If you are an ardent fan of Greek mythology and read a plethora of books such as The Song of Achilles, Circe, Percy Jackson Series, and many more, then you surely would have enjoyed watching Netflix’s Blood of Zeus. Even though the series is based on Greek mythology and legends, it is nothing that we don’t know or haven’t read. Despite trying to stand apart from the ancient legends and myths that we are aware of, the show often falters in creating something new.
Heron, the son of Zeus
The show is full of problems, and it is only great when it adds a dark twist to the Greek legends while trying not to stray too far away from the authentic source material. However, it looks like the show is in a tight spot, as the creators, Vlas and Charley Parlapanides, open up about the repetitive aspect of the show.

Logan Lerman and Joey King star in the Hulu series, We Were The Lucky Ones, based on the book of the same name by Georgia Hunter. The series and book explore the dramatized version of how siblings Addy and Halina, the former of whom is Hunter’s grandfather, survived the Holocaust. While promoting the series on the red carpet of its premiere at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, Lerman shared that the story drew him because it was a ‘real’ Holocaust story.

Lerman also shared that he felt other fictional movies on the subject were exploitative and wrong. However, Lerman starred in the Prime Video series, Hunters, a conspiracy drama that tells the fictional story of a group of real Nazi hunters.

Logan Lerman, best known for the Percy Jackson film series, began acting in commercials when he was young and made his film debut in 2000 with the movie The Patriot. After starring in several movies, he decided he needed a break in the early 2000s and would return to the industry when he was 12. In 2004, he was cast in one of the two titular roles in the TV series Jack & Bobby.
Logan Lerman in Hunters
By the time he was cast as the titular character in the 2009 movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, he had appeared in numerous projects and won three Young Artist Awards. The movies have been criticized for deviating from the source material for years. With the release of the new Disney+ series, fans were hoping to have those mistakes corrected. However, Lerman’s recent words have drawn a surprisingly new reaction from them.

Netflix is no longer adapting Rick Riordan’s “Kane Chronicles” book series into feature films.
Riordan, best known as the author of the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” books, shared the news while responding to question from a fan on Goodreads.
“Right now, Kane Chronicles is in ‘turnaround,’ which means Netflix has decided not to move forward and their option has lapsed after trying for two years to develop a script they liked,” he wrote. “Now it depends on whether another studio would like to step in, assume the preproduction costs, and move forward.”
Riordan announced the development of “The Kane Chronicles” film trilogy in 2020. The first film, based on 2010’s “The Red Pyramid,” was penned by “Star Trek: Prodigy” writer Diandra Pendleton-Thompson, according to a 2022 blog post where Riordan wrote that he was expecting a new script draft soon.

[Editor’s note: This story contains spoilers for the film and series “One Day,” both based on David Nicholls’ 2009 novel of the same name.]
If you went to see the 2011 film “One Day” in theaters, you may remember one thing and one thing only. That thing. In fact, as we type out this article, unsuspecting viewers all over the world are booting up Netflix’s superior adaptation and probably receiving the shock of a lifetime in Episode 11, refreshing the battery life on this harrowing plot twist for a whole new generation.
But Nicole Taylor’s new series has way more going for it than the film did, and a lasting power that includes compelling leads, inviting chemistry, and genuinely adept storytelling — none of which were present in the movie (that Anne Hathaway/Jim Sturgess misstep is currently rocking a 35 percent on Rotten Tomatoes).
In her review, IndieWire Senior TV Writer Proma Khosla noted, “‘One Day’ as a limited series leaves a much stronger impression than it ever could have as a film, minting [Ambika] Mod and [Leo] Woodall’s chemistry,...

While Disney has been on something of a cancellation spree of late with its live-action, family friendly shows, there is at least good news if you were a fan of the series adaptation of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson And The Olympians books. Based on the viewing figures, plenty of people were, and the company has handed down a season 2 renewal from its corporate Mount Olympus (Mouse Olympus? We'll see ourselves out quietly).
Yes, the impressive viewing figures, critical praise and buzzy weekly releases have lead to a bona fide hit on the streaming service, and on that the company itself produces, which makes it even more attractive.
There's also the factor of righting the wrongs of the two movies, which never quite seemed to capture the magic of Riordan's published works. The show, which stars The Adam Project's Walker Scobell as Percy alongside Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri,...

