When Calls the Heart continues to bring drama to Hope Valley.
Spoilers for When Calls the Heart Season 11 Episode 9 hint that most of the residents are displeased to see Montague return to their town.
That feeling may increase once Rosemary's article gets published, making Lucas public enemy number two.
A few weeks ago, Chris McNally hinted that one of his decisions would put him at odds with Rosemary and Lee, and this must be part of it.
After Montague tried to steal their land and water in Season 10, no one trusted him, especially Bill, since Montague stole his land and conned Madeline and Jamie.
Things are bound to get complicated because Bill and Rosemary have invested so much time trying to protect Lucas from Montague, who they believe tried to kill him.

“Taking from an elderly person is as bad as stealing from a child,” growls Jason Statham in “The Beekeeper,” reinforcing the image of “helpless” old people in need of defending. (He spends the rest of the movie knocking heads after scammers steal money from his gullible landlady.) With “Thelma,” writer-director Josh Margolin tries out a different approach, casting nonagenarian character actor June Squibb as an unlikely yet satisfying action star. It’s a cute idea, celebrating the willpower and determination of a 93-years-young woman. If audiences are willing to suspend their disbelief for “The Beekeeper,” why not do the same when it’s Squibb on a rampage?
“Thelma” bloomed out of Margolin’s relationship with his own grandmother, and its more endearing dialogue exchanges were directly lifted from things the real-life Thelma says and does. Squibb’s character has a doting — and slightly dopey — grandson of her own, Daniel, who visits regularly,...

As the aftereffects of the writers’ and actors’ strikes hit streaming in a big way, there’s not a lot of new content to offer subscribers early in 2024. Hulu still has some interesting things to offer in January, though.
The biggest new Hulu Original series in the new year is Death and Other Details, a locked room murder mystery starring Mandy Patinkin as Rufus Cotesworth, who is said to be the world’s greatest detective – at least in this universe. In the new series, Cotesworth comes to the rescue when an unfortunate soul is killed on lavish Mediterranean ocean liner, and he has to team up with the prime suspect (Violett Beane) to solve the crime.

According to 85% of Gold Derby’s 2024 Golden Globes predictors, former Best Film Comedy/Musical Actress champion Emma Stone (2016’s “La La Land”) is practically assured a repeat victory thanks to her work in the fantasy epic “Poor Things.” Assuming this decisive opinion is truly reflective of those of Golden Globes voters, it would only make sense for her to leverage that love into a same-year Best TV Comedy Actress notice for her performance on the buzzy new Showtime series “The Curse.”
Were she to prevail on her potential bids for said big screen and small screen projects, she would make history as the youngest individual to simultaneously achieve both types of acting Golden Globe wins.

It was a long time coming, but Sam Elliott finally earned his first Oscar nomination for “A Star Is Born” (2018). He contended as Best Supporting Actor for this musical drama about a failing rockstar (Bradley Cooper) who falls in love with a rising pop star (Lady Gaga), but can’t kick his drug and alcohol addiction despite the best efforts of his girlfriend and his older brother/manager (Elliott). Let’s take a look back at 15 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.
In a career spanning 50 years, Elliott has received scant awards recognition for his film career. He has, however, contended at the Emmys for his work in “Buffalo Girls” (Best Movie/Mini Supporting Actor in 1995) and “Robot Chicken” (Best Voice-Over Performer in 2013). He competed at the Golden Globes for “Buffalo Girls” and once more for “Conagher” (Best TV Movie/Mini Actor in 1992).

Watch enough Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda interviews, and you’ll pick up on a charming contradiction. The longtime friends and Hollywood legends have a specific onscreen dynamic, one they’ve perfected since debuting opposite each other and country music legend Dolly Parton in Colin Higgins’ beloved “9 to 5.”
Tomlin’s brilliant and brash wildcard characters — personified middle fingers in heels — typically win over and radicalize Fonda’s sexed-up but straight-laced conservatives with a slow drip of warm frankness and Tomlin’s innate best friend energy. In the 1980 feminist workplace comedy, it’s Tomlin’s veteran supervisor character who ropes Fonda’s naive office newcomer and Parton’s sexually harassed secretary into a revenge plot that nearly kills their terrible boss, Mr. Hart (Dabney Coleman).

