Bomer was specifically honored for his amplification of Lgtbq+ stories and characters in projects such as HBO’s The Normal Heart, Netflix’s 2024 Oscar contender Maestro and Showtime’s Fellow Travelers, to name just a few.

Jonathan Bailey recently shared he was able to film Wicked during the American actors strike because he is in the Britsh actors union, Equity.
While the rest of the cast of the popular musical’s film adaptation were unable to shoot during the strike, Bailey spent four days on set and finished up some of Fiyero’s scenes. However, the crew had to get creative with his co-stars.
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the Bridgerton actor said it was a “pretty extraordinary” experience.
“I think we had 10 days left filming before the strike hit,” he told Cohen. “I was the only actor who was on an equity contract, so I had these four days where I came up and acted with people in wigs who were pretending to be [other actors].”

The existence of the 21st century itself is almost inconceivable. Ask any one who was around in 1999 how they felt about the incoming year 2000 and they’ll be happy to tell you how surreal it all felt. Hell, they may even be nice enough to give you a non-perishable treat from their Y2K bomb shelter.
The fact that we’re even in the 2000s and have been for many years feels like science fiction to begin with. It’s only fitting then that television, a very 20th century innovation, has been at our side the whole time to make sense of it.
Sci-fi TV in the 21st century was both a friendly companion and a bold boundary pusher. Whether it took us to the heights of outer space, alternate universes, or even just around the neighborhood, science fiction stories truly enriched our pop culture landscape. What follows are our...

This post contains spoilers for Star Trek: Picard.
To be sure, Star Trek: Picard season three pulled off something of a magic trick, bringing back not only the main cast of The Next Generation but also featuring surprising cameos. But by the time the credits rolled on the final episode, there was one main character conspicuously missing from the original lineup of Tng characters: Wesley Crusher.
Wesley’s absence from Picard season three seemed particularly glaring given the overall plot of those final 10 episodes, in which Picard and company go on a spacefaring trip to rescue Beverly Crusher and her son Jack. It’s a mission somewhat familiar to the once and future crew of the Enterprise-d, as they did the same a few times for Beverly’s firstborn, Wesley.

If Bridgerton decides to go the recast route with Simon Basset, it has Regé-Jean Page's blessing.
“They’re free to do as they like,” the actor explained to Variety at the premiere of his new movie, The Gray Man.
“Shonda [Rhimes, executive producer on ‘Bridgerton,’] and I had a wonderful conversation at the end of Season 1," he adds.
"We were quite happy with how we stuck the landing on that one.”
The star went on to speak a bit about the arc as a whole for his character.
“We did so well on that redemptive arc that people forget that Simon was kind of horrific," the onetime For the People star shared.
"He was the best example of a Regency fuckboy that any of us had come across,” Page continued.
“And so, because we came around full circle so well, because we stuck that landing, you’re left with this great feeling."

Season three of international thriller drama series Departure, headlined by Archie Panjabi, has begun production in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Toronto. Will & Grace alum Eric McCormack has joined the series, produced by Shaftesbury in association with Corus Entertainment, Starlings Television and Red Arrow Studios International.
Departure, whose existing two seasons are streaming on Peacock, was renewed for a third season by Canadian network Global in May. Peacock picked up Seasons 1 and 2, which also starred the late Christopher Plummer, after screening them so it is too early to say if the streamer will also take in Season 3.
Created by Vincent Shiao, with Jackie May serving as showrunner and Canadian Screen Award winner T.J. Scott as director, Departure centers on the mystery of The Queen of the Narrows ferry, destined for St. John’s Newfoundland, which sinks in record time with many of its 500 passangers on board.

In these days of coronavirus quarantine, one day can feel exactly like the next, and it reminded our Sci Fi Fidelity podcast hosts of the many repeating days that appear in time loop episodes of some current and classic TV shows. Bill Murray in Groundhog Day may have set the standard in cinema, but imitators on the small screen have taken the idea to new creative levels even as they emulate certain familiar aspects that have become the norm for episodes of this type.
For example, usually only one or two characters notice that a specific period of time is repeating, and they typically have a very difficult time convincing those around them that this has all happened before if they even try. Assuming there is a scientific or magical cause for the loop, there usually is a singular solution that the aware characters must find to break out of the cycle.

The world may be crumbling, but at least a handful of stellar films are coming to The Criterion Collection this summer. They’ve announced their June slate which includes their first Neon release, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, with Parasite to come at a later date. Also among the slate is Elem Klimov’s anti-war masterpiece Come and See, which we recently explored in-depth here. Also including work from Buster Keaton, Kon Ichikawa, and Paul Mazursky, check out the full slate and special feature details below.
The Cameraman
Buster Keaton is at the peak of his slapstick powers in The Cameraman— the first film that the silent-screen legend made after signing with MGM, and his last great masterpiece. The final work over which he maintained creative control, this clever farce is the culmination of an extraordinary, decade-long run that produced some of the most innovative and enduring comedies of all time.