"Percy Jackson and the Olympians," the second attempt at adapting the popular book series by Rick Riordan, is taking one step closer to being able to tell its complete story. After the movie series ended abruptly with the terrible "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters," Disney has decided to renew the TV adaptation for a second season that tackles the events of that story. This was announced by CEO Bob Iger during the company's first quarter earnings call for 2024. The news comes as Disney announced the first season of "Percy Jackson" was their biggest non-Marvel and non-"Star Wars" hit on streaming.
"I can't wait to bring the next season of 'Percy Jackson' to Disney+! Raise anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods. We're heading for the Sea of Monsters!" Riordan said in a statement. The upcoming second season sees the return of Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries,...

Things are getting tense for our young trio of heroes in Percy Jackson and the Olympians as they continue to make their way across the U.S. Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) have narrowly escaped death not once, not twice, but three times in the short time since they left Camp Half-Blood to find Zeus’ missing master bolt. Time is running out, and the trio still hasn’t figured out who took Zeus’ powerful weapon, or why it was stolen in the first place.
With somewhat safe transportation to the west coast secured, and the promise of help from his father once they get to California, Percy and his friends push forward on their quest, despite the dangers that likely await them in the Underworld.

"Percy Jackson And The Olympians" may have just debuted on Disney+, but the show's young cast is already thinking ahead to the future. In a recent Deadline story, it wasn't the second season on their minds, but something even bigger: a crossover event with one of the streamers' flagship franchises, the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "I hope that there will eventually be an Avengers–Percy Jackson crossover," Grover actor Aryan Simhadri told the outlet, earning nods of approval from co-stars Walker Scobell and Leah Sava Jeffries.
Obviously, Marvel doesn't really do inter-franchise crossovers, but Simhadri's idea isn't that out there as the massive superhero machine isn't immune to passionate calls for cameos. Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire appeared in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" after fans wished and hoped for their returns for years, while Megan Thee Stallion ended up in "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" after mutual friend Jameela Jamil found out...

The first episode of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” brought in 13.3 million viewers in its first six days on Disney+ and Hulu.
This number puts the series among the top five most-watched season premieres in all of 2023 on both streaming services. While the exact titles that make up the top five lists are unknown, both platforms released major titles this year. Among Disney+ debuts were “The Mandalorian” Season 3, “Loki” Season 2, “Ahsoka” and “Secret Invasion.” Hulu releases in 2023 included “The Bear” Season 2, “Only Murders in the Building” Season 3, “The Kardashians” Seasons 3 and 4, “American Horror Stories” Season 3, the “Futurama” reboot and more.

Do second-chance adaptations have a better shot at doing justice to the source material? The film versions of Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson & the Olympians" book series received mixed reactions, and for good reason — their narratives failed to capture the nuances of Riordan's beloved novels and deviated heavily from the established canon. However, the small-screen adaptation of the book series, also titled "Percy Jackson & the Olympians," recently debuted its first two episodes on Disney+ to positive reviews. As Riordan himself is actively involved with the project, this adaptation is more faithful to its source material than its movie counterparts and reflects the ethos of Riordan's fantasy world in authentic ways.

Disney appears to be putting quite a few eggs in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians basket.

Season 1 follows the events from the first of five books by Rick Riordan with the intention that the series will comprise five seasons, one for each of the novels. There’s no official word yet on whether Season 2 will see the light of day, and executives will certainly be keeping a close eye on how the series performs through the holidays. Transitions are challenging, and for preteens encountering those first pivotal life shifts, change can feel overwhelming. For 12-year-old Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), who has always felt like an outsider, coming of age means godly encounters, foretold prophecies and cross-country quests. Based on the acclaimed books by Rick Riordan, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is a gorgeous, intriguing narrative about self-discovery, courage and friendship.
For viewers who haven’t read Riordan’s expansive series and have never seen the lackluster film adaptations, the premiere, “I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher,” lays the groundwork of who Percy is, and the obstacles he’s faced thus far. The only child of a single mother, Sally (Virginia Kull), Percy has dealt with a slew of school expulsions, bullies and Adhd and dyslexia diagnoses. The middle schooler is used to things not going his way, but a class field trip to the Met in New York City is a doozy.

