Studio Babelsberg, the historic German studio that recently hosted “The Matrix Resurrections” production, has been acquired by Tpg Real Estate Partners.
The company, which is part of global alternative asset firm Tpg, first revealed plans to acquire a stake in the studio in September via Trep’s acquisition of Babelsberg’s main shareholder, Filmbetriebe Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (Fbb), which was controlled by Carl L. Woebcken and Christoph Fisser. As part of that deal, Fbb launched a public tender offer to acquire a majority of the shares in Studio Babelsberg, which went through in October.
All closing conditions of the transaction have now been fulfilled, the companies have said, with Woebcken and Fisser continuing to hold a minority stake in the studio.

Lizzo‘s “Truth Hurts” is the number-one song in the country for the fifth week in a row on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. That’s the longest reign ever for any female rapper without another artist credited. But how long will she maintain her grip on the top spot? She’s got some competition from newcomers Lewis Capaldi and Lil Tecca. Watch Billboard’s video above to see all of this week’s top 10 singles.
Before “Truth Hurts,” the longest number-one run for a female rapper by herself was Cardi B with her breakthrough hit “Bodak Yellow,” which spent three weeks in the lead position in 2017. In another couple of weeks Lizzo could tie the record for all female rappers: Iggy Azalea set that benchmark when she spent seven weeks at the summit in 2014 with “Fancy” featuring Charli Xcx.

Post Malone’s “Circles” ruled the Rs 100 for yet another week. Thanks to more than 19 million streams and 14,000 downloads, Malone’s hit stayed in front of “Ransom,” the ubiquitous, sing-song rap single from 17-year-old Lil Tecca.
Malone has dominated the Rs 100 since the release of his album Hollywood’s Bleeding. He appeared on 17 different charting songs this week. But Malone’s tight grip on the upper reaches of the chart loosened slightly this week. While “Goodbyes,” “Take What You Want,” and “Enemies” all remained in the Top Ten, they slipped down to positions Eight,...

The network in May postponed a renewal decision on four midseason drama series, which were either still airing or yet to premiere — sophomore Instinct, freshmen The Code and The Red Line, and third-year Canadian import Ransom. The Red Line, The Code and Ransom have since been canceled. They are now being joined by Instinct.

CBS has gone dark on DirecTV, DirecTV Now and AT&T U-verse in many major markets after the two sides could not come to a new distribution agreement. The deadline was Saturday morning at 2 a.m. Et.
Additionally, Smithsonian Channel and CBS Sports Network are currently unavailable on DirecTV nationwide. CBS Sports Network has also been dropped from DirecTV Now nationally.
“After months of negotiations, CBS is simply looking to receive fair value for its popular programming and is proposing economic terms similar to those that AT&T’s competitors have accepted in hundreds of our recent distribution agreements,” CBS said in a statement on Saturday. “The DirecTV deal expiring tonight was signed in 2012 and is nowhere close to today’s fair market terms for CBS content – to which AT&T’s competitors have repeatedly agreed.”

An individual with knowledge of the situation tells TheWrap the cancellation did not come from CBS, and was due to the fact the producers behind “Ransom” — which is an internationally co-produced series — made the decision not to go forward with the show due to a lack of funding.

We loved telling stories about strong, smart characters resolving conflicts with words instead of violence. Thank you for watching.”
An individual with knowledge of the situation tells TheWrap the cancellation did not come from CBS, and was due to the fact the producers behind “Ransom” — which is an internationally co-produced series — made the decision not to go forward with the show due to a lack of funding.

The Red Line has reached the final stop at CBS.
The Eye network has swung the ax on the freshman drama after one low-rated season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"[The show] did not get picked up for a second season, so it will exist as an elegant novel," co-showrunner Sunil Nayar revealed to the website at the Atx Television Festival.
The Red Line ultimately averaged 3.85 million total viewers and a CW-esque 0.36 rating in the adults 18-49 demo.

The 2018-19 television season is in the books, and as usual, some shows performed better than others. Like, better than all of these. This time around, there was actually a tie for broadcast’s lowest-rated entertainment series among adults 18-49, which is the demographic most-beloved by advertisers: CBS Saturday drama “Ransom” (which is still awaiting a renewal/cancellation decision) and ABC’s “Alec Baldwin Show”. See how the 21 lowest-rated broadcast TV shows rank by their “most current” Nielsen ratings below. For the purposes of this story, we elected not to count shows on The CW and news magazines like “20/20,” “48 Hours” and “Dateline,” which would have gobbled up several slots. Highest-rated is first, lowest-rated last — and yes, there are ties.