Another day, another reboot.
The latest of which is a series many thought was canceled too soon. We're talking about Sanctuary!
Deadline broke the news that the series poised to return almost eight years after Syfy canceled it -- complete with original star Amanda Tapping.
The outlet reports that executive producer Martin Wood and All Canadian Entertainment have signed a deal with original rights holders Beedie to buy the rights and start development on new episodes of the series.
The original series starred Tapping as Dr. Helen Magnus as a 157-year-old teratologist, and her team of experts who run the Sanctuary, an organization that seeks out extraordinarily powerful creatures and people, known as Abnormals, and tries to help and to learn from them while also having to contain the more dangerous ones.

It's game over for Netflix's Insatiable.
The series has been canceled after two seasons ,according to series star, Alyssa Milano.
The actress responded to a fan who asked about a potential third season earlier this month.
"We will not be coming back, sadly," she said on Twitter.
Given that Insatiable Season 2 launched in October and Netflix has not renewed it, it seemed the series was not going to be renewed.
The streamer typically makes renewal or cancellation decisions around four weeks after a show premieres, so it is likely the second season failed to live up to expectations in terms of viewers.
Insatiable followed Patty Bladell, a teenager who was constantly bullied in school for being overweight.
After being on a liquid diet for three months over summer vacation because of a freak accident, she is now thin and seeks revenge on her bullies.

Mindhunter may not live to solve another crime at Netflix.
The David Fincher crime thriller aired its second season five months ago, and there has been no formal renewal announcement from the streamer.
Even more concerning is that Netflix let the cast options expire last month, meaning they can go on to new projects that are not related to the series.
Fincher, who is known for having creative control of the projects he has in the works, is working on the Netflix film Mank as well as the second season of Love, Death and Robots."
A Netflix spokesperson told Deadline that he might "revisit" Mindhunter down the line, but he felt it "wasn't fair to the actors" to keep them from moving on to other opportunities.
While the streamer would like fans not to be worried about the future of the series, it's difficult not to. When actors move on to other projects,...

Dion will continue to be raised at Netflix.
The streamer has confirmed Raising Dion has been picked up for a sophomore run mere days after it was announced it was one of the 10 Most Popular Series on Netflix.
Even more promising is that it was named the Most Popular Kids & Family Series release of 2019.
Generally, Netflix makes renewal or cancellation decisions after looking at 28-day viewing data, meaning that most renewals come around one month after shows debut.
With Raising Dion premiering October 4, it was somewhat concerning that the show's fate remained up in the air into the beginning of 2020.
As of now, the second season is slated to span eight one-hour episodes, down from Season 1's 9 episode order.
Carol Barbee will continue to serve as Showrunner for the sophomore run, while Michael B. Jordan, Kenny Goodman, Kim Roth, Dennis Liu, and Charles D. King’s MacRo will return as Executive Producers.

The Rothman Brecher Ehrich Livingston agency has signed the Writers Guild of America’s Code of Conduct, allowing the agency to return to representing WGA members again.
The WGA made the announcement Monday night. Rbel is joining more than 70 agencies allowed to represent WGA members thanks to agreeing to a ban of agency packaging fees and affiliate production. WGA members were told on April 13 by WGA West president David Goodman to fire their agents if the agents had not agreed to bans on packaging fees and affiliate production.
The WGA said in a message to members that there are some modifications to its WGA Come of Conduct under the Rothman Brecher agreement, such as packaging fees being banned after a sunset period ending Jan 22, 2021, and allowing agencies to own up to 5% of production companies — a percentage that the WGA described as “minimal.”

Jason Momoa-headlined Apple TV series, See, landed a preemptive second season renewal, albeit with personnel changes ahead.

Marketing Move
AMC Theatres is launching a new program, AMC Artisan Films, as a programming-marketing effort to put a spotlight on character and narrative driven movies as an alternative to blockbusters.
“Because AMC is the industry’s top choice for blockbuster movies, many consumers don’t realize that we play more elevated and celebrated films than anyone else in North America,” said Elizabeth Frank, executive vice president of worldwide programming. “With the launch of AMC Artisan Films, we aim to expose more movie-goers to specialized films and increase their theatrical success.”
Frank said AMC is seeking earlier runs in platform releases while holding films longer in the theater to give audiences time to learn about them from other customers.

“Santa Clarita Diet” fans are in an uproar over Netflix’s decision to cancel their zombie-mom series on Friday. The Drew Barrymore–Timothy Olyphant single-camera comedy ended its third season on a huge cliffhanger, with — Spoiler Alert — Joel apparently becoming undead after Sheila bit him to prevent his being possessed by her zombie spider, aka Mr. Ball Legs. Now fans are worried that they’ll never learn any answers to the show’s biggest mysteries — that is, unless Netflix decides to greenlight a wrap-up “Santa Clarita Diet” TV movie.

Netflix has lost its hunger for Santa Clarita Diet: The streamer has cancelled the Drew Barrymore-Timothy Olyphant zombie satire, TVLine has learned. The series’ third season — which dropped March 29 — will be its last.
“The world had never known a ‘zom-com’ until Santa Clarita Diet, and we’re indebted to creator Victor Fresco for bringing this idea to Netflix,” the streamer said in a statement. “To their endless credit, the incredible Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant were totally game, with an uncanny knack for comedy that brought Sheila and Joel Hammond to vibrant life, even though one of them was undead.