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” the Disney+ series based on the book series of the same name, will concurrently launch on Hulu on Dec. 20.
Only the first episode will stream on Hulu, while Disney+ will get two episodes on the premiere date, followed by new episodes weekly. Additionally, Episode 1 will remain on Hulu only through Jan. 31.

Percy Jackson and The Olympians is the story of the 12-year-old demigod Percy Jackson and his quest across America to prevent a war between the Olympian Gods. When the story begins, Percy believes he is just an ordinary kid, although, admittedly, an ordinary kid who sees unusual things sometimes.
But that all changes at the end of episode one of the Disney+ series. All at once, Percy Jackson discovers that everything he suspected, and more, is true. That discovery takes the form of an angry nine-foot-tall minotaur.
“It coincides with Walker [Scobell, who plays Percy] understanding that the things he’s seen in his young life that he always attributed to mental illness are not that,” says Erik Henry, Senior Visual Effects Supervisor on the show. “It’s a device to catapult you into the world you’re about to inhabit.”
It is a game-changing moment for Percy, for the audience, and for the show itself.

As the year winds down and certain shows have been pushed due to the previous WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the December lineup for television is relatively quiet this year, at least compared to the film slate. The lack of clutter, however, allows for some smaller or more niche titles to be given their due, even if we have to wait for some of the bigger returns and premieres to arrive in the new year. From a South Korean horror series returning for its highly anticipated season two to a new adult animated series on Netflix and a long-awaited adaptation of the “Percy Jackson” series, there’s plenty to seek out, especially if you’re looking for television that digs into fantasy.

The gifts don’t stop in December at Disney+! In addition to holiday festivities all month long like the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade and the CMA Country Christmas Special, the House of Mouse streamer will soon become the home for Whovians and Demigods.
Disney+ will deck the halls with a glut of Gallifreyan adventures and the premiere of the long-awaited “Doctor Who” anniversary specials. The first of the three debuted on BBC One and on the Disney streamer on Nov. 25, but the other two David Tennant and Catherine Tate-led serials will arrive on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9. Later in the month, ring in Christmas with the franchise’s holiday special with Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson getting their full-episode debuts.
And the wait is over for “Percy Jackson” fans, who will see the beloved Rick Riordan book series get a (hopefully) respectful adaptation with the premiere of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Now might be the perfect time to re-read Rick Riordan’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” books before the adaptation arrives on Disney+ at the end of the year. For this show, only the main foundation series (and maybe just the first book) are required reading before Camp Halfblood comes to life on the small screen.
The first two episodes of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” arrive December 20 on the streamer, followed one new episode per week. Christmas will be to “Percy Jackson” fans as Thanksgiving will be to “Hunger Games” fans, with “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” film adaptation arriving in theaters November 17. We’re here for the YA literary revival!
But back to Greek gods, demigods and monsters — here’s everything we know about the upcoming “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Disney+ series:

After nearly 15 years, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” author Rick Riordan is out with a new book centered on the original core trio of Percy, Annabeth and Grover, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Chalice of the Gods.” But, will this new set of adventures make it into the upcoming Disney+ series? Well, for Riordan, it’s too soon to say — but he’s not opposed to it.
“That is just too far down the horizon to know the answer to. I don’t know,” he told TheWrap at his Chicago book tour stop on Sunday. “I mean, right now we’re just focusing on season one. And if it does well, who knows? You know, the kids are totally excited. “Percy Jackson” author Rick Riordan explained to Entertainment Weekly that making his franchise more diverse by casting Leah Jeffries as Annabeth Chase in the upcoming Disney+ series was always staying true to the reason he wrote the “Percy Jackson” books in the first place. Jeffries’ casting last year generated backlash from racist fans upset that a Black actor was playing a character that Riordan described in his book as a blonde white girl. Riordan immediately shut down toxic fans, and now he has told EW that Jeffries’ casting is true to the spirit of his franchise, as the only reason he wrote “Percy Jackson” was because his child was having difficulty in school.
“He was struggling with dyslexia and Adhd, having a terrible time in school, but the one thing he did love was Greek mythology,” Riordan said. “As a classroom teacher myself, I knew a great deal about Greek mythology.

