing and emotional.
- The mother is ripped away from her son, who is kidnapped for awhile. The most disturbing scene in the movie.
- The whole theme of the movie is that a humongous astroid is going to hit earth and wipe out humanity as a whole. This can be disturbing to some viewers as it shows how something not seen as a threat can quickly become deadly and pose a threat to everyone (i.e. Yellowstone Supervolcano).
