Barry Levinson, director of Best Picture winner Rain Man (for which Levinson also won the Best Director Oscar), is producing a mystery thriller called American Sweatshop with Oz showrunner Tom Fontana, and Deadline reports that Riverdale, Look Both Ways, and Hustlers star Lili Reinhart has been cast in the lead role.
Emmy nominee Uta Briesewitz, whose previous credits include Stranger Things, The Wheel of Time, Westworld and This Is Us, is set to direct the film from a screenplay by Matthew Nemeth (City on a Hill).
In a device driven world, American Sweatshop will take a look at the toll of social media through the eyes of Daisy Moriarty (Reinhart), who while dealing with a chaotic personal life, finds herself sucked into the underbelly of the internet. Moriarty, and a motley group of coworkers, toil in a cottage industry of agencies that evaluate harmful and offensive pictures and videos uploaded to social media.

The upcoming season of The Witcher has a lot of hardcore fans very concerned. Ever since it was announced that Henry Cavill would be leaving the role of the beloved Geralt of Rivia, audiences have been skeptical about the future of the series. Although Liam Hemsworth is nowhere to blame for the criticism these decisions are getting, he has unfortunately become the face of them.
Henry Cavill as the Geralt of Rivia [Credit: Netflix]While the news was announced months ago, fans cannot help but get nostalgic whenever the show takes a new step towards its unwelcome change. The best example of this would be the recent first look of Hemsworth as the White Wolf. While fans are focused on the similarities, Netflix may have just made a grave mistake.

The advent of streaming television a little over a decade ago changed TV forever. One of those was the idea of releasing entire television seasons simultaneously.
Traditionally, on network television, TV series have been released one episode a week throughout their season.
HBO and other premium cable networks have also released one episode a week, although the seasons are usually shorter.
However, when Netflix debuted its first significant prestige series, House of Cards, in 2013, it released every episode simultaneously.
For several years after that, Netflix released nearly all of its shows that way.
As other streaming services rose to compete with Netflix, they used different models.
Max, for instance, has retained HBO's traditional model of usually one episode per week.
Ironically, during this era, whole seasons of The Sopranos, Sex and the City, and other shows were released on DVD at once, likely encouraging the binge-watching habit.

Boy Kills World looked to be a cool action flick – and JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray said it was in his 8/10 review, where he wrote, “I had a total blast with this demented actioner.” But even with producer Sam Raimi’s name on the film, it didn’t draw in much of an audience during its theatrical run. According to The Numbers, it only made $3 million worldwide. Now it’s heading to home video, where hopefully it will have more success. Boy Kills World is getting a digital release next week, on May 28th, and Amazon is already accepting pre-orders at This Link.

Joe Keery got a key, early endorsement from Taylor Swift for his hit song, “End of Beginning.”
During an appearance on The Spout Podcast, the actor-musician shared an anecdote from the day he and Swift were both spotted at the Electric Lady recording studio in New York City. The Tortured Poets Department singer-songwriter told the Stranger Things star she “really liked the track.”
“I just happened to be there the day that she was there. And she’s really nice. I mean, I’ve met her a couple of times. Before anything happened with this track, she said, ‘Hey, I really love that track of yours, ‘End Of Beginning,’” Keery said on the podcast. “She just said that she had heard the song and, you know, obviously I’m like, ‘What? “Bridgerton” Season 3 is off to a steamy hot start.
The third season of the Shondaland period drama drew 45.1 million views over its first four days of availability, according to Netflix, easily finishing first on the streamer’s Global Top 10 list. Take that, Tom Brady roast.
It was the biggest week — by quite a bit — for any series on Netflix since the streamer changed its core metric from hours viewed to views in mid-June 2023.
The first four “Bridgerton” Season 3 episodes reached number 1 in 78 countries and the Top 10 in 92, Netflix said. The next four episodes premiere on June 13; try not to obsess over the big cliffhanger between now and then.
The third season of “Bridgerton” also brought the first two back to (some semblance of) their former glory. “Bridgerton” Seasons 1 and 2 both returned to Netflix’s Top 10 TV (in any language) list in the week ahead of Season 3. They did even better during Season 3’s premiere week.