On May 23, 2023, the streaming service Max will debut a reboot of "Clone High," the Canadian animated series created by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Bill Lawrence that initially ran in 2002 and 2003.
For those unfamiliar with the series, it had something of an odd premise. A shadowy governmental organization called the Secrey Board of Shadowy Figures has found a way to clone notable leaders from throughout human history. Hundreds of them were cloned about 16 years ago, and the teenage versions of the historical figures are now all attending the same all-American high school. The series lead was Abraham Lincoln (Will Forte), who would encounter the usual trials of adolescence. Abe would have an on-again-off-again relationship with Cleopatra (Christa Miller), and was best friends with Joan of Arc (Nicole Sullivan) and Gandhi (Michael McDonald). Abe's primary rival was the womanizing JFK (Chris Miller). Other attendees of Clone High included Martin Luther King, Jr.,...

James Gunn is still searching for his Man of Steel. The DC Studios head shot down rumors that casting for his highly anticipated young-Superman film is nearing completion on Twitter Wednesday, as well as the notion that actor Logan Lerman is the top candidate.
On Wednesday, Grace Randolph, a YouTube host and internet personality, tweeted that she heard casting for Gunn’s upcoming “Superman: Legacy,” a reboot of the character focusing on the beginning of his career, is “very close” to being set. After a fan tagged Gunn asking him to weigh in, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” director said the rumor was false and that he “hadn’t had a single talk with a single actor about the role.” He did share that he was “making private lists” for candidates, however, and was in the middle of prepping audition materials for the film.

Idris Elba stars in “Beast” as a father trying to protect his two daughters from a ferocious lion on a South African nature preserve. It turns out Elba’s 20-year-old daughter auditioned to play one of his character’s daughters in the film, but she failed to land the role because her chemistry with her father “wasn’t right.” According to Elba, she stopped speaking to him for three weeks after she lost out on the role.

The author made the announcement on his social media accounts and website on Saturday. “Hey everybody, want some more exciting news? We’re developing ‘The Kane Chronicles’ as feature films for Netflix,” he said. “More news soon.”
On his website, Riordan wrote that he’d been working on a deal with Netflix since last October, around the same time he and Disney Plus began negotiating on a TV series for his “Percy Jackson” novels.
“We have been working on this deal since last October, about the same time we started working on Percy, and I’m so glad I can now announce it! That’s all I can say for the moment, but stay tuned,” he wrote.

It’s a good thing Brie Larson is at peace with her earlier heartbreaks. In a video she posted on Thursday, the “Captain Marvel” star rattled off all the movies she auditioned for and didn’t get — and it’s quite the list.
Larson broke her list down into movies she auditioned for and then missed out on, as well as movies she made it to the final round for and still didn’t get. And all of these were just from between 2008 and 2009.
“It’s a lot of heartbreak, folks. Here I am, still standing,” she said after running down her list.
Hearing Brie Larson rattle them off rapid-fire is delightful and hilarious, but in case you can’t watch, here’s the full list, including some blockbusters, Oscar-winners, some real stinkers and even a pair of Marvel movies!

Up until recently, the major studios have tended to shy away from making big budget R-rated movies, given that restricting the size of their audience could have a major impact on box office takings. Some of the most expensive R-rated projects ever made only seemed to confirm that long-held belief, with the $185 million Blade Runner 2049 and $200 million Terminator: Dark Fate both disappointing commercially.
That being said, the recent success of the Deadpool franchise, Logan and Joker has shown that adult-orientated blockbusters are more than capable of raking in big bucks if the material is strong enough, even if Marvel Studios seem to be dragging their feet when it comes to deciding if they want Deadpool 3 to follow suit.
Not every big name franchise needs an R-rated movie to stand out in a crowd, of course, but we’ve nonetheless heard that Lucasfilm are now seriously thinking of adopting...