The invigorating success of both Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin’s television and film careers over the last few years cannot be overstated. About a decade ago both legends found themselves in a position to move back to the top of the call sheet. This mutual resurgence hit an inflection point with the Netflix show Grace & Frankie, an incredibly successful sitcom that finished with its seventh season only last year.
The duo pair up again in the Paul Weitz tragi-comedy Moving On. The picture opens at the wake of an old friend of both Claire (Fonda) and Evelyn (Tomlin). Minutes after her arrival, a quiet Claire informs her dead friend’s widow Howard (Malcolm McDowell) that she plans to kill him. We gather he committed some unnamed atrocity on her many years before. In due time the movie will reveal how terrible it was and what she plans to do about it.

Exclusive: We hear that Apple has won a multiple-studio bidding war for Cin Fabré’s memoir Wolf Hustle, about a young Black woman’s ascent on male-dominated Wall Street. Till filmmaker Chinonye Chukwu is adapting it as a feature, and directing and producing under her Where’s the Fire banner alongside Entertainment 360.
In Wolf Hustle, Fabré, who was a broker on Wall Street, offers an engrossing and unapologetic portrait of a young Black woman succeeding in the testosterone-laden New York business world. In her deconstruction of the business world, the author grapples with what is most meaningful in life, ultimately beating Wall Street at its own game. The project is billed as being a mix of The Wolf of Wall Street and The Big Short set in 1990s New York. Wolf Hustle is her debut book.
Entertainment 360’s Priya Satiani, Guymon Casady and Alex Holcomb will produce.

Nick Drake’s discography proved to be a goldmine for the forthcoming album The Endless Coloured Ways, a collection of 32 of the musician’s most essential catalog entries reimagined by various artists. On the first release from the project, out July 7, Fontaines D.C. flips Drake’s 1969 classic “‘Cello Song.”
The post-punk band’s rendition is heavier, pushing loud guitars and thick bass lines to the surface where Drake originally coasted alongside softer instrumentals. It’s the exact recording approach Jeremy Lascelles, co-founder of Blue Raincoat Music and CEO of Chrysalis Records,...

"So we're both lousy friends." Roadside Attractions has revealed an official trailer for an under-90-minutes dark comedy titled Moving On, the latest from filmmaker Paul Weitz. This actually premiered at TIFF 2022 last year, and recently played at the Palm Springs Film Festival, with a theatrical release set for March coming up next month. Two old friends reconnect at a funeral and decide to revenge on the widower who messed with them decades before. Along the way, each woman learns to make peace with the past and with each other. Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin star as the two old friends, along with Malcolm McDowell, Richard Roundtree, Catherine Dent, and Marcel Nahapetian. This does look like it has some funny scenes and sharp dialogue, though the rest of the cliched story doesn't seem that great. Still will be worth watching just for Fonda and Tomlin. // Continue Reading ›››...

Not to be too dismissive or glib, but filmmaker Paul Weitz has seemed to find a new lane in recent years. Could you call that lane the “grandma lane” without seeming like a superficial dick? Hear me out, though, because Weitz, who made the film “Grandma” with Lily Tomlin in 2017—which is very good btw!— has been working with her a lot, and several narratives center on women in the ’60s and ’70s.

When Paul Weitz directed Lily Tomlin in 2015’s “Grandma,” little did he know he would get the idea for a follow-up film, “Moving On,” which would star Tomlin and Jane Fonda.
“Around when ‘Grandma’ came out, I met Jane through that and Lily called me up and said, ‘Jane, and I would love it if you’d write something for us,'” director Paul Weitz told Sharon Waxman at TheWrap and Shutterstock’s Interview and Portrait Studio at the Toronto Film Festival.
Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Malcolm McDowell and Richard Roundtree star in “Moving On,” which tells the story of two old friends who reconnect at a funeral and plot to take their revenge on a widower who wronged them in the past.

