A swing and a miss
I do not agree with the policies of the Boy Scouts of America, but the writers of this show should have done 5 minutes of research before attempting to take them to task. Almost everything they showed regarding scouting is incorrect, in a large part because they have confused Boy Scouting with Cub Scouting. This episode used the wrong terminology, had them meeting way too often, and had them doing the wrong things.
A group of Cub Scouts is a Pack, not a Troop. Their leader is a Cubmaster, not a Scoutmaster. The group of boys that David joins is a Wolf Den, run by Den Leaders, not Scoutmasters. Wolf Dens are not allowed to go camping by themselves. Setting traps, building lean-tos, identifying edible plants, and starting fires without matches are not part of Cub Scouting. Cub Scouts do not earn badges for etymology or archery. Archery programs are not permitted at Den and Pack activities. The vehicle that David built in no way resembles a Pinewood Derby car (it's much too wide and the wheels don't move).
If you don't care enough about a topic to read a Wikipedia page, then why write a whole show about it?