Spt will have global distribution rights outside of Brazil.Spt will most probably mix own distribution on Sony channels and sales to third party networks. “We are blessed with some great networks and I’m sure some of them will be excited by these projects, but in other territories we’ll also be looking outside of the Sony networks,” said Wayne Garvie, president international production, Sony Pictures Television.

CBS has begun to cull its roster, cancelling four series on Friday including the “Murphy Brown” revival and “Life in Pieces” after 4 seasons.
Along with those two, CBS has cut a pair of other freshman comedies in “Happy Together” and “Fam.” This means that “The Code” and “Ransom” are all that’s left for CBS to make a final decision on, with “Blood & Treasure” and “Instinct” not airing until the summer.
“Happy Together” was loosely based on Harry Styles’ early years in One Direction, starred Damon Wayans Jr. and Amber Stevens West as a young couple whose lives were thrown into chaos when an up-and-coming pop star (Felix Mallard) moves into their home. “Fam” starred Nina Dobrev, Tone Bell and Gary Cole.

CBS today picked up the bulk of its remaining drama series, including two that had been on the bubble, Madam Secretary and MacGyver. That leaves four hourlong series in limbo, sophomore Instinct, freshmen The Code and The Red Line and third-year Canadian import Ransom.
Neither of the four have finished their newest seasons. Season 2 of crime drama Instinct premieres June 16. The Red Line is half-way through its four-week eight-episode run, while The Code and Ransom has three more episodes to air.
Neither of the shows has been potent ratings performer. I hear The Code is not likely to continue. CBS rebranded The Red Line as event/limited series, airing two back-to-back episodes each week. I hear the network is considering the drama as one-off but is also open to continuing it. The ratings performance so far does not support the latter while the project’s pedigree helps the former. One of the most exciting plots used in film revolves around the desperation that leads people to do things they never would have in search of their missing child. Denis Villeneuve tackled the plot beautifully with his film “Prisoners.” One of Mel Gibson’s most iconic roles comes from a similar film, “Ransom.” And now, filmmaker Christian Carion keeps the tradition alive with the new French thriller “My Son.”
In honor of the film’s upcoming May release, we’re thrilled to present an exclusive look at the trailer for “My Son.” As described above, the film follows the extreme lengths that one father will go to find his missing 7-year-old son after he disappears while at camp.

Californication alum Evan Handler is set as a new series regular on season 6 of Power, and Mike Dopud and Monique Gabriela Curnen, who recurred in seasons 4 and 5, have been promoted to regulars for the upcoming season of Starz’s hit drama series.
Handler will play Jacob Warner, the new U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District, there to clean up one too many messes and not built to play nice. Formidable and powerful, he will use the position and authority to challenge those around him to get answers.
Dopud plays Jason Micic, a brutal and ruthless Serbian crime boss, and Tommy’s connect, with sights on expanding his network to both coasts at any cost.
Curnen plays Blanca Rodriguez, the incorruptible NYPD Internal Affairs investigator that zeroed in on Angela Valdes while conducting the investigation of the disappearance and probable murder of Detective Raymond Jones, Raina’s killer and a suspected dirty cop.

CBS and Canadian broadcaster Global have renewed Ransom for a third season.
Production on the new season is set to begin in October. As with past seasons, CBS will be the U.S. home for the series, with Global broadcasting the show in Canada.
CBS for two seasons has scheduled “Ransom” on Saturday nights, where original sscripted programming is rarely seen on broadcast. As an international acquisition, however, “Ransom” provides a low-cost programming option for CBS at a time when reruns perform increasingly poorly against the wealth of viewing options available on streaming and cable, and broadasters are under pressure to actively program year-round.
“Ransom” was created by David Vainola and Frank Spotnitz. It is a Canada-Hungary treaty co-production, produced by Entertainment One (eOne) with executive producers Jennifer Kawaja and Julia Sereny of Sienna Films and Spotnitz for Big Light Productions.

CBS is sticking with Ransom.
The U.S. broadcaster will continue with the imported series for a third season as Canadian outlet Global has also picked up the drama starring Luke Roberts for another cycle.