There’ve been a lot of deaths on The Walking Dead, but one that hit the hardest was Glenn’s in the season 7 premiere. Not just because of the horrifically graphic and brutal way he died, but also because it was so tragic for him to be taken from wife Maggie when she was expecting their son. Glenn had been on the show since the beginning, too, so fans found it hard to say goodbye and his legacy is still felt on the series even in its tenth season. We may not have seen the last of the character, though.
According to sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who told us Disney Plus is rebooting Percy Jackson as a TV series and CBS is doing a Captain Pike spinoff – AMC has plans to bring Glenn back for season 11 should actor Steven Yeun agree to return. And as you’d probably imagine,...

The big screen adaptations of Stephen King’s It proved to be so popular that it ranks as the fifth highest-grossing horror franchise in history after raking in almost $1.2 billion at the box office, despite only consisting of two movies. Takings may have dropped by over $200 million between Chapters One and Two, with the critical reception also taking a nosedive, but Hollywood has shown countless times over the years that no profitable brand is ever really finished.
Despite there being no source material to work from, speculation has persisted about a potential third installment or spinoff for Pennywise, something that star Bill Skarsgård has previously admitted he was open to. Chapter Two seemed to split opinion down the middle, with some naming it one of the best horror movies of the year and others calling it a massive disappointment, but with the industry’s latest Stephen King renaissance still in full swing,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man movies have so far struck a great balance between using many familiar faces from the character’s extensive back catalogue of supporting players that have already been seen in the web-slinger’s previous big screen outings at Sony, and still putting a fresh spin on things.
Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May is a lot younger than Rosemary Harris or Sally Field’s versions, Zendaya’s Mj has absolutely nothing in common with Kirsten Dunst’s take on Peter Parker’s main love interest, Angourie Rice’s high-school age Betty Brant is a far cry from the Daily Bugle secretary played by Elizabeth Banks, and it would be an understatement to say that there aren’t many similarities between Tony Revolori and Joe Manganiello, both of whom have played Flash Thompson.

After scooping up an Academy Award win for Best Animated Feature, there’s a real argument to be made that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is the web-slinger’s best big screen outing, which is no easy feat given both the popularity of Tom Holland’s take on the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Spider-Man 2‘s continued reputation as one of the greatest comic book movies ever made.
Following the wave of critical acclaim and commercial success that greeted Miles Morales’ first feature-length outing, an entire universe is set to spawn from Spider-Verse, with multiple characters rumored to be getting their own spinoffs, producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller spearheading a number of animated Marvel projects for the small screen and Sony even reportedly considering a live-action adaptation that would unite Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.

Despite the cult popularity of the franchise, Kick-Ass has laid dormant on the screen for a few years now, ever since 2013’s Kick-Ass 2 failed to reach the same success as the first movie did in 2010. A theatrically-released follow-up in the series seems a bit unlikely, then, but instead it looks like the world of Kick-Ass is about to find a new home on Netflix.
Sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who told us that an Extraction sequel is in development and Percy Jackson is being rebooted as a TV series – have informed us that Netflix is working a new Kick-Ass film. Apparently, it’ll be a reboot of the originals and will feature an all-new cast. That’s all we know for now, unfortunately, but there is something else we can infer about it.

Just because a lot of people have never really been on board with the idea of Brie Larson playing Captain Marvel, it doesn’t mean she isn’t one of the industry’s brightest young stars. After all, not a lot of actors have managed to win an Academy Award, headline a billion dollar superhero movie and direct their first feature all before they’ve turned 30.
That being said, it doesn’t look like the trolls will be leaving her alone anytime soon, with petitions still doing the rounds in an attempt to have Larson removed from her role as Carol Danvers, despite the widely-accepted fact that Captain Marvel will be positioned as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s figureheads, and also replace Captain America as the leader of the Avengers.
Not only that, but the actress has also been heavily linked with a role in Kevin Feige’s in-development Star Wars project,...