Writer-irector Paul Weitz wrote the sublime road comedy Grandma for Lily Tomlin, and now at the suggestion of Tomlin, he wrote a new film for both Lily and Jane Fonda, one with characters unrecognizable from the pair they played for seven years on the Netflix sitcom, Grace And Frankie, in a story tinged with a dark side, as well as some pungent commentary on the effect of sexual trauma, even nearly a half-century later. This is the kind of movie I love, independently made, using great actors in unexpected kinds of roles, running a tight no-fat 85 minutes, and being thoroughly entertaining with something to say as well.
Fonda plays Claire who is attending the funeral of her old college roommate, Joyce. She meets again with another college friend Evie (Tomlin) and confesses her plans don’t include just attending a funeral to pay respects, but also to kill Joyce’s...

Can you imagine anything more delightful than Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin co-starring in a movie with Richard Roundtree and Malcolm McDowell … in 1972? That was the year Fonda won an Oscar for “Klute” and daffy “Laugh-In” star Tomlin released her first comedy album. The two men were riding high with “Shaft” and “A Clockwork Orange,” respectively. Just think what an ensemble film that played to each of their strengths might have yielded 50 years ago.
That’s wishful thinking, of course. You can’t go back, and you can’t do things over, but it’s never too late to move on. At least, that’s the message writer-director Paul Weitz is peddling in “Moving On,” a sassy feature-length sitcom with a #MeToo twist in which two estranged friends reunite to settle a decades-old score.

Lily Tomlin, whose latest film, Moving On, premieres at the festival on Sept. 9, first came to Toronto 18 years ago with I Heart Huckabees, director David O. Russell’s trippy dark comedy about two detectives (Tomlin and Dustin Hoffman) tasked with identifying the meaning of their clients’ existences.
The Hollywood Reporter’s review of the heady ensemble film, which also stars Isabelle Huppert, Jude Law, Jason Schwartzman, Mark Wahlberg and Naomi Watts, praised the “unique premise and some truly inspired casting” but lamented that the movie “remains stuck in an existential rut of its own.” Fox Searchlight released Huckabees in October 2004 to a modest box office response, pulling in a worldwide total of 20 million. But the film perhaps drew more attention for what went down off-camera, thanks to tension between Tomlin and Russell during production.

Exclusive: One of the hottest acquisition titles at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, which starts in earnest tonight, happens to star a couple of certifiable show business legends, both now in their 80s, both working all the time (much of it together lately) and both proving age is just a number.
Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin wrapped their Netflix comedy series Grace and Frankie after seven seasons — the longest ever for any series in the streamer’s history — and within a week were back before the cameras shooting the indie film appropriately titled Moving On since this pair does just that, even in an industry that doesn’t exactly celebrate seniors as a rule. Madonna has likely found her Madonna.
Julia Garner is the frontrunner to land the role of the pop icon in the biopic from Universal that will be directed by Madonna herself, but it is currently unclear at what stage the dealmaking is in.
If a deal does make, the Inventing Anna star earned the opportunity to portray Madonna after a months-long process that included choreography sessions with the singer’s choreographer, as well as choreography, singing and reading sessions with Madonna herself. Other actresses who were considered for the role include Florence Pugh, Odessa Young and Alexa Demie, among a multitude of others.
Amy Pascal is set to produce the movie, which was co-written by Secretary writer Erin Cressida Wilson.

There are diverse streaming releases slates and then there is Hulu’s list of new releases for May 2022. There are no big franchises here, no big themes – just a whole bunch of original and library titles for everyone to enjoy.
Hulu’s major original releases in May come in the middle of the month. Candy premieres on May 9 and stars Jessica Biel as your friendly neighborhood axe murderer. If that sounds a bit outlandish, bear in mind that this limited series is based on the real life story of Candy Montgomery and her victim, the tragically named Betty Gore. On May 15, Hulu will play host to Conversations with Friends. This is the latest adaptation of the works of Sally Rooney.