It’s been less than two years since TV exec Matt Thunell left Netflix to become president of Skydance Television. The Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont was once approached to write a Star Wars film for George Lucas. The Star Wars director was not the best at writing dialogue and tried seeking outside help for the same. One of the projects that made sure got the push to completion after the strikes had settled last year was Deadpool & Wolverine. Marvel made sure that their much-hyped sequel to the popular Deadpool franchise would make its release this summer. Hugh Jackman’s return to the role and donning the iconic yellow costume is enough of a reason that got fans excited, and Jackman himself couldn’t believe it took this long to get to wear the comic-inspired suit. “We almost did it in The Wolverine,” Jackman said. “But from the moment I put it on here, I was like, ‘How did we never do this?’ It looked so right, it felt so right. I was like, ‘That’s him.’ There are different sides of Wolverine we haven’t seen before in the movies. It was exciting for me.“

The last Stranger Things season dropped almost two years ago with many things changing for the Hawkins crew. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting bigger and bigger. Apart from Marvel’s first family making it into the universe, the fan-favorite X-Men, too, have finally made it to superhero verse. Lili Reinhart (“Riverdale”) is leading the cast of an upcoming thriller titled American Sweatshop, with Deadline reporting that the film will explore the dark side of the internet.
“In a device driven world,” Deadline details, “American Sweatshop will take a look at the toll of social media through the eyes of Daisy Moriarty (Reinhart), who while dealing with a chaotic personal life, finds herself sucked into the underbelly of the internet.
“Moriarty, and a motley group of coworkers, toil in a cottage industry of agencies that evaluate harmful and offensive pictures and videos uploaded to social media. With detached caution and a deranged sense of humor, they examine the millions of posts that get ‘flagged for review.’
“But one particularly violent video grabs hold of Daisy, luring her out of this office, away from the safety of her keyboard and into a dangerous world as she obsessively seeks to hold someone accountable.

Dear friends, we've been waiting for this for an incredibly long time, and it's finally happened! The long-awaited third season of Bridgerton landed on Netflix yesterday, May 16, two years after Season 2 was released. But amidst all the incredibly high and loud excitement among viewers of one of Netflix's flagship series, there has been fan angst over the streaming service's policy. After all, we waited two full years to finally get... just four episodes of the new season.
Yes, folks, back in December 2023, it was announced that Bridgerton Season 3 would be split into two parts, with a one-month difference in release. For many, this is very disappointing news, and while the Part 1 finale left many on the edge of their seats, such a long wait left an underwhelming impression. So why was Season 3 split in half, and is Netflix's decision to do so putting Bridgerton's popularity at risk of plummeting in the near future?...

One touch without a rope is all it takes,” Berry’s character tells her sons at one point in the trailer, as they commit to keep tethered to the ropes for safety and connection. But as demonic forces engulf their off-the-grid house, one of the twins questions whether evil exists.

Oooh, this looks creepy.
"Never Let Go" is a new horror film from Alexandre Aja, director of the pretty good remake of "The Hills Have Eyes" and the excellent killer alligator movie "Crawl." With his new feature, Aja seems to be channeling "A Quiet Place" crossed with a bit of the supernatural, resulting in this effective trailer. In "Never Let Go," Halle Berry plays a mother who is hiding out in the woods with her twin sons. According to Berry's character, these are post-apocalyptic times. Berry tells her sons that they'll be safe as long as they tether themselves to the secluded cabin where they're hiding out. But what's really going on here? And what's lurking out in the woods? I don't know. All I know is that the dog that shows up in the trailer better make it out alive.

After crafting some of the most entertaining B-movies in recent years with Crawl and Oxygen, Alexandre Aja is returning with a new one-location psychological thriller this year. Never Let Go, not to be confused with Kazuo Ishiguro’s book and Mark Romanek’s adaptation, stars Halle Berry, Percy Daggs IV, and Anthony B. Jenkins. Ahead of a September release, the first trailer has now arrived.
Here’s the synopsis: “From visionary director Alexandre Aja and the creative minds behind Stranger Things and Arrival comes Never Let Go. Originally announced last year under the title Mother Land, the next film from director Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D, Crawl) is now titled Never Let Go, and Lionsgate has released the official trailer this morning. Watch it below.
Never Let Go arrives in theaters on September 27, 2024. The premise for this one looks to be similar to films including A Quiet Place and Bird Box, centered on a small family unit’s struggle to survive within a world gone to hell. There’s a whole lot of snake-like imagery in this first look trailer – jump to 1:44 for a blink-and-miss-it little tease… or check out our screen-grab below – but the threat outside their door is still very much a mystery at this point in time.
All we know is… one touch is all it takes…
Academy Award winner Halle Berry is leading the film’s cast.
