Amazon has released the first trailer for “The Tomorrow War,” a star-studded action sci-fi thriller starring Chris Pratt fighting an alien invasion. Originally set for a theatrical release by Paramount Pictures, the film’s distribution rights were acquired by Amazon Studios due to the pandemic in a deal worth a reported $200 million. Directed by frequent Phil Lord and Chris Miller collaborator Chris McKay, the action-packed alien drama “The Tomorrow War” will be widely available on Prime Video this July.
Here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of Amazon: “In ‘The Tomorrow War,’ the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. Warner Bros is having another pop at the potential new franchise with the Black Panther star.
Currently sitting firmly in the 'development hell' seating area of Warner Bros is Methusaleh, a film that's been close to fruition quite a few times over the years. But the project may be done languishing at the studio now that Creed and Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan has signed up to produce and star in it.
Methusaleh, a story about a 400-year old man who has never aged a day, was originally developed by Eden Lake director James Watkins, and since then Arash Amel (Grace of Monaco) and Zach Dean (24 Hours To Live) have both had their hands on the script.
Tom Cruise was once mulling the idea of playing the central role, but this week it was announced that Jordan’s production company Outlier Society has joined forces...

In his new film “First Reformed,” Ethan Hawke stars as Reverend Toller, an ailing former military chaplain, who counsels an expectant father so disturbed by climate change that he wants his wife to get an abortion. As the narrative — from writer/director Paul Schrader — progresses, Toller learns that one of the nation’s biggest polluters paid for the upgrades to his church, yet nonetheless assumes the young man’s environmentalist mantle.
A clergyman is “not a role that you often see fully explored in movies,” Hawke told IndieWire during a recent interview. “You see people dressed up as priests and they’re robbing a bank, or they’re in ‘Cannonball Run,’ or you see evil priests in horror movies, and things like that…I really was grateful for not the opportunity to play a [pastor], but this one.”
Meanwhile, Hawke concedes, “There’s about 80 million cop movies,” including his own “Brooklyn...

In between Richard Linklater films and Broadway stints, Ethan Hawke seemingly can’t resist playing the action hero. The character actor’s portfolio contains some surprising hits like Daybreakers, The Purge and The Magnificent Seven. All of which capitalised on Hawke’s inherent charm and vulnerability. Even his turn in gritty crime drama Training Day, saw his determined cop Jake tempered by naivete and sycophancy. 24 Hours to Live seeks then to drop Hawke’s lovable persona into some of the most high-octane action of his career.
Hawke plays Travis Conrad, a wetwork specialist for Red Mountain, a Blackwater-esque Private Military Company. When one of Red Mountain’s soldiers gives up vital intel to Xu Qing’s Interpol agent, Travis is hired to take them both out. Which he then proceeds to royally screw up and get himself killed. Fortunately, Red Mountain has been working on a new experiment to revive dead soldiers.
