TNT has set 10 cast members for the Ridley Scott-produced drama “Raised by Wolves.”
The show, which was ordered straight-to-series in October, centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.
The cast includes:
—Amanda Collin will play Mother, an android with a secret past who has been programmed to raise a brood of human children on a faraway planet. In addition to teaching her children to survive, Mother must also keep them from believing in the unreal; to ensure this virgin planet isn’t torn apart by the same religious differences that lead the Earth to its ultimate destruction. Mother hopes her family will serve as the nucleus for a peaceful, technocratic colony — a new beginning for humanity.

Ridley Scott is set to direct his first TV series ever with a new sci-fi project being developed for TNT called Raised By Wolves. Scott will also serve as an executive producer. This definitely sounds like the kind of story that Scott would have fun with bringing to life.
Raised By Wolves is a serialized drama about “two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.”
Scott is no stranger to telling stories with androids with film franchises such as Blade Runner and Alien under his belt. Scott had this to say in a statement:

TNT is moving forward with series Raised by Wolves, an interplanetary TV series developed by Ridley Scott.

Ridley Scott is headed to the small screen. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker is set to make his television directorial debut with “Raised by Wolves,” a new sci-fi series that just received a straight-to-series order from TNT. Per a description, the show “centers upon two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.”
“I’m always searching for new frontiers in the sci-fi genre and have found a true original in ‘Raised by Wolves’ — a wholly distinct and imaginative world, full of characters struggling with existential questions: What makes us human? What constitutes a family? And what if we could start over again and erase the mess we’ve made of our planet? Would we survive? Would we do better?...

TNT has given a straight-to-series order to a sci-fi drama project that hails from executive producer Ridley Scott.
Titled “Raised by Wolves,” the series centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.
Aaron Guzikowski will serve as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series. Guzikowski previously wrote the sceenplay for the acclaimed film “Prisoners” and most recently wrote the screenplay for the remake of “Papillon.”
Scott will executive produce via his Scott Free Productions banner along with David W. Zucker and Jordan Sheehan. Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner and Robyn Meisinger will also executive produce.
“Ridley Scott is simply the best there is in the sci-fi genre,” said Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming for TNT.

The story of a bunch of dreamily self-admiring friends hanging out in the suburbs and talking about aliens is oppressively self-indulgent
This film stars Alexa Davies, and no one who saw her as Aretha in Caitlin Moran’s great Channel 4 comedy Raised By Wolves could fail to be a fan. But in the middle of this insufferable film I was longing for Aretha’s mum Della, played by Rebekah Staton, to come on and give all the dire emo self-harmers here a piece of her mind. It is so oppressively self-indulgent that it feels like getting a knitting needle slowly jammed into your ear canal.
Davis plays Lucidia, a dreamily self-admiring teenager hanging out with a bunch of other dreamily self-admiring teenagers in a suburb close to an army base. They are into Twilight vampirism, eyeliner, Bdsm-lite and hanging around talking interminably about aliens and life on other worlds.

Writer/Director Alex Taylor is about to see his first feature length production, Spaceship, which has been backed by the BFI, hits cinemas on May 19th. Taylor makes his transition from short films to embark on his hallucinogenic cinematic journey with an experimental unconventional coming of age story.
A story of teenage troubles, far from those Hollywood loves to portray but from those teenagers who are classed as outsiders in our modern society, ones that want to be unicorns and aliens and, to most, are just plain weird. Spaceship centers on Lucidia (Alexa Davies) as she fakes her own alien abduction, leaving her father to delve into her strange teenage world of neon dream-like visions.
We spoke with Alex Taylor at length to take us into his world of creating Spaceship, its musical connection and its triumphant reception at SXSW.

When you think about it, these midseason breaks are really quite long. Ordinarily, by episode 10 of a 22 or 23 episode season, I've usually called out about 3-4 episodes as being "disposable" and indicative of why most network TV shows could benefit from moving to the cable model. Anyway, I'm not going to do that tonight, even though Plunder is a completely lame villain of the week.
